Compare white working class men to black working class men. Who’s more disadvantaged?

As an ex-teacher I can tell you that white working class boys are the most disadvantaged. The evidence on this is widely available.

Not because of their race.

That was not what you were saying - which is precisely why I mentioned class. Things are not quite as simple as you think.

Just because your fragility considers something discriminatory, that doesn't make it discrimination. Prejudiced, maybe, but that's not the same.

You can't give equal weight to everything in a stratified society, that's not how either power or language operates. You've had it explained to you repeatedly and rather than counter the arguments you just flip to asking another version of the same question.

I keep repeating it because it still hasn't been answered, despite it being a very simple question.

If you don’t know what power WHITE MEN have I can’t help you.

Just admit that you don't know.

Underthinker · 08/04/2024 18:52

Not in the UK no. I don't think I said it was. If you were in a country with a black majority would you use the n word?

In some countries a history of enslavement and colonialism has made many people disadvantaged even though they make up the majority of the population. So no you couldn't use the "n" word in those countries because it is historically loaded and harmful.

I'm not sure some people on here quite understand what is meant by the term discriminated against.

MarjorieOsborne · 08/04/2024 19:59

GoodfortheGoose · 08/04/2024 18:58

What if a black person says something racist to an Asian person, or vice versa? No racism to see here, folks?

Misandry doesn't exist, women can't abuse men either because men had systemic power.

Whether or not you think gammon is racist is one thing, but the idea that racism depends of power is fucking stupid.

👏👏

But you agree they're the most disadvantaged, though?

Underthinker · 08/04/2024 20:04

@Ramalangadingdong I understand that. I don't think being part of a majority is a justification for insults or to be the target of racism, that's what the person I was responding to seemed to believe.

What's the point in providing evidence to someone from a group that consistently refuses to accept evidence?

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/gb-news-uk-bias/

It's subtle (not that subtle) pattern is to get gradually more unhinged & populist throughout the day. So we'll start with a few cool heads in the morning having a chat and end up with Kelvin Mackenzie suggesting the solution to the channel crossings is to go out and shoot 10 or 20 of them.

It's losing money, its recruiting of hosts and guests isn't about raising its entertainment value, or attracting audiences it's about influencing the direction of government and it's working.

Ah @Sillypede Back for me to disprove every thing you say again.

As with every single one of your arguments you fail to comprehend the flow of the discussion. Yet again you have provided so called evidence that doe not back up what I asked you to disprove.

Let me put it in basic terms for you,

Sillypede "People who get their news from GBNEWS are just getting bias Facts from right wing loons and are all thick"

ME "The Section of that show that presents the news as in NEWS Broadcasts are factual and non bias as they are separated from the rest of the show with professional news casters in a news studio, so prove the actual news segments are BIAS"

SillyPede - comes up with a link to GBNEWS the talk show as a whole, not the news broadcasts where people get their news from, which you were asked to supply.

See nothing you have links states that the actual news broadcasts, that people get the actual news from are bias as those sections, as they are regulated by Ofcom and you are talking nonsense.

See every time you answer people on MN you twist and turn the facts to try to suit your negative bias to certain groups you don't like. It never changes and your arguments never come with any coherent normality or sense.

Why have you fabricated quotes from me and then gone on to accuse me of twisting things?

Don't they have rules about this on here?

You then make the ludicrous claim that because the news on GBnews is regulated by Ofcom ( which regulates all news in the UK so presumably the BBC, ITV & Channel 4 are all unbiased) Ignoring the GBnews in under investigation for 11 potential cases of breaking impartiality rules.

Yes here you are taking some thing I said from a conversation and quoting me completely out of context of the previous discussion? Do they have rules against this also?

Yet again As some one who clearly does not watch GBNEW`s you seem to make a lot of claims with out actually knowing what it contains. Which constantly makes your arguments fall apart your are arguing about a channel you do not watch or understand.

Let me clear explain the channel for you in SIMPLE terms..

GBN isn’t a news channel it is registered with Ofcom as a weekly topical debate programme with OFCOM, with a mixture of political debate and official news reports.

The actual news broadcast segments are from a news room that have actual factual news that is regulated by OFCOM.

You are attempting to blend both the topical debate discussions and actual news broadcasts under one umbrella, this is false and misleading.

I quoted your whole post, in full. I didn't fabricate it.

The idea that Ofcom is any sort of real guide to bias in news is a ludicrous position to take. All news preserves the interests of the ruling hegemony to a greater or lesser extent. Either in simply selecting what is news, in the language they use (think Poll Tax demonstrations vs Poll Tax riots) through to the actual fabrication of news.

😂 Your pic has not shown up but the irony meter was what made me laugh.

Sillypede · 08/04/2024 21:14

Three news stories arrive on the desk "refugee saves child from burning house", "refugee saves a life by donating kidney" and "refugee runs over child playing in the street"

Which one, in all honesty, do you think GBnews is going to use and which one is going to be red meat their target audience?

Ah, bless. Wrong again, Mr Silly. I'm sure that if you keep posting you'll eventually come out with something that's correct. Laws of averages and all that.
