If Andrew Doyle is why does he still crop up on the BBC from time to time?

MintyFurball · 07/04/2024 12:21

If Andrew Doyle was an extremist that is

And? So? @Laughattheloons GB News is the only channel talking about the ongoing removal of women and girls human rights. So it can't be that bad a channel.

Oh, was it talking about this?

"A rightwing Christian lobby group that wants abortion to be banned has forged ties with an adviser to the prime minister and is drawing up policy briefings for politicians.
The UK branch of the US-based Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) has more than doubled its spending since 2020 and been appointed a stakeholder in a parliamentary group on religious freedoms in a role that grants it direct access to MPs.

The ADF’s efforts to boost its UK influence are revealed as part of an Observer analysis that shows a surge in activity within the wider anti-abortion movement.
Ahead of a historic vote on abortion later this spring, in which MPs will vote on a law that would abolish the criminal offence associated with a woman ending her own pregnancy in England and Wales, several anti-abortion campaign groups have expanded their teams, ramped up advertising and coordinated mass letter-writing campaigns targeting MPs.
The findings have led to calls for greater transparency and accountability over the groups’ funding and lobbying activities. The ADF in particular is an influential player on the US Christian right and part of a global network of hardline evangelical groups that were a driving force behind the repeal of Roe v Wade – the supreme court ruling that gave women the constitutional right to abortion and was overturned in 2022.
The group – which also supports outlawing sexual acts between consenting LGBTQ+ adults and funds US fringe groups attacking gay, trans and abortion rights – has faced claims its funding is not transparent due to its use of donor advised funds"

I don't know what that has to do with GB News or Peter Andre.

Anyone who accepts money to regularly go on GB news is not left wing, progressive, or a good person

That is a basic fact

Accepting money, appearing on, and promoting a channel that as a whole is designed to push a far right agenda is not something a ‘prpgressive person’ or anyone who was truly left wing would do.

The fact his alternate twitter account (that he denied for a long time was him btw) was banned multiple times for hate speech, the fact he hosts a show on GB news and promotes the channel in general directly counters every positive thing you’ve said about the man.

The fact you happily tune in for his show, bolstering the viewing figures and supporting the channel is not very left wing of you either.

The daily mail sometimes have journalists that are aligned with normal people’s thinking, what most decent people do though isn’t to buy the paper or log in online to read it because the operation as a whole is negative, and they don’t wish to support it financially.

My favourite tv news programme is channel 4 news. When they (or the BBC or ITV) start regularly featuring the guests who appear on Free Speech Nation, then I won't need to tune into GB News.

The same goes for newspapers.

I was a Guardian reader since my teens but a newspaper which favours the odious little Owen Jones over Hadley Freeman, is no longer the newspaper for me. The Guardian deserted women years ago.

I might disagree with the Dailly Mail on issues such as immigration but at least it covers the safeguarding fails of gender ideology and gives a voice to women who are silenced elsewhere.

Your self righteous pontificating makes me want to go out and buy a paper copy of the Daily Mail instead of just reading the occasional interesting article online.

I'm really fed up with people like you telling the rest of us what we should or should not do.

Purity spirals are tedious and symptomatic of the growing authoritarianism and intolerance of a certain section of the Left which just pushes people towards the Right.

I’m saying fat white men aren’t a group I care a dot about.

And there it is. A bigoted comment with no rational behind it. What about a fat white man with vulnerabilities, or a fat white man in poverty? If it was a fat black man would you ‘care a dot’?

CrawlOut · 07/04/2024 06:19

Really?! You have not read anything controversial about it? Or realised its stance and target audience by the presenters it chooses and topics it covers?

I appreciate you might not have an issue with it and it may align with your values, but I am surprised you are unaware why others have an issue.

Nope, no nothing about it at all

What’s your issue with fat white men? Is it because they are white?

Why would I?

Shabnamsshoos · 07/04/2024 10:39

I really hope you’re not trying to find any kind of equivalence between the N word and gammon. That’s offensive in itself. Get a grip.

They weren’t. The (terrible) argument was that gammon isn’t a given name therefore it’s not racist. The poster then gave examples to support the fact that a slur doesn’t have to be a given name. Nowhere did they say it was as bad. You’re either trying to derail in bad faith or are just not that clever.

Critical thinking really isn’t your forte is it

Your posts tend a lot to ad hominem. Feels defensive.

Because they are people too and not some weird top trumps game.
Who is allowed to be protected from name-calling? Who isn't? What if two of your highest top trumps categories disagree?

There’s no law that says she has to care about white men.

passthepenguin · 07/04/2024 13:17

What would you say if the comment was about black men?

Well done was just about to say the same, funny thing is there seems now to be an entire swath of people who enjoy goading white people knowing their is no defence to say the opposite.

Its seems they now feel the current political agenda now allows them to goad and snipe white people with impunity, knowing any retaliation will result in cancelation, claims of isms and legal action. Sad thing a silenced majority now see the elephant in the room.

i don’t consider it to be offensive. It’s using pig as an insult. That’s not the same as using a middle aged woman as an insult. Quite different in fact.

Sillypede · 07/04/2024 13:32

2dogsandabudgie · 07/04/2024 11:28

What's wrong with the poppy and housing our own people first, if in your view that makes me racist then I don't really care. Soldiers in the 1st and 2nd world wars did fight for our freedom. As for Sam Smith, I like his music but I think he's an attention seeking twat and his latest videos aren't suitable for children.

We could house all our homeless, we choose not to. It's nothing to do with immigration or refugees so to suggest we have a choice between "our own" and refugees or immigrants is disingenuous at best.

Labour's manifesto committed to ending homelessness, we know the opening lines if they'd won in 2017 or 2019 were to be

“‘Today, rough sleeping [and] homelessness ends. There will be no more homeless people in this country. The state will provide.”

We had a choice and chose to keep homelessness over Sovereignty, a sovereignty we've since spent giving away to foreign corporations.

If you use the word insult then offense if implied, isn't it.

Why do you need a label/insult?

Weird how if you Google "GBnews: and "anti-abortion lobby group" nothing is coming up. It's almost like there's only one issue surrounding women's rights they're discussing.

So they're not lobbying anti-abortion (good) and simply have a different view of gender issues (fair enough)?

There’s no law that says she has to care about white men.

There's no law to say @Otherstories2002 has to care about anyone. Yet here she is giving another perfect example of the oh so tolerant left not tolerating a particular group of people.
