To think there should be an English section on here?

AIBU to think that as there are sections for Scottish, Welsh and Irish posters on this site so why not one for the English and those who live in England?

So why isn't there one then? What reason do you object to it? Why don't we have devolution then?

From whom do you envisage power being devolved?

This thread reminds me of the daily mail comments section circa 2014.

You are confused. We don't have an English Government.....the Government at Westminster is UK & NI

I am not confused at all. The Westminster government is totally England centric. Mostly London centric.

DoubleBingo · 01/04/2024 09:05

Op there is a Scotland board because people from Scotland messaged mn and asked for it. It's as simple as that. I remember when it started. Go and ask mn for an England board.

DanielGault · 01/04/2024 09:11

Didn't there used to be some sort of regional section? Where you could ask regional questions? I could be imagining it 🤔

English here. Eerrrr nope.

Like saying should we have a white section as there's a space for black people.

Exactly

Agreed. Parliamentary sovereignty can still trump all other decisions by devolved governments if it wants to. Hugely England centric.

Might stop Scots moaning that English people presume this or that about the rest of the UK.

So OP it’s just Scottish people
you don’t want commenting…..

Well, that's depressing.

Previous IMD themes have included raising awareness of homelessness, male suicide, and positive role models for boys.

Scarlettpixie · 01/04/2024 09:38

As others have said there is no need for an england board because mums netters are predominantly english. I probably wouldn’t visit as I mainly use AIBU and occasionally visit Chat, Teens and a handful of others. I don’t think an england board would be very well used tbh. Most of what would be discussed there can be discussed on an existing board with enough footfall to have a decent discussion.

I find it interesting to read about the differences between the UK countries. Northern england and southern scotland have more in common than Northern and southern england so it isn’t that straightforward to separate. Yes some of the laws and school holidays are different but isn’t it nice to become aware of those things. Even in england you get people saying well that can’t be true as it is the easter holidays when different counties take different breaks. It amazes me that people didn’t now this but now they do. Same applies.

Not needed. What would we even discuss.

Then why are there other sections, Scots, Welsh, Irish? Are they more necessary? The responses don't surprise me, it's the usual attitude.

Indeed. The English are dreadfully underrepresented 🙄

Brilliant 😆
