To think there should be an English section on here?

AIBU to think that as there are sections for Scottish, Welsh and Irish posters on this site so why not one for the English and those who live in England?

“Treated differently”. What bollocks. 🙄

So why isn't there one then? What reason do you object to it? Why don't we have devolution then?

English here. Eerrrr nope.

Like saying should we have a white section as there's a space for black people.

StinkyWizzleteets · 31/03/2024 21:24

Great idea and then when people respond to other posts with their Anglo-centric responses they won’t have to assume it’s by an OP in England by default.

im bored hearing about Ocado now anyway so you can keep it in there

Maybe it would stop the "it is different here" comments though. I will ask the site.

You can but I think it will be a lonely place OP 😂. I mean this in the most non inflammatory way but did you also vote for Brexit? (Genuine question)

Seriously that is a shit comparison.

What would you discuss that's specifically English?

campden · 31/03/2024 21:24

No point in any of this.

What would you discuss that is specifically the other nations then? Only the same as what is discussed there.

It's not a bad comparison actually. You accept that a white section would be silly because most people in this country are white, presumably. I assume you think that whilst it would be bizarre and totally useless to have a white forum, you acknowledge that it might be useful/beneficial for minorty communities ie black/gay/Asian etc to have specific spaces in which to discuss particular issues that relate specifically to them?

BashfulClam · 31/03/2024 21:29

CaptainCarrot · 31/03/2024 21:09

Yes, someone else pointed this out. I can't imagine why the powers that be determined such a holiday was necessary, but there you have it. In any case, it isn't anywhere approaching the global significance of International Women's Day which is an important holiday in many countries (and should be important everywhere IMO).

I think it’s more to stop some twat whinging ‘we don’t have an international men’s day!’ Yes you do and are welcome promote it how you like.

I am aware of what the Welsh and Irish especially suffered due to the English and UK parliament/royalty but not to the extent of black people with slavery and that is why I think it is inappropriate. I don't begrudge them the various special sections though.

Are you so brittle that a post saying 'it's different here's disturbs you that much? Will your special English section need to be divided into different boroughs in that case? In case of difference? Maybe the local Facebook page might suit better?

So essentially, you just begrudge the Scots their own section.

I don't. Just curious where the English one is.

I wasn't referencing slavery or the oppression of the Irish. Simply that minority communities might have more niche, community specific matters to discuss. Slightly alarming that you went where you went.

Maybe I should have put "semi serious" in the title but it has been quite amusing to see how quickly it has taken for anti English spite to rise to the surface!

Again, most of us will be English though. I certainly am.

Seriously, you're like a parody now. Nothing stopping you from petitioning MN for a secret English only section. Knock yourself out.

It’s 90%+ of MN. What more do you want?

You are tedious.

We don’t care, hen! Honestly do what you like. You clearly don’t like the Scottish for whatever reason but just ask for your board.

I lived and worked in England for a while, I had a great time. Most of us honestly do not give it a second thought.

Please tell me you didn't just ask why we don't have a devolved English parliament. Or you aren't being serious...
