Aibu to ask if you have a famous DH

Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

Not DH but I have a famous friend (very famous in uk) they barely really go out anymore other than in London.
I'm well known in my (very small) town as I'm a long serving teacher, so every time I go out someone will stop and chat or say hello etc. Sometimes I love it but I do spend a lot of weekends going to different towns to be a bit anonymous. I cannot think of anything worse than being famous

RainbowZebraWarrior · 29/03/2024 22:10

No famous DH, but a couple of 'famous' exes.

When I was 18/19, I dated a 24 year old Greek footballer for two years who was the star player for AEK Athens (football club)

We would be walking down the street, and people would be constantly stopping us and shaking his hand. He had a penthouse apartment and owned lots of land. Everyone in his town idolised him.

I recently looked him up on social media, and he now looks about 70 and has no teeth. My best mate always said at the time that he looked about 34, not 24. He likely was 10 yrs older than he said he was. (So 16 yrs older than me at the time)

If only we had the Internet in 1990.

Femme2804 · 29/03/2024 22:11

I’m not from the UK. I dated a very famous singer back in my country. Is as famous as ed sheeran here. He is the best male singer in my country. Yes it was annoying. Everytime we go out there are people asking for photos and sign etc. They usually ask me to take the photos. He had very busy schedule. We rarely go out because of his busy schedule. Its not a life that i want eventhough the money is real good but i’m not happy with soo much attention. So i decided to leave him and i even leave the country because the news about us break up its so huge and i felt uncomfortable.

merrymelodies · 29/03/2024 22:17

Stealth boast much? And not much to boast about, TBH.

ghostyslovesheets · 29/03/2024 22:17

yes

tennesseewhiskey1 · 29/03/2024 22:20

OMG is he Fatboy Slim?!?! 😂 I love him.

ActuallyIreallydo · 29/03/2024 22:20

As my username suggests, I actually do have a fairly famous husband.

Why would it bother me? I am proud of him. We have very different careers but are both equally proud of each other. My manager laughs when I book time off to attend premieres and wrap parties as it sounds so far fetched in my field.

My DH also gets sponsored

No one cares.

Why not make a life for yourself rather than hanging on his Z list coat tails?

Trez1510 · 29/03/2024 22:08

Oh, you've just reminded me to do a bit of Eleveneriffing here.

My grandpa was once featured ON THE FRONT of the Scots' Magazine with an article on him inside!!

: : Limelight swings towards Trez1510 : :

How d'ya like them apples @FoxyLoxyLoo ??? 😛

Charging for a disco for his child's class?

For sure, much more semi fame infamy awaits Calvin Harris Esq if he insists on following that route!

You just had to steal my thunder didn’t you? There was a photo of DH on his tractor and everything. 😂.

Ll lights on @Trez1510 🌟🌟🌟🌟

StarDolphins · 29/03/2024 22:26

Not my DH but my Auntie’s brother had a girlfriend whose 2nd cousin was godmother to a guy whose sister was in a band.

To be honest, I tend to just go about my life quietly in the hope that no one makes the connection. The last thing I need is for people harassing my to try & work back through the people to get an autograph.

BirthdayRainbow · 29/03/2024 22:30

Some of these posts have reminded me I was in the paper aged nine. My dc have all been in baby magazines. We've all been on the tv several times.

Blimey. I'm technically famous and have forgotten. After one tv appearance a lady came up to me in a supermarket carpark and said you're that lady off the tv, I said yes, she said your dc is so lovely. I hope she does well.

Sorry everyone for letting you all down. I denied you all the chance to mock/celebrate me.

😁😆

WrenNatsworthy · 29/03/2024 22:30

I'm in a band - backing vocals.
We're not semi famous though. I think we have 700 followers on Facebook.
And I've not performed with them since Christmas because I've been too ill.

Do I win a prize?

My son is famous, but I rarely leave the house, have zero online presence apart from here, and still work as a cleaner. I am happy to live the way I do because he has well and truly earned everything he has achieved. I am immensely proud of him though.
Living anonymously is possible.

How can you rarely leave the house and work as a cleaner at the same time?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 29/03/2024 22:34

No, I don’t think I’d like to be married to someone famous (I’m not married at all in fact)

My aunt is sort of famous. I think if someone close to you is famous, or at least well known, you don’t see them as famous but just as themselves.

FoxyLoxyLoo · 29/03/2024 22:34

This thread is reminding me of the DH who was doing a T Rex in Asda - the OP is making little sense.

tennesseewhiskey1 · 29/03/2024 22:35

Oh wait - I am semi famous! I won a competition as part of a group who tried to look like the spice girls! I am basically Victoria Beckham.

Doteycat · 29/03/2024 22:38

Depends on what kind of movies you watch really.....

WrenNatsworthy · 29/03/2024 22:38

I was on an episode of 80s TV show 'Why don't you?'

AngelQuartz · 29/03/2024 22:50

Is your DDJ still going ahead with the year 6 leavers disco? Did you end up calling the other WhatsApp mum a ‘see you next Tuesday’ OP?

But, to answer this thread. No, my DH isn’t famous. But my father is. A sportsman, who also gets sponsored. He’s just a normal bloke.

Newsenmum · 29/03/2024 22:52

Mines so famous I sometimes wake up and faint!

Not really. But he does pay the bills.

I was on an episode of 80s TV show 'Why don't you?'

Love it.
My friend was on Wacaday playing Mallets Mallet. It was brilliant.

PigletJohn · 29/03/2024 22:55

I am so famous that one day when I was on the Buckingham Palace balcony with King Charles, a woman in the crowd nudged my friend and said "who's that guy on the balcony? The one next to PigletJohn?"

Lelophants · 29/03/2024 22:55

Op tell us you want to talk about your famous hunting without talking about your famous husband.

Are you happy?
