Aibu to ask if you have a famous DH

Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

I don't have a famous husband but my brother had a mobile disco in the 80s.

It didn't bother me and we didn't have to leave our estate at weekends to avoid groupies.

mitogoshi · 29/03/2024 21:39

Dated an actor once, was pretty weird tbh. He was "resting" aka years since a proper job (I don't count casualty, doctors or midsomer murders one off characters as proper work!) People would come up and ask if he was his character Confused. Anyway he was a bit full of himself and quite frankly didn't own a house at 50 so wasn't for me

GrowAndGreen · 29/03/2024 21:39

Soubriquet · 29/03/2024 21:35

If he was that well known, he would have done the disco for free and not “at a cost”

This. From an ex-semi-famous-\dj

Sidebeforeself · 29/03/2024 21:43

@wizzbitt I don’t believe you .. unless you are sponsored?!! 🤣

ImNotWhoYouThink · 29/03/2024 21:43

Waitingfordoggo · 29/03/2024 21:20

My DH once got sponsored for a sponsored swim when he was about 8- is that the sort of thing you mean?

I don’t really understand this thread. Surely you’re aware that most posters won’t have a famous or semi-famous or sponsored DH so I don’t know that you’ll find many posters able to share similar stories. Seems like maybe just an attempt to show-off?

😂😂😂

WrenNatsworthy · 29/03/2024 21:47

I am howling 🤣

OldTinHat · 29/03/2024 21:48

I'm 'famous' in my field of interest. TV, radio, press, interviews, books, talks. With many other peers/colleagues also media famous.

I've dropped back since my disabilities took over. But we're talking 30ys odd of this 'career' (which is really a hobby tbh).

OP, are you feeling overshadowed by your DH? Insecure? Anxious?

Please don't be. Your DH (famous DJ?!) is just a person who shits, farts and burps like all of us. He's just doing a job.

BobnLen · 29/03/2024 21:48

Two threads on this semi famous sponsored DH. I would go the whole hog and do an AMA

ToxicChristmas · 29/03/2024 21:48

This can't be real surely? The other thread is so embarrassing, nobody would charge a fee to play a bloody disco set for their own kids end of term party would they?! Especially someone who usually earns 4 figures and isn't on the bones of their arse.
Oh and I was sponsored by multiple companies as a rider and I'm not remotely famous. Means absolutely nothing.

WrenNatsworthy · 29/03/2024 21:49

I'm trying to think of 'semi famous' djs but I can only think of 'actually famous' ones.

OldTinHat · 29/03/2024 21:49

Oh and I also have a fab friend in the same industry and everyone spots her straight away - I'm always like, okay, I'll get the coffee then..!

OldTinHat · 29/03/2024 21:51

I don't understand that either. Wtf would you charge your child's school to do a disco?

Tight or egocentric?? Or broke?

whiskeycats · 29/03/2024 21:52

I have a friend who is married to a famous chef and know several people with famous parents but me personally no

grinandslothit · 29/03/2024 21:54

I don't think anybody really cares as much as you think they do

ParkerPipe · 29/03/2024 21:54

@MeadowL My husband, Fatboy Slim would like to ask your husband Dave Doubledecks if he would like a fight under Brighton pier? Also, he said he would do your kids disco for gratis. Fatboy reckons it's pretty shite charging your kid to do their disco for them

JacquesHarlow · 29/03/2024 21:55

MeadowL · 29/03/2024 21:24

I asked admin to take it down as it was outing 🙈🙊

I’m sorry @MeadowL that you have the kind of life where you need validation, envy or confused responses from strangers on a forum.

i mean, why else would you come back, after risking “outing” on a previous thread, to then try and play the guessing-game-by-proxy again?

Your husband may or may not have some level of fame. But what do you really want from people on here? Threads like this are usually started by folk who haven’t got the requisite buzz or recognition they thought they would from marrying a famous person, so they find some way of dropping it into everything, because the buzz and frisson of people trying to guess becomes addictive.

Honestly, find something else to do. I would.

FoxyLoxyLoo · 29/03/2024 21:55

My DH was featured in The Scottish Farmer does that count as famous? Let’s face it, It’s a total red neck charging a PTA for doing a disco.

Barbarachicken · 29/03/2024 21:56

Brandnewskytohangyourstarsupon · 29/03/2024 21:08

I’ve got a really fucking annoying husband.
So annoying he could be famous for it.

😂

LilFoxes · 29/03/2024 21:58

DH was a child actor. No one recognises him except a a couple of questionably die hard fans, but it's getting to the point the films are aging out of recognition. So technically yes, I've married someone who could have briefly been considered internationally famous long before I met him.

It's tough sometimes but I try really hard not to base my entire identity around it.

ThePoshUns · 29/03/2024 21:58

My DH runs a mobile disco 'mad Mel' everyone knows him. Has a sideline in hot dogs and hamburgers. It's exhausting, everyone wants to be his friend.

DeZerbisWinnerWinnerPastaDinner · 29/03/2024 22:01

My son is famous, but I rarely leave the house, have zero online presence apart from here, and still work as a cleaner. I am happy to live the way I do because he has well and truly earned everything he has achieved. I am immensely proud of him though.
Living anonymously is possible.

I mean he’s not that famous if he needs to charge the PTA £200 to do the Y6 leavers party.

😂😂😂😂 absolutely dying here

We once passed a long car ride by looking up what happened to all the child actors from our fave movies. Would never recognise any though but it is interesting to see what they ended up doing. The boy from Mary Poppins overdosed in early 20s which was sad to read. The girl from bedknobs and broomsticks went back to school and was bullied horribly. Charlie from Willy wonka became a dentist or something. There was articles and photos on just about all of them.

Oh, you've just reminded me to do a bit of Eleveneriffing here.

My grandpa was once featured ON THE FRONT of the Scots' Magazine with an article on him inside!!

: : Limelight swings towards Trez1510 : :

How d'ya like them apples @FoxyLoxyLoo ??? 😛

Charging for a disco for his child's class?

For sure, much more semi fame infamy awaits Calvin Harris Esq if he insists on following that route!
