Aibu to ask if you have a famous DH

Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

I have one friend who was married to a very famous 80s pop star. Drove her mad going anywhere as he had a following of devoted women who went to every gig, watched the house, followed them shopping and on days out. It was relentless.

My DH once got sponsored for a sponsored swim when he was about 8- is that the sort of thing you mean?

I don’t really understand this thread. Surely you’re aware that most posters won’t have a famous or semi-famous or sponsored DH so I don’t know that you’ll find many posters able to share similar stories. Seems like maybe just an attempt to show-off?

What's your experience with super fans Meadow? I'd imagine it could be quite intrusive.

My friend is married to an internationally famous man. He was famous when he chose to marry her.

Despite this, she lives on her nerves, even though she's beautiful and a wonderful person. She is perpetually waiting for the 'right' much younger woman to turn his head.

It's no way to live and, as I say, she is both beautiful and a wonderful person.

It must be even worse if you're neither of these things to suddenly find yourself with a 'semi famous' husband, particularly one who has found semi-fame (whatever that is, really) after choosing to marry you i.e. before the offers were flooding in.

I suspect my oldest son will be famous. I’ve no idea how it will all pan out but there is potential for him to be really famous in the next year or 2. (He’s 14 nearly 15). I’m not really sure what it will mean potentially I may have to give up work. Would change our lives that’s for sure, but I suspect I would prefer my life now if it changed drastically.

Do you have to buy a ticket to get a buffet and a free first drink, or do his entourage get that as a freebie?

My DH is ex pro sport. It wasn’t annoying in people approaching sense unless at events etc but when we moved house into a small village near the club a few people (new neighbours) used to come and chat at our door for ages about the sport and his team as they were fans and he did get a bit annoyed because often it was after the team had lost etc! We had no gates at that point as the house was a bit of a project. And he was often peed off about it aswell and had no interest in hearing their opinions on what he could have done etc. It’s a bit like coming home from work then people coming to your house to talk about the crap day you’ve had. Was overkill and a bit intrusive I think. But doesn’t last long in the grand scheme of life!!! Found the very frequent and unrelenting travel harder tbh.

My husband goes out in his disguise of unkempt hair/beard/baseball cap but that’s become his trademark so I have to scrub him up in a suit…. Oh no, that doesn’t work either… he once shaved off his hair and eyebrows about 20 years ago but that didn’t help… I tried putting him in a long coat and shades but even then people knew who he was. We’ve given up and he rides the subway occasionally without bother but we could never go out en famille as his fan base think he’s still single.

Yes, he has written a novel. First in a series, it’s currently being published and we are in talks with a producer to see if there is interest to make it into a movie. I mean it may all fall in a heap and come to nothing or it may take off. We just don’t know. He’s just glad at this point to be getting the actual book to be able to give out. He has used a pen name (which was his choice) so that may end up being a blessing if it does all come off.
