Aibu to ask if you have a famous DH

Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

I'm not going to name him.

He's a very well known and international DJ, and has been since the 90's. He started on pirate radio stations and illegal raves and now gets to headline festivals worldwide. He is already booked through to the end of next year.

💃

It's Tony Blackburn!

Stickinthemuddle · 30/03/2024 15:36

Michelle is that you? Mark is not a legit DJ, love

Fleetheart · 30/03/2024 15:39

I do not have a DH, nor do I have a DP. I am not famous.

flamebrick · 30/03/2024 15:40

Waitingfordoggo · 30/03/2024 15:32

Oooh that’s interesting @flamebrick. Is your DH Korean?

DH is mixed Japanese-Chinese, but was not supposed to mention the Chinese heritage!

FoxyLoxyLoo · 30/03/2024 15:40

I was discussing this thread with DH which was overheard by DS2. I’ve just been informed that our nephew is TikTok famous so I had a wee look and there he is with half a million followers. He’s coming for lunch tomorrow and I’ll be having a chat about online safety…. Some of the comments from women are interesting to say the least, I need to go and bleach my brain after watching some of his content.

Unicorntearsofgin · 30/03/2024 15:41

I’ve had a crap day today so thanks OP for the thread it’s comedy gold.

I went through a phase of dating DJs and a few actors and in London no one gives a shiny shit. Which is as it should be - it’s just a job.

I really want to know if he still charging a bunch of ten year olds to DJ for them as that’s the far more interesting question.

Fannyfiggs · 30/03/2024 15:43

OPs DH is DJ EZ...

I’ve got a really fucking annoying husband.
So annoying he could be famous for it.

Oh, he must be related to mine 😂

effoffwind · 30/03/2024 15:51

Hey can I join in ... autographs must cover postage costs

A few years ago I tried OLD never again----
Anyway , I matched and chatted for a while 17 minutes with the bloke who went on First Dates and was paired up with the mum of one of the girls in Little Mix

He was really boring 🥱

Uricon2 · 30/03/2024 15:52

Just remembered I got a Blue Peter badge in about 1969. Me and brother of Tiswas fame made pizza and sent drawings of it in.

What's that Internationally Protected Person thing? I think I might need it.

ETA in interests of total disclosure, Mum helped quite a bit.

This is so funny. He was s supposedly famous let you are worried another parent hosting a cinema trip will steal his limelight 😆 you live on a different planet don't you?

Lives under a bloody bridge more like!

AliceA2021 · 30/03/2024 15:59

Why would someone boast about a club DJ from the 1990's who plays the circuit now still.

What and charges his kids primary school 200 quid to do a set and you’re worried another parent will steal his limelight if he can’t do that set? Are you having a laugh of some sort? Internaltional star behaviour that is not. That’s the local village dj that is.

ididnotcapturethecastle · 30/03/2024 16:06

I don't have a famous DH, but I do have a very rare double genetic mutation which makes me something of a celebrity at the various hospital I'm being treated at 😵

Bigcoatweather · 30/03/2024 16:07

My ex was a well known pro rugby player. I had no appreciation of rugby, hadn’t attended or watched a match before. I had to get used to people coming over to our table for autographs when we went out for food and stopping him to have the same conversations over and over about his team.
I didn’t mind people doing that, but I felt uncomfortable in the way they’d be eyeing me up to see what his girlfriend looked like and it was a level of scrutiny (plus the staring in the street)I didn’t really want.
I hated that girls would literally hustle me out of the way to speak with him and on nights out would be throwing themselves at him, so I never felt comfortable when he was away touring, despite him being very sweet and loving to me. I also felt if we ever hit a bad patch it had an argument, he’d have little resistance against the onslaught of wannabe WAGS.
Not for me, thanks. He also didn’t want me to have a career as his training schedule meant he had lots of daytime free and wanted me to go on tours with him.
Reader, I left him 😊

I do detect some envy though 🤔

Not one person is envious of your international famous husband who needs the limelight from his kids primary and charges to cover his petrol money. Not one.

FacePlants · 30/03/2024 16:15

@MeadowL what do you do? Or is marrying a DJ from the 90s your career?

How tight arse is that!

Well I’m sorry but I am considerably famouser than you because I got my BP badge by appearing on the show. When I was 18. I won’t bang on about it though as I don’t want to make the OP envious!

lollypoop · 30/03/2024 16:19

Not me but my older cousin is married to an famous retired professional football player. They have a lot of kids and the marriage at least these days is a very happy one, I don't think he was ever a cheater but was a bit of a handful in other ways. They are very well off and have an really beautiful home but neither of them enjoy the attention his fame brings them and they are forever dodging fans which I think limits their freedom in life a bit but they do have the money to compensate. I don't really know him that well as they live quite far from the rest of the family now.

My Mum's cousin is married to a musician who's band had a moment in the 90's were on TOPs a few times. However I wouldn't say he is famous and their success was short lived. He has never done a normal job though and has been dedicated to his "music" even when they lived in relative poverty and his wife was working two jobs. He shows up to family events with shades on and seems to think everyone will want a piece of him due to his "celebrity" but nobody is fussed about him, in fact most of us think he's a bit of a waster.

I was sponsored by Bickerdyke's Finest Organic Yorkshire Horse Manure once. Oddly enough, I got loads of free Oakley sunglasses.

Ooh!!!! How are they related? I never even knew they were

Dontcallmescarface · 30/03/2024 16:25

DD once had a job where she was dressed as The Gruffalo. It did raise a few eyebrows from nearby diners at a family meal out when she said "nobody knows who I am without my head on" though.
