Aibu to ask if you have a famous DH

Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

I had a famous BIL when I was married, people used to ask me to get tickets for his gigs, I used to have to break it to them gently that while he was an incredible singer and performer he was an unpleasant man and difficult to approach.

Ahem, any... hints?!

TwirlyWhirlie · 30/03/2024 16:28

David and I prefer to keep ourselves to ourselves really ⚽️ 🥅

My ex was on Record Breakers. His class broke an amazing record- most kids doing roly polys dressed as clowns.
Amazing. Can't believe he chose to go out with me!
True fact about Record Breakers though.

That seems to be the obvious way to break a record: just make it as random and obscure as you can.

If you just go for 'jumping double decker buses with a motorbike', anybody anywhere in the world can easily have a shot at it and potentially get the record; but if you go slightly more specific and go for the record for 'the most double decker buses used regularly on the 16A route between Bovey Tracey and Buckfastleigh, jumped by a man named Colin Perkins on a Yamaha P4800 with a number plate starting DT54 L', it's a shade easier to eradicate the competition.

My DH used to be an MP and his minor celebrity it was an inconvenience at the best of times and horrendous at others.

The inconvenience was some people fawning over him or awkward conversations when people were slagging him off. Being lectured by taxi drivers and others. Every time I bought and paid for tickets to something getting accused of freebies. I could never express my opinion online in case it ended up in the local paper as MP's wife says...

Horrendous varied from hate on social media through to rubbish being dumped in our garden, threats of violence, having to carry attack alarms, emergency plans with school for the children's safety. Having to install CCTV on the house and twice being told by special branch to leave our home for days for safety.

He's no longer one and enough time has passed for him to be lovely and obscure again.

That sounds horrendous. Really sorry that you've had to endure this.
Some people are absolute twats.

Why would someone boast about a club DJ from the 1990's who plays the circuit now still.

Well he headlines festivals according to OP. Trying to guess his age, prob 50ish maybe mid to late 50s.

Even though I don’t mind some of his stuff I’m reminded of Norman Cook desperately trying to look and act younger. 🤣

TheIcecreamManCometh · 30/03/2024 16:53

Norm is 60 now!

Him and Zoe didn't actually divorce until 2020?? Confused Shock Wow!
I thought they'd divorced ages ago but they didn't actually split until 2016.
I knew they'd had the rough patch when Woody was small but I hadn't realised they were together for 18 years.

FacePlants · 30/03/2024 16:15

@MeadowL what do you do? Or is marrying a DJ from the 90s your career?

Sounds like it.
Riding on his coat tails.

KattyBoomBoom95 · 30/03/2024 17:14

This is the OP that's married to Rik Waller isn't it?

MrsWentworthIPresume · 30/03/2024 17:18

Not famous husband or anything, but a lovely former colleague of mine, has a famous actor friend, and he often told us he encouraged people to go up to him for autographs, telling them he loved it.
They are all actually lovely people, so they just laugh and get on with it.
The actors friend, my former colleague is one of the nicest people, he should be famous !

Yes my DH is a movie star. It's quite the life. SO busy and hectic for months at a time, but his money gives us a wonderful life.

🐂💩

Axx · 30/03/2024 17:42

A world famous DJ charging "at cost" to headline the end of year 6 disco has really really tickled me 🤣🤣🤣

Howling at that, Bachman Turner Overdrive will now be stuck in my head all day!

Does he do a lot of good work for charidee?

People should stop being nasty. If u don’t like the thread don’t read it. Op is entitled to talk about what she wants, and everyone has a choice if they post or not. Why are people so bitter

I agree! Some of these posts are coming across as mean.

Brandnewskytohangyourstarsupon · 29/03/2024 21:08

I’ve got a really fucking annoying husband.
So annoying he could be famous for it.

😂😂😂

pleasecallmeback · 30/03/2024 18:05

My husband is very very very famous, think David Tennant only better looking and sexier.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 30/03/2024 18:23

Mine has been recognised in public a few times, it is a bit weird but happens in frequently and is fairly low key so not an issue.

Buying a magazine in WHSMITH with his face on the front cover was a bizarre experience though!

ButtockUp · 30/03/2024 18:37

OP, I'm sorry, but being an internationally known DJ probably means that your husband does some gigs in Ibiza.
Yes that scene attracts thousands but over 99% of the British population will have no idea who is is. You must realise that.

An Ibiza DJ will be unheard of at a Year 6 party.

I also suspect that most Ibiza DJs will volunteer to host a children's party.

I think you might be hung up on a wistful , wannabe celebrity who has no standing on British radio, else he'd have been snapped up.

DJing to drunks and coke heads, in the Balearics or it's surrounds does not a celebrity make.

GymBergerac · 30/03/2024 18:37

I once got recognised by a guy at parkrun because he'd seen me in an article I'd written for the parkrun website....
Does that count?! 🤣

Toothbrushh · 30/03/2024 18:40

Is he kind of like the Mobile DJ who comes to do the year six disco when all the boys get a bit sweaty and he has a foam thing that they love

Toothbrushh · 30/03/2024 18:41

My h getx Ah. Are you related to MRS toothbrush.

all. The. Time.

ThisTealZebra · 30/03/2024 18:50

My DH is a Guinness record holder. Someoneone recognised him once it was funny

GellerYeller · 30/03/2024 18:52

I got confused by the Mrs Toothbrush comment that your DH was Chris Evans (Don’t Forget your Toothbrush was his quiz show wasn’t it?).
I don’t know any Ibiza DJs but this would have been so much fun if OPs DH turned out to be Ken Bruce or Michael Ball, rocking up to the Year 6 disco with all the Radio 2 easy listening classics!

pleasecallmeback · 30/03/2024 18:54

Isn’t Chris Toothbrush Evans really unwell?

Does he live up to Mr TenInches reputation too?

tennesseewhiskey1 · 30/03/2024 19:00

I know who it is. DAVID FUCKING GUETTA. 🎉🎉🎉👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I cant wait to see him in Ibiza this year! 😂🚨
