Aibu to ask if you have a famous DH

Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

I'd give you loads of juicy details OP, but I wouldn't like to make you feel bad about your clear attempt at a brag. I mean local discos, WOWZERS!

I am so sorry but I am howling here! I have an image in my head of a middle aged bloke with questionable fashion sense setting up in a school hall and shouting Shabba at the kids after every song! You op in my head take your blokes legendary status all in your stride. As I picture you know you have a blond beehive haircut ,black tights and white slingbacks sat at his side eating a potted meat sandwhich out of tinfoil you made at home to bring with you, desperately struggling to undo a thermos flask of coffee.. either way fame is a fickle thing as a warning, please be aware school halls with Dave the dawg today (the dizzying heights I know!) next week the care home christmas party! How will you both come with the stardom I do not know..just enjoy it for now and make sure those pesky kids don;t spill blackcurrant juice on his decks....Shabba!

Enjoy it while it lasts. I have a friend who is married to a bloke who was a regular in a show which was on telly through the 90s and early 00s. He’s a total has-been now, hasn’t worked in over 10 years other than a couple of episodes of Casualty, barely anyone recognizes him anymore and she’s been having to support him ever since.

Yeah, MIL was household name in the 80's...barely gets recognised now and lives a quiet life in small semi detached house ( money runs out when work stops).

She gets the occasional acting job and advert, and actors don't have a retirement age, so you never know - might be 'big' again one day!

How can you rarely leave the house and work as a cleaner at the same time?

Wfh

Is there a MN competition for the Bank Hols entitled "Who can start the most threads that make them look like a complete and utter plonker"?

I must have missed the announcement.

In his industry he is famous , yes.

Similar to my DH, and his dad's the same.

whatdidshedotogetahillnamedafterher · 30/03/2024 08:21

I can't cope! Woke the kids up laughing! What I was thinking though reading the title again...semi-famous bit. My husband had a famous semi most of the last year, neither use or ornament really despite the viagra!

JJathome · 30/03/2024 08:23

Are people drunk when they start these threads. I’m struggling to find another explanation 😂

DramaLlamaBangBang · 30/03/2024 08:23

My sil works as a receptionist at the local over 60's social club. Going around town with her is like hanging out with a local celebrity. We can't go anywhere without some old dears coming up to her and asking her if she's going to be in on Tuesday or how much they missed her that morning, or whether Zumba Gold is still on!

Missamyp · 30/03/2024 08:25

I heard that op's DP gained fame for his DJing skills at a school disco. I wonder if he'll create a 30-second drop video promo for TikTok. It's quite amusing to think about. 😂
On a different note, it's been said that DP has a history of womanising, according to his friend's ex-partner. Rather embarrassing for him as she told the whole courtyard bar area and myself quite soon after we'd just met. At this point, DP had been pretending to be Father Teresa and was practically sinless.

FeetupTvon · 30/03/2024 08:25

Yes, I have a family member who is famous, world-wide famous.
However, I don’t feel the need to tell others.
They too are sponsored, however I don’t feel the need to tell others, they too get spoken to by people wherever they go however, I don’t feel the need to tell others.
In all honestly, I find your post odd.

SkyBloo · 30/03/2024 08:26

A friend is married to an athlete who was top of his sport for a while (think olympic gold, world championships etc). So was on telly a bit etc. But you'd never recognise him in the street now unless you followed that sport, he wasn't like jessica ennis-hill or chris hoy etc who got tv ads and stuff although he did did get loads of sponsorships & free stuff.

peachie82 · 30/03/2024 08:27

My daughter was on Secret Life of 5 Year Olds a few years back, that show where kids are put together and are filmed doing different tasks and interacting with each other. It was great fun! After it aired she was recognised a few times, once by a lady on the cash desk at Tesco who asked for her autograph and another time at a petting farm where a family kept staring then the teenage girl came over to as if it was the little girl from the programme and that she had been their favourite. All very cute at the time and lovely memories for the week we filmed in London one boiling hot summer.

Chitterlina · 30/03/2024 08:28

MeadowL · 29/03/2024 21:11

My DH also gets sponsored

Swimming or walking?

We once passed a long car ride by looking up what happened to all the child actors from our fave movies. Would never recognise any though but it is interesting to see what they ended up doing. The boy from Mary Poppins overdosed in early 20s which was sad to read. The girl from bedknobs and broomsticks went back to school and was bullied horribly. Charlie from Willy wonka became a dentist or something. There was articles and photos on just about all of them.

Matthew Garber - the boy from
Mary Poppins, I believe died from Hepatitis not an overdose.

@MeadowL My husband, Fatboy Slim would like to ask your husband Dave Doubledecks if he would like a fight under Brighton pier? Also, he said he would do your kids disco for gratis. Fatboy reckons it's pretty shite charging your kid to do their disco for them

That’s absolutely made my day! Thank you 😂😂

TiredCatLady · 30/03/2024 08:31

@PitterPatter3 Brookside?

Giggorata · 30/03/2024 08:32

DS got sponsored by the skateboarding shop when he was younger.
Not one of the general public knew who he was, only other skaters.

But he did get an arch of skateboards at his wedding.

whatdidshedotogetahillnamedafterher · 30/03/2024 08:33

I am so shamelessly over invested in this thread. All I know for sure is you know when you have made it big when the PTA come knocking! Ahh bless you OP Good luck to the both of you! Now back in the real world I am off to make the beds...shabba!

Trulyme · 30/03/2024 08:35

Do you not trust him OP?

I didn’t read your other thread, so I’m just wondering why it would be an issue for you.

I know a Z list celeb who is very well known locally, in many parts of the UK and in some other countries and I have to tell you that I feel very sorry for his wife.

I actually think an A list celeb would be much less narcissistic and big headed.

This man does get a lot of attention and he thinks he’s Gods gift to women.

I don’t know why the wife stays with him tbh as he makes out like she’s lucky to be with him.
