Aibu to ask if you have a famous DH

Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

My DF's name is in a book!

One of my classmates was on the popular quiz show Blockbusters in the 80s. But by then he was in sixth form and the school I had decided I wasn't staying on so I didn't get to bask in any reflected glory.

I wasn't bitter though because it soon became apparent that fate had other plans for me. One of my brothers went on Going for Gold with Henry Kelly! He only lasted 3 rounds, but did get a screenshot his picture in the local paper.

Sometimes people ask if I miss those heady days of fame by association, but I always tell them I have no regrets - I like the person I've become, and wouldn't want it to have changed me 🤷‍♂️

Oh my God it’s so annoying isn’t it. My husband is also a little famous. He’s the local Headteacher. Everywhere we go we have kids chasing us down the street “Mr Johnson……. Look it’s Mr Johnson……. Hello Mr Johnson!”

I am now really worried that I had a chat with a famous sportsperson the other day at a railway station. He was by himself, if he had been with anyone else, I wouldn't have spoken to him. I didn't ask for a selfie.

My dd and all her class just done a sponsored bunny event in aid of the school playground...does that mean she's famous.

Essentially fame of any kind isn't a guarantee of how much you are truly liked as a person. How many of us have met our 'hero's' only to discover we dont actually 'like'them at all. I know someone who has alot of fame and they are very unpleasant and I avoid them at all costs.

I did briefly work with someone whose husband is very famous and very recognisable - he is a v quiet, unassuming man (I met him once at their house) and they live a quiet life. I think he tries to disguise a bit when they go out, with a baseball cap etc. although I am often in their area and never see him around (and it’s the sort of area you’d go for coffee etc).

I spent time as a prop on the Muppets. My husband gives me little credit for it…

too outing .. however let's just say there's an A list famous person who doesn't like DP very much.. even though i dint think they've ever even met

There are quite a few very famous people where I live - show biz actors and presenters mainly.
If they are out and about, we just ignore them. The only times we would have a chat is if we were both walking our dogs and they were playing/ doing zoomies together so we would talk about our dogs, the weather etc. As you would with any fellow dog walker

Absolutely! I know two people who, when they were children, met famous people - one met Jimmy Saville and the other met Rolf Harris (obviously in the era before either characters true colours emerged) Both children had been excited about the prospect of meeting someone famous and both were disappointed. In fact the child who met Jimmy Saville told her mother afterwards that he was "not nice". This was when he was at the height of his fame (she was in a large group of girl guides who were invited to watch him film a programme in a studio in London)

Your weren’t the Numbertaker were you? My DC was scared of him and I did wonder why they styled a character in the manner of an undertaker for a CBeebies show!!

My late DSis was on a documentary called 40 minutes in the 80s. I was also in some of the clips so does that make me famous?
My not so DB is also on a couple of documentaries as he’s an infamous mass murderer. Luckily no one knows I’m related to him so for that I count my lucky stars!

I have also held a BAFTA - belonging another old friend’s husband who has become much more famous since we first met them over 20 years ago (although I’m not in touch with the friend now they are again v nice and unassuming people and live in a regular house in a decent area.

I remember asking her what her dh did and she told me he was an actor - I’d never heard of him and felt a bit bad - now he’s achieved very well.

Same here. We can’t go out for a meal anywhere vaguely local without an ex pupil serving us or waving at him through the window. Sometimes both! Tough times
