The thing that men do that is completely normal to most people, but gives you the ick?

Mine is men wearing long socks with shorts. I'm sorry I just can't

Body builders, especially if protein powder is involved.

Men drinking from the those water bottles that have an inbuilt straw instead of tipping them up like a sports cap. I could never sleep with a man again after seeing that.

Adult sippy cups

What's icky about that?

Drinking hot squash instead 🤮

Bitten nails with horrible short nail beds.

I prefer that to nails with any length on them. My DH started growing his nails to a normal length and I was sickened. Fortunately he started biting them again anyway.

This is a bit weird and I fully acknowledge that, but I find men being fathers of young children really off putting. Could be the hottest guy in the world but as soon as he's holding a baby? No.

I’ve only just come back to this thread and now had time to read through your various comments.
My post was not about a man’s appearance which seems to be your main criticism of other posts and the OP asked about irrational icks. I answered the lighthearted question as asked yet you still take issue with my harmless remarks.
You come across as a strangely angry person.

Angry?
No, just saddened.

I have a similar thing - men who are 'too' involved in raising their child. I know that sounds daft given that they absolutely should be involved, but it's the type/level of involvement that I find off-putting. I work in a nursery and a lot of the dads with babies constantly ask about sleep routines and food eaten, and know the ins and outs of how many dribble bibs their child has, and they get all fussy if they think a routine hasn't been followed to the letter, or start panicking if a bib or sock has gone astray. (My own dad was a brilliant and engaged father but he didn't flap if I woke up 30 minutes early.). I find that level of involvement deeply unattractive, for some reason.

One father, in an attempt to get his toddler out of the door and into the car, uttered the words 'Come on darling, daddy's made muffins at home.'

Instant turn-off.

Aw, I love it when men are as involved as mothers in parenting. I think mums or dads that become obsessed with routine are difficult to deal with though.

I do hate it when shit fathers parade their newborn or toddler around in public like a doting dad, but you know in private they do fuck all and don’t even know where their kids vests are kept or what they like to eat. That’s an ick. <shudder>

Devilshands · 30/03/2024 07:32

Male civil servants wearing full suit and tie - particularly fast streamers. Even my PUS doesn’t! Just gives me the ick in so many ways

Planetmuff · 30/03/2024 07:40

Men who say 'tummy' or 'belly' to describe their anatomy.

Lol I work for the CS and we have a few who come in like that, then on the other hand we also have some men who come in in full grey tracksuits and a baseball cap.

Even if they're a decent man just looking for parenting/husbanding advice/support? They do exist, even if the internet suggests otherwise?

Tummy sounds so gross for a grown adult to say.

FootballFriend · 30/03/2024 08:56

@Jewelanemone haha, sounds like a male character from Motherland.

BluePombear · 30/03/2024 09:28

Velcro wallet on a chain

Shoelaces untied and flying all over the place

Jeans which are too long and have been trodden on at the heel resulting in 'stirrup' like holes 😵

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 30/03/2024 09:40

The staged, clichèd photo of the bloke leaving the maternity ward carrying the car seat. It smacks of “I’ve got him now”. Sorry, to me it does
