To ask for your most minor, irrational ick?

The thing that men do that is completely normal to most people, but gives you the ick?

Mine is men wearing long socks with shorts. I'm sorry I just can't

I don’t understand @KeinLiebeslied54321 - are you worried that a man with small hands / fish breath / insert other ick might accidentally come upon this post and be offended? No one has been named individually. Seems like you and @Guardian800 are (for some reason) white-knighting for a load of men who a) aren’t here and b) probably wouldn’t even recognise themselves from the descriptions even if they were here

We're simply calling out what you've been doing.

MurderousCheekbones · 29/03/2024 17:13

After this thread, I've added a new ick.

Men who use 'bashing'. It sounds like something my 11 year old would say.

It's more icky to do it in the first place.

KeinLiebeslied54321 · 29/03/2024 11:29

You know what I meant - it's apparently ok for overweight men's clothing to give us 'the ick' but if we said that about overweight women's clothing......

😴I wouldn't have a problem with it either way.

KeinLiebeslied54321 · 29/03/2024 19:24

Mookie81 · 29/03/2024 19:22

You wouldn't have a problem slating a person's appearance, for no good reason?
Ok then.

Mookie81 · 29/03/2024 19:33

Best thing to do is let the 2 fools on here be their own echo chamber while the rest of us completely ignore them.😊

It's clear which echo chamber is full. Crack on though, make yourself feel all smug.

DH does this really loud sneeze when he's ill. I love him but Ugh.

KeinLiebeslied54321 · 29/03/2024 13:30

Oh, I am sure you would, yes. 😫

I’ve only just come back to this thread and now had time to read through your various comments.
My post was not about a man’s appearance which seems to be your main criticism of other posts and the OP asked about irrational icks. I answered the lighthearted question as asked yet you still take issue with my harmless remarks.
You come across as a strangely angry person.

SocksAndTheCity · 29/03/2024 20:05

I would say meanness, but that's neither minor nor irrational.

Wearing collared shirts with a crew neck jumper or sweatshirt. Waxed jackets in a city centre (although I have a huge aversion to them anyway, to be honest).

Ordering a round of drinks in a ostentatious way, or any other type of showboating when paying for something in public.

People who hold their knife and fork in the wrong hands

It should be fork in left, knife in right.

Not if you’re left handed like me. It’s the opposite. Except I eat with my fork in my left hand/ knife in my right hand.

MurderousCheekbones · 29/03/2024 20:27

@KeinLiebeslied54321 you have bored the absolute shit out of this thread. It is allowed to discuss what we do or do not find attractive about people.

Be offended all you like! But stop trying to preach and teach, it's so relentlessly dull. Consider your work here done and off you pop.

Cycling. Fine if they’re heading to work on an old bike with their lunch in a backpack and wearing hi-viz, instant turn-off if they’re wearing lycra and out in a pack doing 10mph whilst looking like they’re putting in enough effort for the Olympics.🤢

Yup major ick!

Oh yes this… unbearable. DH is so lazy with cutting them and his long(ish) finger and toe nails scratch me in bed 😖

People claiming to be "a bit OCD" about something.
No.... there's no "a bit OCD".
Obsessive compulsive disorder is a genuine recognised and diagnosed condition that can be completely debilitating to the people who suffer with it.
There isn't a month that goes by where I don't hear someone say they are a bit OCD about this or that. No. You like it done that way and have a preference. But if its not done that way... nothing happens to you. You might wrinkle your nose a bit and that's it.
If it were any other mental health condition you were claiming to have and essentially mocking or belittling then in this day and age you would be put in your place, but for some reason people are OK with saying it about OCD.

THIS!!!!!

poorly - yes. For some reason this word turns my stomach. A guy once said to me he had a "poorly tummy" and it made me feel ill.

Don't mind 'poorly' but can't stand the expression 'she's a bit fluey'. People are not fluey; they have the flu; and, if they truly do, there's usually no 'a bit' about it.
