Perhaps it was the 'yeah' at the start which suggested I was challenging your view as opposed to agreeing with it. I have seen it used in that way too.

I have a colleague who constantly wears the same baseball cap to work. The exact same cap (unless he's got many in the same colour) and he's in his 30s. Makes me wonder how often he washes it 🤢 aibu to get the ick over that?
