The thing that men do that is completely normal to most people, but gives you the ick?

Mine is men wearing long socks with shorts. I'm sorry I just can't

Men with small hands really give me the ick. shudder

You must spend a lot of your life feeling ill if someone saying "poorly" does it for you. Have you thought about therapy?

I’m in Scotland and don’t hear people say poorly in real life. Thankfully.

I only really hear it on TV or read it online.

It’s such a pathetic way of describing not feeling well.

The whole point of the thread is that they're irrational. It's a bit of fun. No-one appreciates being picked at.

Good gaslighting there 👌

it's not fun when when some of the posters are projecting blatant sexism against men. Sorry if that annoys you but these things need to be called out regardless of whether it is misogyny or misandry.

Gaslighting? It literally says irrational in the title.

"Misandry"? Come off it, as if there's any comparison between the oppression and violence suffered by women worldwide at the hands of men since time immemorial and some women making fun of man buns. Not engaging any further with this kind of MRA nonsense.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 29/03/2024 10:51

It is a shame some people are ruining this thread by taking it too seriously or going all MRA.

Irrational is in the title, it's clearly lighthearted!

You won't engage because you refuse to see the blindingly obvious. The way women talk about men on some of these posts is frankly appalling and nasty.

You need to understand the broader perspective here - just saying ☝️

Yup I also can’t stand that word.

Commenting on men's physical features which they can do nothing about is disgusting- I assure you if there was a thread about men talking about women's features in this way the whole world would go mad

the double standards are reprehensible

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 29/03/2024 10:55

Is Guardian800 Owen Jones?? He probably has some extra time right now.

Haven't RTFT but my ick is when men greet each other in that over the top way - "here he is, the man the myth the legend, Mr Bridger! How are you doing sir? Top man" etc etc

Men who use umbrellas

lol! Me too.

I will add a few, some already mentioned
-man bun
-man perm
man highlights
small soft hands
sloping triangle shoulders
hairy backs
posh public school voice
Dress shoes with jeans
sleeveless T-shirts

ooh, and men who say “we're pregnant” rather than my wife / partner is pregnant

Noyesnoyes · 29/03/2024 11:16

@SocksAndTheCity are you for real? @Guardian800 is 100% right!

You on the other hand ..... sound unhinged! Probably gives most men the ick!

let me know if you require any assistance with trying to articulate an intelligent response 😉

BoomBoom70 · 29/03/2024 11:17

Guardian 800 I’ve also just been posting on the other thread about things that I find attractive in men. 😂

That's all well and good but saying things like "posh voices" or "sloping shoulders " or "hairy backs" - none of these features can be changed and it's derogatory towards men because you are placing a judgment on someone's worthiness by the physical attributes. Just imagine if there was a man posting "just for fun" I hate small boobs or women with big bums or whatever- women would be perfectly right in calling out sexist crap. There are some posters on here just talking about obvious icks which we all accept but not when it is blatantly about making crude or cruel comments about a man's appearance

sorry but equality works both ways - that's all

MaybeWeShouldGoToEastbourne · 29/03/2024 11:28

Most of the arguing on this thread is pointless since the ick isn’t just things about men you find unattractive

The concept is that you found someone attractive, and then they did something that put you off, usually something mundane that is irrational to be bothered about - but you just can’t get over it

DutyBound · 29/03/2024 11:28

Long nails (on everyone)
'cheeky' as a description (applies to everyone too)

Coming from someone who clearly doesn't know what irrational or minor means, maybe best work on yourself first.

KeinLiebeslied54321 · 29/03/2024 11:29

Mookie81 · 29/03/2024 10:09

Probably, but this isn't a thread about women it's about men who give use the ick so 🤷🏾‍♀️😉

You know what I meant - it's apparently ok for overweight men's clothing to give us 'the ick' but if we said that about overweight women's clothing......

bossybloss · 29/03/2024 11:30

Using the term “ butter soft “ to describe leather ! I can’t describe why it annoys me so much. Maybe as it really is the wrong description!!

Yeah, 'ick' has turned into man bashing.

Why do the po faced fun sponges have to derail lighthearted threads
