To ask if ASMR fingernail tapping on products annoys you?

Lighthearted but wondering if it’s just me. Was watching an ad for a perfume supplier on Facebook. Someone was unboxing three bottles and in each case drummed their fingernails rapidly on the side of each box, then on the glass bottle. I know that ASMR trend is nothing new but it’s fecking everywhere and I find it really irritating 😅 Scrolled through the comments below the video but no-one else seemed to be similarly irked by the tapping. Perhaps I’m just a grumpy millennial… anyone else in that club?

All ASMR makes me feel really tense and angry and like my flesh is crawling. I just don't get it at all, more than that I anti get it. It's rage inducing.

I cannot fathom how it's developed? Universally the sound of tapping nails has been acknowledged as rude/ irksome/ attention seeking/ annoying to all but the nail owner. That still seems the case in real life. Why is it on short clips this known annoying sound is supposed to be enjoyable? I'm with you op.

I love ASMR 😍😍😍 sorry for not being in the anti-ASMR camp 🤣🤣 I find it so relaxing. My favourite trigger is gentle,
inaudible whispering. Weirdly, I also quite like ‘mukbang’ (which is where people film themselves eating noisily), even though I would absolutely loathe that with a passion if I was being subjected to it in real life.

I love ASMR too, particularly the tapping on containers. I can't explain it.

This. All this. My cousin finds it really relaxing, and doesn't understand why all the whispering and weird sounds make me ragey. I don't understand how it can possibly be soothing.

Hate tapping and whispering but love listening to people writing. The online videos aren't the same as in real life though.

I hate hate anything asmr. Inaudible whispering is from horror movies and nail tapping is vile. I hate sm videos where it's cooking and they do all the chopping sound's etc.. puke

I do appreciate ASMR videos when done properly but these days internet is flooded with stuff that's called ASMR but actually isn't.
I like things such as hair brushing and washing, make up bag rummaging, cleaning and sweeping, art and craft noises.
Any tapping or repetitive sound to me has the opposite effect of what ASMR should be, I hate it (same also with eating/mouth noises).

Luckily there are plenty of ASMR creators who share content labelled as "no tapping".

Some asmr works for me but there are far too many jumping on the bandwagon who are rubbish at it.

Yes, there are some I enjoy too - there’s a whole series of videos on YouTube where the person filming wanders through rainy locations in Japan at night, nothing but the sound of rain falling on their umbrella and I love it - so soothing! But the tapping… urgh!!

I just don't watch that shit so can't get annoyed by it.
