To ask if ASMR fingernail tapping on products annoys you?

Lighthearted but wondering if it’s just me. Was watching an ad for a perfume supplier on Facebook. Someone was unboxing three bottles and in each case drummed their fingernails rapidly on the side of each box, then on the glass bottle. I know that ASMR trend is nothing new but it’s fecking everywhere and I find it really irritating 😅 Scrolled through the comments below the video but no-one else seemed to be similarly irked by the tapping. Perhaps I’m just a grumpy millennial… anyone else in that club?

I feel embarrassed for them, jumping on a bandwagon. Like those posts where they say ‘she doesn’t know it yet but…’ and ‘to the 40 year old woman who…’ 🙄

Infuriating.

Hate it. Also the repeated tapping on things for emphasis.

Explain the product waggling? I’ve obviously only just started noticing it, but it’s mystifying and terribly annoying!

I don't get it either, but it is spectacularly enraging. Something kept bobbing up on Instagram where a model kept waggling a tube of some age-defying nonsense next to her expensive cheekbone, and it made me feel murderous.

Yes no need for it

Account734 · 27/08/2025 16:42

It annoys me intensely, I can't stand it!

The wonderful German word for this is 'fremdschämen' - literally 'foreign (second hand) embarrassment'.

Language of philosophers.

Oh, that’s perfect!

Also the teeny weeny fuzzy microphones and the putting the product against their hand as if it helps with focus when they don’t keep it still for five seconds anyway.
