I saw my neighbours bringing food shopping in today

The big shop

A post on another thread here reminded me. I often think about when on earth do my neighbours do food shopping as I never see them bringing food shopping in…ev😂
Whereas I’m always laden with bags
I wfh so notice lots, no delivery vans and never see (aside from this time) neighbours bringing food bags in.

Is this just me and my street

My DH used to do our shop daily and bring it all home in his everyday sized backpack (we live up a hill and have no car).

He loved shopping that way and I only stopped him from doing it 2 years ago as he'd been poorly for a spell and we'd tried online supermarket deliveries and I liked them - and having him home more!

He'd still do the shopping daily if I'd let him, and I'm 100% sure that if we had the sort of neighbours who noticed they'd have no idea how we got our food in....

Cabbagepatchkid2 · 25/03/2024 22:38

I don’t see my neighbours doing anything at all generally (and that’s the way I like it)

All the houses in our road have front gardens with driveways and either bushes/trees or electric gates at the front so I really only see our immediate neighbours maybe once or twice a year!

FoxyLoxyLoo · 25/03/2024 22:43

I’m so glad we don’t have neighbours. Some of the threads on here are weird, why would anyone care if the neighbours bring shopping in or not? There was another one earlier about someone googling people they’d met on holiday - how odd.

Zombies obviously.
Actually - get a life?

Me and my partner have lived in the same block of 50+ flats for 25 years and have only ever seen about 10 other residents, who also seem to have all lived here for 25+ years. I've never even seen all the people who live on our floor

I have however, seen them with shopping, and delivery vans come as well

BeMyGuest · 25/03/2024 22:59

Funnily enough I was talking about this with my dc today. We have never seen any of our neighbours with food shopping. We have open driveways so we can see each other all along the road and across the road. I would expect to at least see next door as I see them in and out of the car next to mine every day.

We live five minutes walk from a major supermarket and we have never seen any of them in there either and I go there every other day at different times.

I wonder if they see me food shopping as I feel that’s all I do.

It must be dreadful to be unable to spot a lighthearted post.

WotNoUserName · 25/03/2024 23:07

I've seen my neighbour bring their shopping home, and they've seen me with mine. I also saw a takeaway being delivered once, only once though, they've probably seen millions delivered here (son who regularly orders stuff)

I've seen online delivery trucks in my road, but haven't really taken much notice of which house they go to.

I haven't seen the other neighbours come home with shopping, though they don't have a car so may get daily shops. I did see them leave the house today with a small child in a pushchair, I've only ever seen an older (reception/year 1 sort of age) child there so that was surprise!

LynetteScavo · 25/03/2024 23:18

I've never seen my neighbours getting their big shop in...apart from
the couple over the road who seem to just buy one small bag of food. I think. I've seen more ambulances than food shops. I've also seen lots of holiday departures, so it's not like I'm not nosey.

cakecoffeecakecoffee · 25/03/2024 23:20

No, I never see mine bringing shopping in. Though they often see me taking mine in!

I have however bumped into them in Morrisons.

Magnalux · 25/03/2024 23:20

Also, I live near three families all with children in various stages of school, so like me would need to do a lot of grocery shopping, I never meet them in the supermarket, we don’t live in a big city or anything so there’s not a whole lot of options for food shopping, it always amazes me how in 20 years I’ve never bumped into them in there!

AngelQuartz · 25/03/2024 23:45

God there’s some sour-faced-Susan’s on this thread 😵‍💫

OP, I know exactly what you mean! I’ve only seen the Asda delivery van once outside my neighbours, and I’ve lived here 19 years.

I rarely notice pizza or Chinese deliveries getting delivered to my neighbours, but in our house it’s a weekly occurrence.

mumda · 25/03/2024 23:46

I'm going to freak my neighbours out by not having a Tuesday big shop delivered tomorrow.

MrsClatterbuck · 25/03/2024 23:50

I haven't seen most of our neighbours bringing in food shopping whereas I think that they all must think that dh and I eat an awful lot of food because I seem to alway be taking shopping into the house. I actually feel very subconscious about it now

PyongyangKipperbang · 25/03/2024 23:51

Not clocked food shop but the reason I know that neighbours over the road and up a bit never cook is that their evening food delivery happens just as I am leaving for work. Driver invariably double parks and no one can get past. As a result I know that they have Maccies most days and the occasional KFC.

Never seen them though!

NotAgainWilson · 26/03/2024 00:06

I just simply don’t spend so much time looking at my neighbours, in fact none at all so I don’t even know how some of them look.

SplendidUtterly · 26/03/2024 00:07

The neighbours to the left of me never have a food shop, i also have never seen them take food bags in. Their bin is never put out, washing never pegged out. In the summer the windows aren't open except the small top bathroom window. Other strange going ons that i cant be assed mentioning happen. I also joke and say "am i living in a sim?"😄

RandomButtons · 26/03/2024 00:08

i swear one of my neighbours has a daily delivery from Tescos. There’s always a van blocking the street.

Notthatcatagain · 26/03/2024 00:18

The house opposite me had a canabis grow. The police raided was very entertaining. The photographs had to be seen to be believed. Dozens of huge pots, all full of compost and what must have been a couple of van loads of electrics. Never saw them carry so much as a watering can into the house, I don't think the guy that stayed there even had a car.

I've never seen my neighbours bring in any large boxes marked IKEA Pax, yet I noticed the other day when the light was on in their bedroom that they now have a triple with the mirrored doors. Looks a bit too big for the room if I'm honest.

Is a triple 3 single tall Pax units or 3 double pax wardrobes? Couldn’t picture it 😂

Doingtheboxerbeat · 26/03/2024 00:40

This was one of these glitch in the matrix type memes that only people who are chronically online will have heard - like the latter day version of I've never seen a baby pigeon . So I think a lot of people are missing the point and I don't think you are a nosey neighbour op 😊.

SuperstarDeejay · 26/03/2024 01:10

We go out to do our supermarket shopping around 7-10pm generally.

So if you're only stalking your neighbours WFH during the day, that might explain it.

RawBloomers · 26/03/2024 01:15

I have also never seen your neighbours bringing in a food shop before. Perhaps they’ve been eating via WonkaVision until now?

bizzey · 26/03/2024 01:21

Forget the shopping ...how come all my neighbours have sparkling clean windows ....yet I never see them cleaning them ,,not have I ever seen a window cleaner in this area !!

Why are mine the only half hearted smeared ones ! 😂

bizzey · 26/03/2024 01:23

Actually ....change the half hearted smeared...and let's be truthful...

Dirty !! 😂
