I saw my neighbours bringing food shopping in today

The big shop

A post on another thread here reminded me. I often think about when on earth do my neighbours do food shopping as I never see them bringing food shopping in…ev😂
Whereas I’m always laden with bags
I wfh so notice lots, no delivery vans and never see (aside from this time) neighbours bringing food bags in.

Is this just me and my street

I don't understand
Why shouldn't they bring in shopping?

SayFuckTheLemonsAndBail · 25/03/2024 21:49

I don't know or care whether my neighbours are doing their food shop.

Rosestulips · 25/03/2024 21:50

i think I saw this on a Instagram post or something. Yes your neighbours must food shop but I’m with you and have never really noticed them bringing a food shop in, nor do I see them ordering takeaways 😂

Mull · 25/03/2024 21:51

Ooh, I know what you mean! We’ve lived here 11yrs and I have NEVER seen my neighbours bring in food bags.

ThinWomansBrain · 25/03/2024 21:52

@mumsnet can there be a separate channel please for weirdos obsessed with when their neighbours go shopping.

LibbyLemoncake · 25/03/2024 21:55

I have never seen my neighbours bring in shopping, food or otherwise and I have lived here 20 years.

LadyKenya · 25/03/2024 21:57

Tomorrow is the day that the council empty the bins, I may see my neighbours putting out rubbish, does that count? But seriously, I don't really think about how my neighbours get their food. There are more interesting things going on.

LadyKenya · 25/03/2024 21:58

I do see the odd Ocado, or Tesco van near by though.

DeZerbisWinnerWinnerPastaDinner · 25/03/2024 21:59

Me neither, but that's because I'm at work all day. During the winter months, I don't even see daylight, let alone neighbours, to be honest.

TheSnowyOwl · 25/03/2024 21:59

Now you mention it, I never see my neighbours bringing in their food shopping either.

SheepAndSword · 25/03/2024 22:01

I haven't got the remotest interest in what my neighbours do unless it's antisocial

Questions124 · 25/03/2024 22:01

I saw a thread about this earlier on in the week that there’s a glitch in the matrix as we never see neighbours bringing in food shopping. I think that’s what the OP is referring to. It made me think as in my 16 years of living here I have never seen my neighbours unloading their food shopping etc!

DarkAndBright · 25/03/2024 22:04

Now you've voiced it, the simulation knows and makes sure that you do see it.... Spooky

Fortheloveofgodwoman · 25/03/2024 22:04

I have no interest in my neighbours, but it was just something that I thought about when I saw my neighbour doing it, even then there was only a few bags. I have loads in the big shop once per week and a couple of days during the ask with a bag or two. I have never seen any other neighbours bringing their shopping in, we don’t have driveways & park on the street, so it could be easily seen 😂

It’s because everyone else in the world you don’t really know is an animation/not a real character, so all those bits like shopping, going to the toilets etc haven’t been written in for them as it’s assumed you won’t notice……..

Fortheloveofgodwoman · 25/03/2024 22:08

I *Do see them taking the rubbish out..,they just must rarely eat

I do. Frequently.

mdinbc · 25/03/2024 22:19

Funny you should notice this...

My older sister knows every car in her neighbourhood, and those of the relatives as well! She's not necessarily nosy, she just very observant and remembers! She once was telling me that her neighbour had a new baby, and usually her mum visited on Sundays. I kind of shook my head and asked how she could possibly know; she's never met the mum, she just sees the car on sundays with an older woman so puts two and two together!

I'm terribly unobservant with my neighbours. If someone died or there was a burglary it would pass by unnoticed.

5128gap · 25/03/2024 22:25

I've never seen my neighbours bring in any large boxes marked IKEA Pax, yet I noticed the other day when the light was on in their bedroom that they now have a triple with the mirrored doors. Looks a bit too big for the room if I'm honest.

toomuchcardboard · 25/03/2024 22:28

All your neighbours are vampires. They are getting food in to feed their next victims - you!!!
RUN AWAY - NOW!

KohlaParasaurus · 25/03/2024 22:34

I feel as if I'm always bringing in food shopping and sometimes wonder if the neighbours think I'm a hoarder or a glutton or I'm raising an army in my little house. It's reassuring to know that they actually never see any of it, just like, now I think about it, I never see any of them bringing food home even though I see them out and about all the time.

They seem to be able to fill their bins a lot fuller than I can fill my bins, though. What's that about, when they never bring anything home to put in the bin? Do their houses eventually contain a negative amount of stuff?

CherryBerry99 · 25/03/2024 22:37

You have witnessed a rare sighting!! It's so weird how you NEVER see neighbours bringing in shopping, does it randomly materialise in their kitchens?! 🤣🤣
