I don't know how it happened

Had one at 11am and liked it so much I had another.

One when walking the dog then another when I came back to warm me up with tea.

Two when watching a crap film, the repeat for Netflix

Then two must've jumped into my mouth

I couldn't manage 10 @timegoesbysoso (probably 4 in one sitting,) but I do admire your work! Grin

I have been known to eat an entire 180 gm crunchie bar in one sitting however, though I did feel wretched and sick afterwards. Sad I think on reflection, a third of a bar would have been enough! 🍫

If eating the equivalent of 60 teaspoons of sugar in a day isn't a binge, what do you consider binge eating to be?

Yep it is a binge

and I don’t know why op is being lauded by some as “amazing”

usually people on here are obsessed with protein. You have to have protein at every single meal. Cereal or toast for breakfast is seen as terrible. You need eggs or meat!!

mumsnet is so random

I used the word 'odd' back to you as you used it in your post when you said that no one would think those eating habits are odd - I would and certainly so in an adult.
And yes it IS greedy - so what? Eating 10 creme eggs in a day is also greedy but you seem perfectly ok with that.

Edited

Its not an 'eating habit' though is it?

And greedy is a hugely moral judgement. Food and eating habits should have no morals attached to them.

Yes Im fine with that (apart from the fact that creme eggs are revolting).

Have you seen this bad boy OP !

ooh that looks so nice! I really could not eat 10 creme eggs in one day though.

Ilovecakey · 24/03/2024 14:33

Mini eggs are better and the small easter eggs, I've been having a small easter egg most days

@Allfur no one mentioned addiction except you.

I do think there is a very problematic and widespread addiction on MN though - the addiction to being a self righteous, moralistic thread shitter in a bid to show people how much better you are because you are ‘healthy’ and therefore ‘better’ than everyone else, often whilst blowing something completely out of context to really get the judgement in.

People with an unbalanced view of food in either direction are as unhealthy as each other but there are far many more orthorexics getting in a faint about people ‘gorging’ (never eating) an occasional unhealthy food than there are people going on threads to criticise ‘healthy’ eating, which is often just diet culture or disordered eating under the guise of health.

If a total stranger eating crème eggs at Easter gets you whipped into an addiction mindset with zero context, it’s not the OP who has an issue with food.

I agree with this comment about eating imbalances in either direction. Obviously eating three healthy ( by which I mean complex carbs, protein and plenty of veg and fruit) meals a day as a normal diet is a good way to live, and we do try ( generally but would never make a scene if out or visiting) to avoid too many upfs. But you aren’t going to implode if you occasionally have a bit of joyful indulgence and eat a pudding after Sunday lunch at the pub or a few chocolate eggs over the Easter break. It’s all this “ne’er shall it cross my hallowed lips “ that grates.

I once went on a date with a very body conscious guy. He was clearly delighted with his appearance ( though he was actually a bit too soigné for me. I like a guy to look a bit nonchalant about his appearance.) He was such a bore about what he “could and couldn’t” eat all through the meal and finally I asked so do you never depart from
your regime. He looked all confidential and said with a flourish “ well if I’m feeling VERY wicked I sometimes … have a low fat lemon flavoured yoghurt.” I immediately wanted to go home.

Alltheyearround · 24/03/2024 14:44

Accident happen. I had one an hour ago, I dipped it in very hot tea to melt the pointy end. Yum. I have more in the cupboard and a sweet tooth but tbh I can only do one a day as they are mega sweet.

I wasn’t suggesting my Type 1 was due to Creme eggs. I was being sarcastic - hence the eye rolling 🙄 because I was very pissed off at the usual crap being trotted out about “diabetes” and so pointed out that Type 1 was an auto-immune condition.

The Daily Mail is a big culprit for this - putting different conditions (the different types of diabetes) under one “diabetes”. This makes people think that all types of diabetes are related to diet and lifestyle and can be reversed, etc.

Yes I know which is why I said you said it in a jokey way.
I should have said sarcastic.

But as you say lots of people believe type 1 is from diet, so I wanted to clear it up as it’s something that I know a lot of people get judged on.

Trulyme · 24/03/2024 14:49

I have actually gone and got myself some cream eggs from the shop - thanks OP!

Although I’ll limit myself to 1 or 2 because else I’ll be sick and I want to lose a stone by summer! 😁

You realise of course that its different horses for different courses?

I personally have to eat a lot of protein in comparison to most average diets, and I would mention the benefits of this on a thread where someone is asking for advice but I also am able to engage with a lighthearted thread and call out the moral judgers who seem to think OP is greedy and odd and going to drop dead from one day's over indulgence.

Its not random, its being able to understand that we're all different and different responses are needed for different threads.

And its not a binge.

BreatheAndFocus · 24/03/2024 10:27

Ooh, does it? Brilliant - I’ll tell my consultant. The poor dear thinks that my Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune condition. Silly her, eh? She should have known it was the creme eggs 🙄

There is more than one type of diabetes.

Type 2 is caused by a build up of fat around your pancreas.

Eating like the op does raises your risk of type 2 diabetes.

Calories, fats and sugars aren’t bad things, the weird moralising around food on this site is worrying, honestly

My post didn't say they were.
I simply said if that's what you want in your body then drive on.
So maybe we're in agreement with each other.
Or maybe it's actually you projecting some sort of moralising around food.....?

effoffwind · 24/03/2024 15:07

This is the side of Mumsnet I really despise

A light hearted thread of a confession of a one off pig out has brought out the addiction/ diabetes / eating disorder / greed / alcohol / calorie counters / sniping that just spoils the overall joy of someone who will know doubt feel sick , have the shits , regret eating them all when none left for tomorrow and will need an extra floss before bed that the majority of us recognise as unhealthy and not something we'd do every day

Absolutely no one is advocating doing this regularly
Why not just scroll on by if you can't read the room , give a little tut and enjoy your carrot sticks that some of us might enjoy tomorrow ? Or not ...

'if thats what you want in your body'

We all need fats, sugars and calories in our bodies, its sort of how we stay alive.

Over40Overdating · 24/03/2024 15:10

@Calliopespa that guy would have gotten on well with some of the posters on here!

Honestly, if I ever get to the point of a low fat lemon yoghurt being a wicked indulgence, I sincerely hope someone will suffocate me with a chocolate cake.

Totally agree with you, except I dont know why people keep insinuating that she'll have the shits tomorrow, why?

effoffwind · 24/03/2024 15:17

@soupfiend I'd have the shits if I overate shite .. mind you , not so much chocolate but ice cream ...

deragod · 24/03/2024 15:18

(I do have eating disorder but other people are not me. I guess the most vocal about others eating habits are the less aware of own problems.)

Cream Eggs are gift from Satan. You are unreasonable, for future accidents have Carmel eggs in handy.

Newsenmum · 24/03/2024 15:20

lol eating too much chocolate in one day isn’t binge eating disorder

I don’t think there’s any other way to read this other than negatively?

10 over the day is not a binge.

“Binge eating is a serious mental illness where people eat very large quantities of food in a short space of time without feeling like they’re in control of what they’re doing.”

Caswallonthefox · 24/03/2024 15:38

Having googled it, I'm kinda right.
Creme eggs have shrunk since the 70's in the US and have grown in the UK. However, they still taste greasy and have no flavour.

timegoesbysoso · 24/03/2024 15:39

Hi all

Wow, some range of responses. Good and not so good Confused

It was definitely a one off. I don't eat chocolate that much but had been given a box of 10 and just ate them instead of cooking.

Already been to the gym today and did some yoga too. Fit and healthy overall and no food issues etc.

It's ok to have a splurge or eat what you crave every now and then.

Have a lovely Sunday all
