I don't know how it happened

Had one at 11am and liked it so much I had another.

One when walking the dog then another when I came back to warm me up with tea.

Two when watching a crap film, the repeat for Netflix

Then two must've jumped into my mouth

I've just 'researched' baklava, it has similar amounts of sugar per piece as a creme egg but you can bet your life no one would think it odd that someone had 10 pieces of baklava over a whole day, if they were at a wedding or celebration or something

I would think it pretty odd and greedy especially for an adult to do this.

Would you? They're tiny.

And highly celebratory (or not dependent on where you are when eating)

hamstersarse · 24/03/2024 11:08

This thread highlights just how varied the definition of 'a balanced diet' is.

I cannot imagine eating 10 baklava in a year never mind a day.

Also, it is so odd that people who don't gorge on 10 creme eggs in a day are 'joyless'. I just cannot see how you get joy from that. I have many things that bring me joy but 10 creme eggs would just bring the shits and nausea.

Over40Overdating · 24/03/2024 11:09

@soupfiend interesting! Didn’t know that. There’s also a type which straddles both conditions which is rare but leads to people (especially those who don’t fit the ‘sugar guzzling pig’ stereotype people love to trot out for type 2 Diabetics) being dx’d as type 2 but becoming insulting dependent very quickly - LADA I think?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 24/03/2024 11:11

I just don’t like them so I can’t imagine it. Those little Lindt eggs though, I could imagine eating a load of those…

Icantbedoingwithit · 24/03/2024 11:11

I just think it’s gluttony. Plain and simple.

stayathomer · 24/03/2024 11:12

It’s Easter. I can also see how it would happen. (One after the other would have been a different story!)

Your body, your choice.

Yup.
If you want all of those calories, fats and sugars in you, knock yourself out.

I remember attending quite a lot of medical appointments with him and getting my head round it at the time but now cant remember a thing about it

If eating the equivalent of 60 teaspoons of sugar in a day isn't a binge, what do you consider binge eating to be?

Binge eating is an eating disorder where someone consumes a very large quantity of food in a small space of time. Usually outside of their control / its compulsive eating.

The term binge eating is very often used incorrectly.

Over40Overdating · 24/03/2024 11:14

@alwaysmovingforwards very gracious of you. I hope you feel validated in feeling superior to OP and everyone else who isn’t a joyless misery 😇

Exactly, having a nibble of them at various points throughout the day is not a 'binge'.

But although I dont like creme eggs, I have been thinking about my lovely box of lindt chocolates since this thread popped up, I havent opened it yet

Nobody is saying those who don't eat (you can say eat, it doesn't have to be hyperbolic language the whole time) 10 creme eggs in a day are joyless.

The ones who come onto a thread and tell op she's gluttonous, greedy, gorging, binge eating etc are absolutely joyless though.

Ops happy, people are having a laugh, it's clearly not a regular thing or there wouldn't even be a post about it.

To come into a generally fun thread just to piss on ops chips is joyless.

Its your attitude rather than your eating habits that point to you being joyless

Most people have times when they enjoy something a lot, whether that be some chocolate they've bought, a cake, watching telly all day, staying in bed all day, reading all day, all done to 'excess' compared to normal everyday life

To pearl clutch about that certainly does point you out as joyless

I bet there are things you do that other people wouldnt dream of doing either.

I dont think anyone has suggested/claimed that 10 creme eggs makes up the basic component of a 'balanced diet' have they?

I don't feel superior to anyone and we all get joy in different ways.
I you derive pleasure eating 10 creme eggs, you go then go for it!
Why stop at 10 eh?
By your logic you'll double the joy by having 20!

You were attacked by them. None of this is your fault.
Thankfully this year Waitrose have stopped selling Montezuma's peanut butter eggs because they used to jump into my mouth EVERY time I bought them and opened the packet (s).

Funny enough Aldi sell a cheap version of these and whilst you start off with the first egg thinking how they taste nothing like the Montezuma ones and curse cheap chocolate, they suddenly become so addictive!

I know this post is lighthearted but it’s also a serious point. Does excessive sugar consumption affect breast milk? I don’t know. Does it push out more nutritious food? I guess it must. I do remember thinking about this while breastfeeding. Weirdly I ate very little sugar breastfeeding my first but more with my second. I think it was more about being comforted . I felt more emotionally deprived having a toddler and a baby, rather than just a baby

Was the second a girl? It really sweetens the milk and there are old wives tales ( that I happen to have found to be true) that baby girls like sweeter milk.

I mean not by much. Broadly speaking the basic breast milk “ recipe” is pretty much governed by your body: that’s the point. It will adjust the fat etc as your baby grows which is why they say it is so ideal ( and why formula tries to ape this with numbered versions). Not knocking formula btw.

The sugar 😂☠️

Hmm … not sure. At some point nausea must set in …

Not in a year? That’s quite uptight imo. That would be one piece of baklava or similar a month, which isn’t going to register on your health.

Wetblanket78 · 24/03/2024 12:00

I don't like them but do pig out on Cadbury's caramel and all the different mini eggs. Really gutted there's no Galaxy golden eggs this year I loved them. They're not available all year round so that's my excuse for pigging out. Grab it and make the most of it while you can.

Itsallsostressful · 24/03/2024 12:02

Have you seen this bad boy OP !

To have eaten 10 creme eggs today?
OooScotland · 24/03/2024 12:05

That’s a lot of fondant. I hate fondant but if you love it then I can see how it could happen.

It’s done now. Probably have a word with yourself about doing it again though!

Thefeedbackisnotok · 24/03/2024 12:05

I used to love them but in recent years they haven’t tasted the same so I don’t bother now 😭
