I don't know how it happened

Had one at 11am and liked it so much I had another.

One when walking the dog then another when I came back to warm me up with tea.

Two when watching a crap film, the repeat for Netflix

Then two must've jumped into my mouth

Ooh - I love a cream egg . Good effort.

One of my colleagues bought a box of about 50 out of date cream eggs a couple of years ago - they were a bargain at 10p each. He bought them into the office and we gorged on them for around a week. The filling had crystallised a bit and they were a bit sickly - it put me off cream eggs for a while.

@Georgethecat1 ooh does that mean if I’m breastfeeding I get a free pass? I have a pack of four in the garage and I’m tempted. I’m more of a Lindt fan though generally. Maybe I should shove a bunny or two in my mouth. Give those teeth a wash of sugar! Won’t be able to fit my salad in.

I know this post is lighthearted but it’s also a serious point. Does excessive sugar consumption affect breast milk? I don’t know. Does it push out more nutritious food? I guess it must. I do remember thinking about this while breastfeeding. Weirdly I ate very little sugar breastfeeding my first but more with my second. I think it was more about being comforted . I felt more emotionally deprived having a toddler and a baby, rather than just a baby

Ooh, does it? Brilliant - I’ll tell my consultant. The poor dear thinks that my Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune condition. Silly her, eh? She should have known it was the creme eggs 🙄

Type 1 diabetes is different to type 2 diabetes.

You can get type 2 diabetes by eating too much sugar.

Type 2 diabetes can also be reversed but type 1 can’t unfortunately.

Most people in this country(and USA) have type 2 diabetes which can be reversed if they changed their diet and lost weight.

Newsenmum · 24/03/2024 10:36

I’m now going to go and eat a creme egg. And yes @Trulyme but type 2 still isn’t caused by too much sugar, it’s by being overweight.

Marchingonagain · 24/03/2024 10:36

Thing is, if you were used to feelin fairly healthy you’d feel like utter shit after only eating basically sugar all day and no actual food. It’s not about judgment but I’m wondering what OP’s baseline is for just feeling generally well

A bit simplistic.

Most people with diabetes Type 2 are overweight.

So they have eaten too much of everything for many years.

Sugar doesn't cause diabetes.

What does it insulin resistance. This is when your pancreas gives up and can't deal with high levels of glucose in your body because it's worn out basically.

It's worn out not just with sugar, but all refined carbs that are broken down into glycogen.

You’ve gone and researched just how much is in a cream egg

Oh god they’re so horrible these days! Crappy greasy chocolate and the filling is sort of gritty…

Yes, which was my point. I get really pissed off when people make inaccurate statements about “diabetes” when they mean a specific Type.

More than that, you’d be very surprised at the ignorance about Type 1 and the comments people, especially children, get. Far too many people think it’s caused by sugar. Imagine being an 8yr old overwhelmed by a diagnosis of Type 1 and then having twats telling you it’s because you ate too many sweets.

diamondpony80 · 24/03/2024 10:42

If I had 10 in the house they'd be gone so I have to ration myself!

Gravelgraze · 24/03/2024 10:42

Not sure if it’s the crème eggs or my taste buds that have changed but I’ve gone right off them in recent years. Unfortunately the same doesn’t apply to other brands. The galaxy ones filled with gooey caramel or the Lindt truffle mini eggs are my downfall 😋

Over40Overdating · 24/03/2024 10:43

I see the righteous miseries with a dodgy grasp on biology but full faith in their lack of knowledge are out in full force.

Type 1 diabetes is an auto immune disorder unrelated to sugar consumption.

Type 2 is primarily a food related disease but does have genetic components for some and is caused by insulin resistance which comes from a build up of fat around the internal organs. Even non sugar eating thin people get type 2 because it’s not as simplistic as eating sugar = diabetes.

I couldn’t eat 10 crème eggs because they have changed the filling to be too thick now but all bets are off with mini eggs!

Howbizarre22 · 24/03/2024 10:45

I love you 🤣🤣🤣

buswankerz · 24/03/2024 10:47

That sounds like the best day, I might do the same

Excellent effort OP! I've given up chocolate for Kent but could easily eat 6 a day even though they are t as no e as they used to be.

As long as your pancreas works fine then don't worry about your blood sugar and you won't get diabetes. Some people have completely the wrong idea about sugar. I'm a big fan and my blood glucose and HbA1C are perfect.

Just don't tell your dentist about this😬

The people of Kent salute you

Yes you are correct.

My post was in reply to a poster who suggested her type 1 was due to too many creams eggs in a jokey way, so I was just pointing out that type 1 and type 2 are very different and type 2 is usually caused by diet but type 1 isn’t.

I mean it’ll be affecting the baby less than consuming it whilst pregnant. I consumed a fair bit whilst pregnant 😳 but my excuse is more the toddler than the baby. I think like everything, moderation is key.

timegoesbysoso · 24/03/2024 00:04

I blame it on being clumsy. Things just fall into my mouth as I potter around. Usually cheese to fair but chocolate today

I'll 'pass' on the cream eggs as I find them a bit sickly...but I do agree with you about cheese...it has a habit of crying out to me: 'eat me, eat me'. So I do (be rude not to).

WaterWeasel · 24/03/2024 10:55

I ate two on one day last week and felt quite unwell for a couple of days but I eat very little sugar usually and had quite a strong reaction to so much in one go.

I have no idea how you could eat ten of them on one day OP but your body, your choice I guess.

Chance the word to ‘googled’. Is there a need to be so pedantic?

Newsenmum · 24/03/2024 10:56

I was more disgusted by a uni friend who are 10 McDonald’s burgers in a row. 🤢 But I guess 18 year olds can get away with a lot!

Xmasbaby11 · 24/03/2024 10:57

I could easily eat that much chocolate over a day, and I’d have normal meals as well. Certainly not in one go but from morning to late evening, I absolutely could if I let myself. I have a sweet tooth! I don’t let myself though.

I think it’s more common than you think to binge on chocolate etc. sugar is addictive and chocolate isn’t filling the way savoury food like bread is. I have friends who’ll eat a lot of chocolate every evening, let’s say equivalent of 4 crème eggs. They are not happy about it - they don’t broadcast it - but it happens.

Its the sort of article I would enjoy reading though. I dont find there are enough articles about nice things!

Ive just 'researched' baklava, it has similar amounts of sugar per piece as a creme egg but you can bet your life no one would think it odd that someone had 10 pieces of baklava over a whole day, if they were at a wedding or celebration or something. And while the context might be different the sugar content is similar and people wouldnt be swooning over how awful OPs bowel habits are going to be or she'll be dead in weeks from diabetes.

(my dad can get through a box of baclava no bother)

Daisymaybe60 · 24/03/2024 10:58

I had “eat nothing but chocolate for a day” on my “60 things to do before I’m 60” list. I thought I’d love it, but I had to stop and get some proper food down me at teatime as I felt so ill.

I didn’t manage to do the London marathon or get a book published either. 😂

In rare cases you can be born with type 2. I worked with a child with type 2, unfortunately he really wouldnt comply with the medication and requirements on him and I think he was at risk of losing his foot when I last worked with him. I cant remember exactly what its called.
