Two children (2 yo and 9 months baby), DH and myself and the floor ALWAYS has crumbs and bits of dried yucky stuff on it. I hoover and mop twice a week ATM but it's a never ending battle. I'm still on mat leave and so always at home and stepping on crumbs is getting so annoying! Tell me about your kitchen floors, your top cleaning tips, or maybe just tell me to go back to work and think about something else haha.

Hoovered daily, spot cleaned as and when. Weekly mopped by cleaner.
Toddlers are messy, it will get better.

Helloandgoodmorning2 · 18/03/2024 15:34

Vaccuum and swish and swip daily. I mop at the end of the day as I am going out of the kitchen, so it is nice and clean in the morning. It only takes a few minutes as I have a spray mop.

Comedycook · 18/03/2024 15:34

Sweep most days. Only mop once a week. Not a stealth boast but it's a pretty large kitchen/diner. Mopping it is not a quick job. In my old house I had a much smaller kitchen and I mopped it every day.

readytoexplode24 · 18/03/2024 15:35

I didn't mop mine for two weeks, today was the first time. 😂

Usually 2-3 times a week though, I've been poorly.

Mrsttcno1 · 18/03/2024 15:35

I hoover & mops ours every day and then every Saturday do a hands and knees deep clean, but we do have a dog and this time of year every dog walk means muddy paw prints so we probably do it more than most

SpringSprungALeak · 18/03/2024 15:36

When there are constantly small people around 1-2 times daily, when I'm here alone it gets hoovered weekly & steam mopped when it looks dull. It doesn't actually take long & looks so much better, I need to re add it to the mental weekly list!

LauderSyme · 18/03/2024 15:37

Oh my goodness, everyone is doing a lot more floor cleaning than me. I am a sloven 😳

AffIt · 18/03/2024 15:37

Two adults, three cats, no kids.

Gets hoovered a couple of times a week and spot-cleaned with kitchen cleaner and a cloth in the event of a spill or similar, but in terms of actual mopping?

Er, probably three or four times a year. Or when it looks dirty.

TheShellBeach · 18/03/2024 15:37

DH does it.

He hoovers the whole house daily and mops the kitchen floor and the bathroom floor every other day.

Katela18 · 18/03/2024 15:39

Hoover maybe every other day? (Have a 4 and 1 year old and ligjt carpets in the lounge, it's all open plan so just do the kitchen too!

Properly mop, once I week. I have one of those spray mop things for just daily

MummySam2017 · 18/03/2024 15:42

Sometimes multiple times as day as my dining room leads on to my kitchen. So atleast after breakfast and dinner, possibly more at the weekends. Use the method floor spray at the end of each day too and hot water and dettol once a week. I too cannot stand the sight of crumbs or hearing them crush underneath my slippers, so it’s pretty relentless.

Hoppinggreen · 18/03/2024 15:44

Daily sweep with a long handled dustpan and brush to get the bits the dog wont eat and also a quick once over with a squirty mop thing to get rid of paw marks. Proper vac and mop once a week

Platedshoes · 18/03/2024 15:57

My Eufy is my hero. He goes round every couple of days. Mop, when I notice it needs it, often a month, although it was more frequent when I had young children.

fishonabicycle · 18/03/2024 15:58

Hoover a couple of times a week, mop once a week.

Nutsabouttopic · 18/03/2024 16:01

Sweep twice a day, mop every evening. Seven of us here and two dogs including one who sheds constantly. Ceramic tiles so easy to do. Once a month scrub it by hand with an old fashioned scrubbing brush.

TheShellBeach · 18/03/2024 15:37

DH does it.

He hoovers the whole house daily and mops the kitchen floor and the bathroom floor every other day.

No he doesn’t. He just tells you he does.

MummySam2017 · 18/03/2024 16:08

TitusMoan · 18/03/2024 16:03

No he doesn’t. He just tells you he does.

😂😂😂 yep, that’s what would happen if I left my DP in charge of cleaning.

ObliviousCoalmine · 18/03/2024 16:08

We are shoes off. We have a dog.

Anything the dog doesn't snaffle probably gets hoovered every few days. The cleaner hoovers and steams it once a week.

That'll do.

Causei · 18/03/2024 16:13

I hoover once a day as a job in and of itself. Followed by a steam mop most days. We have a cordless shark hoover so I often get it out when I see crumbs (10 sec job). Might get it out 2/3 x a day.

We have VERY pale limestone floors. I thought being a neat freak would be enough to keep them clean but they are far from spotless. They need a proper hands and knees job once a month. Haven’t done so recently as the last time I did I actually caused myself an injury from scrubbing so hard.

A clean kitchen is very important to me. Grew up in a messy house. Literally never had anyone over.

We have 2 large dogs and kids.

Deargodletitgo · 18/03/2024 16:17

Cleaner comes every two weeks, I sometimes sweep it if I'm having people over 🤷

Bluevelvetsofa · 18/03/2024 16:18

It’s vacuumed daily and steam cleaned once or twice a week.

Causei · 18/03/2024 16:19

I would love to obliterate the kitchen floor with bleach but worried about paws.

Desecratedcoconut · 18/03/2024 16:19

I hoover the kitchen each day, after I clean it after dinner but it doesn't take more than a few minutes.

Dweetfidilove · 18/03/2024 16:20

Sweep everyday, mop twice per week, wipe up spills as they occur (rare).

Boomer55 · 18/03/2024 16:20

Hoovered daily, and mopped 3 times a week.
