At the dinner table/in front of people.

In front of family - yes
In front of invited guests - no

Sparklesocks · 17/03/2024 18:40

I’d probably do it in front of my family at the table.
But not in front of say…King Charles.

LibbyLemoncake · 17/03/2024 18:40

First reply nails it.

In front of invited guests - no

Unless invited guests are also extended family in which case still fine.

WigglyVonWaggly · 17/03/2024 18:41

I’d use a spoon but if I wanted to get rid of unwanted guests for good then I might lick it slowly while making eye contact.

Peekaboobo · 17/03/2024 18:41

No it's revolting, not normal.

soupfiend · 17/03/2024 18:41

If yoghurt is being eaten out of a pot in front of 'guests', Im guessing this isnt some posh dinner party and therefore lid licking is perfectly normal and acceptable.

In fact I would expect it so that it makes the disposing of the pot as clean as possible.

Sneezein3 · 17/03/2024 18:42

Who eats a yogurt in front of guests?

in front of family - scrape with a spoon.

takemeawayagain · 17/03/2024 18:42

It's fine if you a school teacher in a school according to the Muller advert. If I knew someone well enough to invite them round my house, then I'd probably lick a yoghurt lid if I wanted to.

Alicewinn · 17/03/2024 18:42

No it’s grim

Yes, agree. If my mum was invited she’d tell me off for leaving good yogurt on the lid.

ditalini · 17/03/2024 18:43

I use my spoon to scrape the lid if I'm eating in front of people who might be affronted by lid licking.

Not missing out on that liddy goodness.

I wouldn't blink if King Charles licked his lid in front of me.

Octavia64 · 17/03/2024 18:43

I do it if I'm on my own.

MsAsparagus · 17/03/2024 18:45

I don’t tend to invited guests over and offer yogurts, no, but I can imagine being with guests at breakfast time where yogurt may be on offer. See also hotels.

QuitMoaning · 17/03/2024 18:45

Why is it ‘grim’ or ‘revolting’?

PostItInABook · 17/03/2024 18:45

Why is it ‘grim’?

You lick ice cream off a wooden stick. 🤷‍♀️

AllrightNowBaby · 17/03/2024 18:45

I happened to be licking a lid in the privacy of my own kitchen as son turned up for something or other and told me he couldn’t believe that he’d just seen me lick a yogurt lid.
He’s always been a bit fussy 🤣

Lots of male guests would probably interpret that as a come on.

PeloMom · 17/03/2024 18:47

I let my 5yo old do it (at home). For adults I except them to scrape it with a spoon.

SKG231 · 17/03/2024 18:48

If someone is eating dinner in my house then I’m comfortable enough with them to lick my damn yoghurt lid. Tea with the Queen is a little different.

KarmaCaramello · 17/03/2024 18:49

I don't anymore - just easier and cleaner to throw it away or scrape it with my spoon into the pot. It's one of the ways that I know I'm now a Proper Grown-Up.

BuddhaAtSea · 17/03/2024 18:50

Absolutely not! I find it really disgusting.

chicke09 · 17/03/2024 18:50

Massive ick

NahNeedsGarlic · 17/03/2024 18:51

The Muller advert qualifies for the running in ‘most annoying advert of all time’, imo. Not sure why but it irritates me.
