‘Just now Labour MPs prevented debate on a new law to protect children and single sex spaces.

Instead they used parliamentary time to discuss ferret name choices.

@Keir_Starmer is terrified of debate on safeguarding & his MPs actively work to ignore the concerns of constituents’

"the Tories are in government. They have been in government for the last 14 years. They have a majority in Parliament. If they want to change the law on single sex spaces, the Labour Party cannot stop them."
this.
It's like nobody has read anything about PMB's before and have forgotten the work of the likes of Chope, Bone & Philip Davies over the years. PMB's are particularly difficult to manage successfully given the constraints - something which I would assume Truss and Badenoch understand full well. However there are obvious avenues open to the Government to raise this issue - and for whatever reason they've chosen not to.

Can you answer the questions about Labour? Rather than turning things to the tories?

I think we all see that no. No Labour can’t answer those questions.

The Tories are in power. They have been for 14 years. Why are you turning this to Labour?

WaterWeasel · 15/03/2024 18:13

The Tories started the whole thing in the first place! Teresa May's Government proposed a bill to allow people to self identify as their chosen gender without any medical evidence or examination.

Which was thrown out - you failed to mention this for some reason.

It was still their idea - extolled by one Elizabeth Truss.

Maybe because they are quite likely to form the next govt and everyone can see how badly the Tories have fucked up this issue? The harms are writ large for all to see and Starmer STILL won't disavow genderism.

One of the replies to Badenochs slightly misleading tweet made a great point:

I wonder what she is up to now, haven't heard about her in ages, perhaps relaxing by the seaside enjoying her retirement?

No, it was amended not thrown out. You obviously haven't read my other posts on this thread which include quotes from both Penny Mordaunt ("transgender women are women") and Liz Truss, the latter being the Women and Equalities minister at the time. If you want to debate with me please offer fact based sources, which is what I have done.

I'm also now wondering why Selaine Saxby didn't pull her bill so the more important Conservative bill could be debated. The Conservatives must have known there was a risk of not enough time for Truss. Seems weird they didn't every opportunity to get the bill up the agenda.

You missed this then

The whole thing was championed by the then Women and Equalities Minister, Liz Truss, who thought it was splendid. Below I have quoted what she said at the time:

In an attempt to combat lengthy NHS waiting lists for transgender people, Truss said the government was opening three new gender clinics this year. Truss said she was “deeply concerned at the distress” the long waiting lists could cause and the move should result in them being cut by about 1,600 patients by 2022.

Mordaunt is an idiot and has always been a TWAW nutjob.

You said that Truss was pro self id - she is not and voted against it. Maybe get your facts straight.

You do realise you sound like a toddler having a tantrum? Why aren’t the Libdems, Greens, Reform doing it? Or even the party in power? Why is your footstamping reserved for Labour?

You really don’t get it. Because I’m a Labour supporter. Well I was. I do not understand why they can’t support biological women (and children).

Although having done a bit of digging today, on the questions of others, I’ve found some interesting information about possible Labour donors and motivations.

Your quote is nothing to do with self id. Again - she has never been pro self id.

Liz Truss hit back at Labour's calls for a new system allowing trans people to self-identify.

I amazed that Truss' bill even got close to being debated, given she was quite low down on the list of Private Members Bill's many of which don't get debated in every parliamentary session.

Perhaps those who are so exercised by it should write to their MPs suggesting changes to the parliamentary standing orders to ensure more Private Members bills get time to be debated.

She was third. It’s reasonable to think they could manage their expensive time to cover 3 PMBs. Instead one took up 4/5 of the time. Because they made it do so.

I think a lot of posters here don't really understand what a PMB is and how the process works.

😂😂 that’s ironic. I thought that about you after I read your previous comment.
