VestibuleVirgin · 12/03/2024 07:15

Frank Hestor reportedly said: “It’s like trying not to be racist but you see Diane Abbott on the TV, and you’re just like… you just want to hate all black women because she’s there.
“And I don’t hate all black women at all, but I think she should be shot.
“(The executive) and Diane Abbott need to be shot.”

Abominable, disgusting. Aibu to be incecsed by this?
Money allows all sorts of behaviours apparently, particularly if you give a lot of it to a political party.

Tory donor Frank Hester apologises over 'reprehensible' comments about Diane Abbott

Frank Hester has admitted making ‘rude’ comments about the politician but said they had ‘nothing to do with her gender nor colour of skin’

He wants a peerage, doesn’t he? Bloody good luck with that, mate, they’ll have to be quick. Although I suppose there’s always Sunak’s honours list post election.

The Conservatives & Hester seem to be enjoying some sort of cash back scheme.

Maybe he has a loyalty card.
I assume Hester is a party member.

Shock I hadn't thought about it like that, but yes, cash back could be exactly what has happened.

These contracts need to be added to the list with the Mone contracts, for investigation about how they came to be awarded.

Might all have been entirely above board, of course. But does need looking into.

Reugny · 15/03/2024 12:42

@Clavinova unlike you, myself and other posters who are members of the global majority understand my comment about Rishi Sunak. The fact you pointed out he was head boy at his elite British public school actually makes it worse, but from your position you clearly don't understand why.

And it's funny that I have to point this out on you on a thread that is about racism of a white man to black women, one of whom is in the public eye. This white man also makes racist remarks to people he employs who who are Asian nations or of Asian descent.

The UK dealt with corruption by legalising it

@Reugny Random, but this is the first time I’ve heard that. Global majority, I love it!

Dale didn't benefit from over £400m worth of public sector contracts (since1998)

How much has Dale cost the taxpayer by funding Just Stop Oil and their protests? Millions? Tens of Millions?

Yet again irrelevant, protest is legal and part of our democratic process or do you want them banned too?

Hester obtained 400m in contracts, made 10s of millions of profit, then as a "Thank You" gives millions to the govt that awarded those contracts.

Thats pretty much how Putin got into power.

BIossomtoes · 15/03/2024 14:14

It would be nice if he had recycled it back to the government. Unfortunately he’s given it to the Tory party. It’s worth making the distinction.

Angela Eagle: Would you return the £10 million Frank Hester donated to your party, given he was racist to Diane Abbott and called for her to be shot?

Jeremy Hunt: No.

Angela Eagle: Why?

Jeremy Hunt: That would be cancelling him.

I think I do understand what you meant - Shaun Bailey and others have complained about similar labels directed at them.

That's funny because these two Just Stop Oil protesters have spent over a year in prison - one of them is facing deportation (he's German);

Which one?

Outside of the UK, we have deployments in China, the Middle East, and the Caribbean.

The one he took it from - the clue’s in recycled.

Do you think the party should hand back Hester's donation?

Do you think they should accept further donations from Hester?

A bit like that well known dictator Tony Blair you mean?

You’ve been called out on this tactic so many times I’m astonished you persist with it. Blair was no more a dictator than any other PM - both his majorities were bigger than any PM since.

Kendodd · 15/03/2024 19:42

Well at least the thread has moved on from slagging Diane Abbott off. So that's a bit of good news. Smile

As well as the question if they should accept further donations

I can't be bothered to look back through the thread either. I'm guessing your answer would be 'no, they should give the money back' just as the Tory party says, followed by some irrelevant C&P nonsense to try to discredit Labour.
Am I right?
