I suppose the worry is that if some fairly innocent things have been manipulated, has anything else been changed. News agencies have to be very careful now with fakes, what with AI and all that.

It's huge news that people airbrush their SM/publicity snaps? Really? I'm trying to get worked up but it's hard.

The idea that that photo is supposed to be photojournalism is ludicrous.

Is it massive news because if it were true that this pic is faked, then PK must be very unwell and isn't it that very sad for the family?

Or is it massive because if the pic is legit but then got manipulated, isn't that unfortunate that they struggled to get a nice pic of everyone happy & tidy, but media demand to see them has happy & tidy is so high they're under a lot of pressure to produce great pics?

Stop the press, a woman you don't know and who doesn't know you even exist may or may not be ill.

I think it's more that the conspiracy industrial complex is profitable and so the mainstream media and the agencies are getting sucked in.

This could end up a very interesting story, but from a media policy angle, not because we eventually find out Will has buried Kate under patio. We won't.

Specifically on this though, I’m rubbish at spotting photoshop but whatever the reason this is a terrible misstep from the palace and will only add to many conspiracy theories in light of the many that are already doing the rounds.

you can clearly see C has too on the hand underneath (look at the original, sharper photos). And it is less clear on the G but it looks as though he has too.

It was on the official twitter feed for Kensington Palace so unlikely to be a freelancer using AI. The same twitter feed was also wishing Edward a happy birthday.

I understand medical info is private, but instead of all this palaver they just need to release a statement saying yes we photoshopped the image as Catherine is still recovering and looks like shit atm, wait until Easter you nosy beggars.

In my family we haven't discussed Kate Middleton at all. We just know she's a waste of money, a human without a genuine purpose in life. Of course we don't wish her pain or suffering, and I'm sure if we considered it, we'd wish her a speedy recovery. We don't spend hours discussing Gaza and Ukraine either, but it's obvious to us what's important, and what is trivial.
