Posters you still think about

Proof I probably spend too much time on here but does anyone else have posters they still think about every now and again?

Mine is the Australian poster whose son was in the abusive relationship and her many threads about helping him get out of the relationship and realizing she was toxic.

Can’t find the threads at all now but I hope her and her son are still doing well!

Does anyone else have stand out posters or threads that stick in their minds?

@Alaina7 Pamela was very real (wilsonmilson) a nurse here confirmed and also many of us saw her obit. She was real. And strong and beautiful. I will remember her strength and courage

The foster mum who looked after babies born addicted to heroin. She'a passed away now. Always remember the love and care she gave those tiny babies, and how she had to be so careful to give them just the right amount of morphine, even a tiny bit more and they would be in danger, but not quite enough and they would suffer. What a brave, brave, loving woman she was.

When I look around at the news and feel a bit bleak, I always remind myself that despite everything there are so many fantastic human beings doing amazing unsung acts of heroism every day of the year. Wherever you are, I salute you.

Wouldyouguess · 10/03/2024 17:04

Also- the posted from Australia or NZ who was jogging and passed a creepy looking house with some sort of message son it, and then the house was not visible on googlemaps and people were wondering if there had not been a murder commited or something along the lines and it was taken off grid?

Alltheyearround · 10/03/2024 17:04

Think some of her threads are in classics.

I was thinking of the lady called Pamela the other day who posted throughout her illness and up to her death. And of her husband and son.

This is the one that I think of occasionally. Such an incredibly sad story - diagnosed one month and then gone in a matter of weeks. It really hit home as she was only around the same age as myself and her son a similar age to mine.

spiderlight · 10/03/2024 17:08

CatThiefKeith 😢 She made me laugh so many times. I hope her daughter is doing ok.

Whylurkwhenicanjoinin · 10/03/2024 17:09

Back in covid times there was a poster whose DH became ill with it and was admitted to hospital, it was a traumatic terrifying time and at the time i had my own mini drama so didnt come on here for a while, id love to hear that he became well again and is now back home…im thinking the poster was Wardrobes or something similar?

OlympicProcrastinator · 10/03/2024 17:11

Yeah. Expat from Scotland because she was a knob.

The son in an abusive relationship poster is PurpleLampShades.
Not the Australian one that ended happily.
This one is still ongoing sadly

I think about both the Australian abuse thread and look out for updates from PurpleLampShades as her situation with her abused son is horrendous. I feel so awful for what she's going through, and for her son who's such a victim. It's a real eye opener regarding abuse towards men - I've got a son and it's made me talk to him about it.

SIacker · 10/03/2024 17:18

One that stands out for me is the woman who had just given birth to a premature baby who was in neonatal care, and she was considering leaving them to go on a skiing holiday (I think it was skiing, some sort of sport anyway). And was somewhat surprised when everyone said "no you can't leave your baby".

Munchyseeds2 · 10/03/2024 17:25

Alaina7 · 10/03/2024 14:57

Pamela and Kier and whether that was ever real.

It was real 😥

Guineapig123 · 10/03/2024 17:29

I often think about the lady stuck in NZ and wonder if she made it home.
And also Pamela, so tragic…

Mrgrinlingscat · 10/03/2024 17:29

when I first joined (2008)there was a poster that had a cryptic pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby after going to a student party. Think she was stealthpolarbear or something similar. She was very active online and showed photos of her with no visible bump etc. After a few years I think she was outed and her story was questioned. She stopped posting & I wonder if she came back under another name

MsPavlichenko · 10/03/2024 17:33

The Australian poster with the son in an abusive relationship did an update within the last year or two (?). The relationship had ended and her son was doing well.

Trickytreelou, the poster whose DH took the chutney got on with it and she and her DS are doing well. She still posts now and then .

Mummyratbag · 10/03/2024 17:37

Scottishmummy
La Queen
Bonsoir

Was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention scottishmummy.

Sauvblanctime · 10/03/2024 17:45

Crow attack lady, purple lampshades (son in abusive relationship) & most recently the lady who posted about her husband tracking her with air tag

allaloneandlost · 10/03/2024 17:46

Zukiecat.

That was comedy gold and the sheep at the village gathering with Christmas lights on them.

I remember the thread about the lad in Australia with the toxic girlfriend, I wonder how that worked out?

Trexing in the supermarket had me howling and there was a couple of similar threads to that one but I can’t remember the posters name, I think it was maybe Sharon?

I loved reading Somervilles threads

I came on to say this re Crumbs 😆

So obviously made up. Quite a fantasy life she had going on, and so funny that she thought people would believe any of it!

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/03/2024 17:48

The one with Lobster Boy.
The one where the OP was cleaning a hoarder friend's house and any loose change she found went into her gin fund.

TheGander · 10/03/2024 17:48

10 years ago I had to take control of all of my father’s life through power of attorney due to his dementia. The Elderly Parents board saved my sanity. Need moresleep, wykenblinknod, the sandwich and others were a mine of support and information.

TheMessiahIsMySister · 10/03/2024 17:49

LaQueen was originally LeQueen, wasn’t she?

NotReadyForSlipperz · 10/03/2024 17:50

Same as some of you, I often think about the lady with the horrendous husband. Among the many stories was how he used to stink out the bathroom if she wanted to treat herself to a bath and wash her hair. She nearly got away a couple of times. If she's reading, don't feel bad if you haven't left yet. We are still here, no judgement just urging you on
