Posters you still think about

Proof I probably spend too much time on here but does anyone else have posters they still think about every now and again?

Mine is the Australian poster whose son was in the abusive relationship and her many threads about helping him get out of the relationship and realizing she was toxic.

Can’t find the threads at all now but I hope her and her son are still doing well!

Does anyone else have stand out posters or threads that stick in their minds?

Crumbs could be an arse at times I seem to remember but most of the time it was a hoot reading her latest Jilly-Cooper stylie posts.

It was a lovely made up life with an enormous house in the perfect village, talented gorgeous DC invited to private festivals and islands by their pals from school, having Tony Blair round for 'sups' parties with lashings of Cumberland sauce and 14 types of glassware.

I HAD to dig out a post for those unfamiliar with her 😆

"Unashamedly a Christmas snob. It’s such a beautiful celebration I like it done ‘properly’. Christmas not Xmas Father Christmas not Santa Real tree and lots of greenery throughout house. Fresh flowers. Nothing inflatable. Stockings hung by fireplace not pillowcases. Presents under the tree for opening after lunch. Advent Calendar is an heirloom with little presents in each box. We have homemade fresh wreaths and Advent candle ring. Our nativity set takes centre stage.

Christmas Eve is a village event so bizarre nativity from pub to church. Then supper with whoever picks names out ( might be friends might be strangers - everyone goes to one of about 10 houses and eats the same things). Finishes with Hark the Herald in village square at 1130pm ready for Midnight Mass. Children bring presents rather than receive them.

Boxing Day we do drinks"

Those posts used to make me laugh, I’m off to re-read them all. I’m sure there was something they posted about some type of pantry too.

Sidebeforeself · 10/03/2024 15:17

I’m always quite disappointed on these threads that nobody ever mentions me ( under my previous usernames obviously!)

Neverpostagain · 10/03/2024 15:18

Mary (can't remember the rest of her name) Irish with adopted children

TiredCatLady · 10/03/2024 15:20

A very unwell poster who disappeared around the time something horrible involving someone with a similar profile appeared in the news. I can’t shake the feeling that it was that person.

Whatwouldnanado · 10/03/2024 15:20

The lady setting off across London with her possessions on a bike to get away from abusive partner
The lady, possibly widowed and hadn’t dated for ages we egged on to ask her plumber/neighbour out. It seemed to ho well. Hope they’re still happy.

Are you sure you don’t mean her vestibule cupboard? 🤣

I wish I had a made up summer sitting room AND winter sitting room in my made up house.

Pamela and Kier and whether that was ever real.

I think it was real.

Rowgtfc72 · 10/03/2024 15:23

Cupoftea and her lovely daughter Beatrice who sadly died.

The lady who's daughter allidha died of leukemia. Her daughters favourite song was Call me maybe. I can't hear that song without thinking about that dark haired 9 yr old little girl.

I hope both ladies are having a gentle day today.

Somerville: who was widowed then met a lovely new man and fell in love and married.
She was the most beautiful writer and it was a beautiful story.

LaQueen: because the boasting used to make me cringe so hard.

A very old and personal one: Quootiepie. She was very young and sweet with a shitty husband.

LaQueen is still here. Still posting on S&B fairly frequently. Still the same old boasting.

Noshowlomo · 10/03/2024 15:25

@Sleeptastic I often think of the ginny situation as well

Hohofortherobbers · 10/03/2024 15:26

Yes what happened to @anyfucker

weegiemum · 10/03/2024 15:27

@Rowgtfc72 expatinscotland had the daughter who died of leukaemia 12 years ago now.

I meet up with her for lunch a couple of times a year. She and her family are well, though Aillidh will always be a gap in their lives.

Dittany. A poster on the Feminist boards. I learnt a lot from her.

Dittany was my first thought! She was incredible

Ailidh would have been 21 this year now. I remember reading of her death on the way back from a holiday so I can always remember exactly when it was.

Expatinscotland was her mums mn name. There was a friend used to post a lot too her user name was something to do with giraffes.

it felt as if the whole of mn pulled together when she was ill. I think it’s too big for that to happen any more.

Yes I remember this thread about the son. Now that you've said it I wonder if he ever broke up with the girlfriend.

If it's the one I remember, she did update the thread
Son broke up with his girlfriend
The dog was picked up by a rescue
I dint think the girlfriend ever came back

Mummyratbag · 10/03/2024 15:34

There was an amazing story about a woman who had feelings for a long term friend, he invited her to go to a wedding with him as friends and she was hoping for more. He had hinted he liked her. They went to the wedding and another guest asked him to dance, she had more or less given up all hope and went to her room. He came up to her room and declared his feelings for her. It was so lovely - so many people were invested in the outcome! She was updating during the night from the bathroom.

Also the woman who advertised her summer house for sale. A guy came to dismantle it and brought his mother with him and she sat in a deck chair watching him. She even brought her own sandwiches. I think she was Asian (and didn't speak English so the OP couldn't talk to her) .. It was so random, funny and adorable.

Someone beat me to it, but the 16 year old boy in the controlling relationship got out and she moved on to another boy. He was rebuilding his social life and doing well.

Noshowlomo · 10/03/2024 15:34

There was a woman who had two older sons with an absolute cnut of a man, and she had met someone new and lovely and was pregnant by him but was suicidal and regretful as her ex was still a bastard and was turning her sons against her and she was so low and really unhappy. I think about her sometimes as I think her baby would be about 2 now

BeGentleCrab · 10/03/2024 14:09

The poster who was clearly very, very mentally unwell with extreme health anxiety.

It was always about her DC, that she'd taken them on a playdate or something and later found out there were cases of chicken pox at the school the playdate went to so now her DC was going to die and she was picking out what clothes she wanted them to be buried in.

She'd name change all the time but was so recognisable and her threads often got heated because people became so frustrated with her.

Do you have a link to that thread please? Xx

There were many of them but she NC all the time so I couldn't track one down sorry.

itsgoingtobeabumpyride · 10/03/2024 15:38

Bluntness, I always wonder what happened to her, I could recognise her responses without reading the user name, kinda spiteful and mean.
@PigletJohn not seen him around for a while, you could summon him for help with DIY / issues with your house.
He was like Batman, summon him and he appeared to solve your problems then disappeared again!

DrJoanAllenby · 10/03/2024 15:38

I might be wrong but I'm sure I read about CattiefKeiths husband remarrying? I hope the stepmother is a good one to CTK's daughter as she was only around 9 I think when she died.

I hope the husband and daughter have gone on to have happy lives as it was quite sudden. One minute she was posting about ear ache and must make an appointment to see her GP and then a couple of days later she died in hospital of meningitis. Very sad.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 10/03/2024 15:39

@FuzzyPuffling I still think about her too and her lacies!

TequilaNights · 10/03/2024 15:40

The lady who's husband had cheated with the lady at work/friend before they got married, it had ended but it all came out and her partner and friends had known for years but he had kept it secret, the daughter adored the ow.
Last update she was trying to make a go of it again, I think.

So much raw emotion you could feel in every post, I often wonder how her life is now.

LindorDoubleChoc · 10/03/2024 15:43

I think of BitofFun very often and hope her husband and daughters are somehow getting on ok.

Purpledragonz · 10/03/2024 15:43

The lady that posted about her daughter Claire being very ill and then eventually passing.
Many people thought it was a troll, and a poster that supposedly worked as a nurse at the hospital Claire was admitted to, came to say there was no patient under that name in that hospital.
