Maybe I'm overacting but I don't think I am. The other day I was at a cafe with my friend (31F) and I was pouting my lips when she looked at me and said 'that reminds me' and started applying chapstick. I was a bit confused by this but then I realised what she meant and I was very angry. But then yesterday we went out again and I can't remember the conversation but I stuck my teeth out in a funny way and she looked me up and down and said in a smug voice 'I need to book my dentist appointment' and she set a reminder in her calendar. Am I overreacting or is this not on? And how do I approach it without sounding paranoid?

Yeah I'd be annoyed if my friend's joking was pouting their lips and pulling weird faces. I prefer a joke on a more intellectual level.

And this is exactly the reason I avoid women with the turkey teeth and lip fillers. They always seem to think they are better looking then everyone else, and should be showered with compliments...

Sorry I'm not intellectual enough for you, next time I'll joke about Aristotle or Socrates 😒And great way to stereotype people.. you sound like a lovely person!

Maybe stop acting like a fanny and she won’t make
comments on body parts 🤷‍♀️

Shocked at using the word f*nny with appropriate asterisk 😮

WitsEnd10 · 03/03/2024 17:05

You sounds absolutely batshit. Tell her to fuck off, she’ll probably be relieved.

My husband farted in the supermarket the other day. I said that we needed beans, he didn't take offence.

😂😂

puzzledout · 03/03/2024 17:07

@SheepAndSword please say that it was a joke you saying l*sbians walk around us? It surely cannot be true?

😮

ZZGirl · 03/03/2024 17:07

You're overreacting big time. You made a motion with your face, it reminded her, that's it. She's not criticising. I think if you tell her to F off, you'll be down one friend.

Iwantanapnow · 03/03/2024 17:08

This thread is hilarious. Thank goodness my friends don’t gurn and pout!

SmileyClare · 03/03/2024 17:12

Actually that reminds me.. I’m baby sitting tonight.

Emotionalsupportviper · 03/03/2024 17:12

"Pushed your teeth out"?

Do you wear dentures?

JaneAustensHeroine · 03/03/2024 17:13

OP, you sound preoccupied with your appearance and therefore what other people say and do must be about you. Vanity is not attractive but worse still, you are needing validation from others to make yourself feel good. That is never going to end well.

Well you must be utterly horrified at the comment below then.

Well it could've been a positive thing like it reminded her she needs lip filler or something nice about my own lips rather than applying chapstick which is obviously implying my lips are dry. It is all negative with her.

Why would you need to remind someone to get filler in their lips?

It all sounds very negative with you too. Quite bizarre too.

zunchie · 03/03/2024 17:18

Omg! Everyone here must sit in complete silence in a cafe and not have any facial expressions at all.

Wow, how did you know the post after yours would be shocking? 😮

Do you make silly noises too?

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 03/03/2024 17:21

I was so absorbed by this thread that I sat and ate an entire tr*fle. Now off to sue Mumsnet for the additional pounds round my arse.

What?

Compared to this thread, that's actually quite sensible.

zunchie · 03/03/2024 14:07

How insulting. So because I'm in my 30s I have to be serious all the time and I can't make jokes or pull faces at all.

No. It's because you're overthinking something fairly trivial

IncompleteSenten · 03/03/2024 17:21

Not at all.
Just stick to normal ones.
No duck pout or horse teeth required

MrsDoubtfire24 · 03/03/2024 17:22

Are you related to Lee Evans?

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 03/03/2024 17:22

Er…👹👄💋😬

Crinkle77 · 03/03/2024 17:23

@zunchie i don't know why everyone is being so horrible to you but I get what you're saying. Your friend is perhaps making very subtle digs. You know her and can probably pick up on the vibe.
