Should she have waited to see I got home safe?

I went out on a date last night, it went extremely well, and I got the last train home. There were lots of stops and issues and delays, and I only got home 3 hours after I left my date.

She asked me to let her know I got home safely. I texted to say I got home but received no response.

Finally got a reply in the morning, she said she was waiting but kept falling asleep but didn’t allow herself to sleep until she saw my message.

She responded this morning with a “like heart” on my message from last night.

I had travelled a long distance to see her, and paid for our date because I wanted to and was happy to do so.

Now I’m feeling a little bit off about it all. Am I being unreasonable to not take her seriously in future?

We are both women, by the way.

Serously? When it's children we stay awake. Adults are supposed to be more responsible. Did you text her to let her know of any of the delays? Because you really could have. And told her to go to bed. But no, you're a drama queen. Why didn't you update her on your issues???

Last time I let anyone know I was home ok was 25 years ago when I used to give my Grandma 3 rings when I got home from hers

This seems very intense for a first date

I ask my son to text when he is home safe. Many times I look at the message and fall fully asleep without answering. But if he doesn't message I am not able to sleep properly.
But to expect this level of concern from a first date is a bit much

You sound like a pain in the arse tbh

Lollipop81 · 04/03/2024 17:53

Are you for real?

SnappyDragony · 04/03/2024 18:57

I think a bit of both. You were quite rightly awake because you were doing the actual travelling. Your date probably relaxed, the adrenaline dissipated and she found it hard to stay awake.
You're a tad unreasonable to make a post about this, this being a bit of a non issue as the poor love saw you were home after 3 hours and nodded off. She did however reply.
You are a bit reasonable in maybe investing a bit much after an exciting 1st date.
But hey! She replied and I'm assuming a 2nd date will be planned. So unclench a bit and have some fun
