Absolutely cannot stand cuddling in bed - anyone else?

Lighthearted

I hate cuddling up to my husband in bed, I just want to turn over not facing him and sleep. I don’t want to be touched whilst I’m sleeping. I can’t even stand his knee or toe touching me.

I’m affectionate all the time but when I’m trying to sleep I hate it.

Anyone else like this?

Friends think I’m funny for not liking being cuddled to sleep. 🤣

Yep. Can't stand it. I don't even like if his foot rubs off mine. I love him and will cuddle him on the couch. We have a good sex life but the idea of falling asleep cuddling makes me itch. I like my space. I would probably have separate beds happily but he likes the company in bed so that's the compromise

Anotherparkingthread · 01/03/2024 15:48

Ha! total opposite, we go to sleep all piled on top of eachother like cats. If I put my head on his chest at any time of day I fall asleep.

Iam4eels · 01/03/2024 15:59

Same.

I like him in the bed but not in my space. Part of our reasoning for having a super king-size bed is that I have my sleep space and he has his sleep space. We cuddle up while chatting or for comfort but once I'm ready to sleep I have to not be touched.

Diamondcurtains · 01/03/2024 16:01

Hate it. We don’t share a bed anymore 😂. I love a cuddle any other time though.

KreedKafer · 01/03/2024 16:15

I've had this conversation with more than one group of friends and the general consensus has always pretty much been that while most people enjoy a quick cuddle before they go to sleep, almost everybody would then prefer to say goodnight and move into their own space.

It's hard to find a position that provides enough comfort for both people to fall asleep cuddling - most people are, in reality, really quite particular about the exact position in which they fall asleep and it's pretty unlikely that a cuddling position will work for both of a couple. And almost everyone moves around quite a bit in their sleep - most people change position, roll over, adjust the bedclothes or even flip their pillow without even waking. Even if they can fall asleep cuddling, they're only going to disturb each other shortly afterwards when they start unconsciously fidgeting around.

Yes, that's exactly it - I wouldn't want us to sleep in separate beds and I find his presence in the bed really comforting, but we definitely like to have our own little space in the bed for sleeping in!

sleepwellifyoucan · 01/03/2024 16:22

Same, can't even stand anyone in the bed now I've been single for a few years.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 01/03/2024 16:25

Same. He would like to go to sleep cuddled up, but I just can't!

Redglitter · 01/03/2024 16:26

I love cuddles when I'm awake, either after sex or before sleeping but when I'm trying to sleep leave me the hell alone.

user1471517095 · 01/03/2024 16:27

Me, I'm always too warm so sleep with the window open. I do not want another hot body touching mine. And I don't much like him breathing on me either!

This is us too, often with an added cat!

thecatsthecats · 01/03/2024 16:47

My husband came to bed after me last night and grabbed me for cuddle.

Fuck off! I have to wake up for the baby in the night, who the hell wakes a sleeping mum?

autumn1610 · 01/03/2024 16:48

with my ex I had to touch him but couldn’t face each other to sleep so would have a finger touching his back or something. Had a fwb recently and Jesus I don’t think he let go of me at all in the night proper struggled getting back to sleep, I could move and he was back on me. It was nice in a way but long term I couldn’t deal with it

KimberleyClark · 01/03/2024 17:06

Love it. Go to sleep holding hands, well I do anyway.

TheLittleRedDragon · 01/03/2024 17:20

No, I love a bedtime cuddle! One of the high points of life tbh.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 01/03/2024 17:38

We go to sleep on our sides with me cuddling up to the back of him with my arm around his waist. At some point I'll wake up with him cuddling me and we always wake up on our own side of the bed but I love the cuddling

lambhotpot · 01/03/2024 17:39

Im single and its staying that way my bed is mine.
Huge 4 poster king size bed with white net curtains drapes all for me fresh clean sheets plump pillows.
Heaven.

My husband would definitely like to be cuddled all night - I don’t think I’d ever sleep haha

I hate because my husband always tries to have sex with me

Sweetlily99 · 01/03/2024 20:32

I don't like it either just want my own space when i sleep. we have a huge bed!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/03/2024 20:33

My DH actually spent our first few weeks together sleeping in a single bed. We slept cuddled up all night. Now, a cuddle is nice occasionally but not whilst I’m trying to sleep! Get off me! DH whinges my hair gets in his face and soon loses interest in the cuddle too so that’s fine.

I currently use a pregnancy pillow and I love it because it means no one is touching me. 😂

43ontherocksporfavor · 01/03/2024 20:36

We are both the same. Been very happily married for nearly 28 years and from the beginning we will cuddle up when we first get in bed to warm up ( both like a cool bedroom) but after about 5 minutes we both pull away and face away from each other. We are lucky the feeling is mutual.

BadgeronaMoped · 01/03/2024 20:39

I try to tolerate it till DH falls asleep, then I escape Grin

pensione · 01/03/2024 20:39

I love to be cuddled to sleep, DH doesn’t like it much. It gets a bit lonely.
