More specifically targeting the problem vehicles rather than cause issues for everyone even those who are trying to be environmentally friendly.

Personally I think SUVs should be taxed off the roads. There could be a tax exemption like for red diesel for people who can demonstrate a need for them.

Only SUVs can be said to be responsible for being the second largest cause of CO2 emissions over the last decade. Most other things in modern society aren't more likely to be involved in a deadly accident. Most other things don't make you more of a reckless driver.

The letter is really very SUV-specific. Take some responsibility for your choice.

It's been on local radio that they're doing the rounds here too. It's just mindless vandalism IMO. I drive a small SUV, it has lower emissions and better fuel consumption than the old hatchback I traded in for it!

I definitely think higher parking charges for wankpanzers in cities are the way to go. Paris has just introduced this, and I wouldn't be surprised if other cities follow suit.

But ultimately, I think legislation has got to target the car manufacturers- it's them that have thrown millions into aggressive marketing campaigns to convince the gullible that these obscene tanks are attractive, safe and desirable. And they've done it simply because their profit margins on big cars are much greater than on small ones.

I've already commented saying I empathise with the fact you're the victim of a crime. Your general attitude is not something I empathise with, though.

I don't approve of these activists' behaviour, but I guarantee you they're not doing it because they're "jealous". I loathe people who drive SUVs in the city with no good reason, but I'm completely relaxed about people who drive far more expensive Lexus, Tesla, Mercedes saloons, etc etc.

SUVs make the road experience more dangerous and generally shit for all other road users, and the sooner they get an additional road/congestion/parking tax in London the better.

Criminal damage is NOT acceptable is any circumstances.

The idiots who go round slashing tyres, therefore causing a new tyre to be used that wouldn't have had to be if they hadn't gone round vandalising is just absurd. That slashed up tyre then gets scrapped. What a waste.

The eco freaks just don't seem to have a brain cell between them.

Hopefully people siding with these morons don't travel abroad, drive, use fuel to heat their homes, eat food that's been shipped from overseas, buy clothes that have been shipped from abroad......

That's not true, at least about the group that did the OP. There's a free guide to deflating tyres on their website. OP's tyres weren't slashed, and no one else on the thread has said their tyres have been slashed. So far it all appears to be made up by the biggest detractors

No jealousy, SUVs are a huge problem in many areas

CagneyandLazey have you got any evidence of Tyre Extinguishers, the people that deflate tyres and leave the notes, slashing tyres? Because, as far as I know, their entire MO is to deflate.

It could be that others are slashing or drilling SUV tyres (I mean they're hardly popular, are they?!), and Tyre Extinguishers are being blamed for this.

I wonder if part of the popularity of SUVs is that they can usually take 3 child seats at the back?
