Which white wine to drink?

I feel a bit ‘over’ Sauvignon blanc with its strong acidic taste, with that having been my white wine of choice for about a decade.
what’s next? What’s en vogue at the moment? I like dry, maybe a bit more mellow than Sauvignon blanc.
any favourites you’d recommend?
most commonly I buy at Lidl and normally go for £7-8 a bottle, but can buy elsewhere.
im the only adult in the house and normally have one bottle a week spread over the weekend.
I need a new favourite!

SB too acidic for me too!

White burgundy is lovely and less sharp than a lot of SBs.

I've got back to unoaked Chardonnay (very Bridget Jones). Has to be cold and I usually go up a shelf in price from SB. Not sure I could recommend a specific one, though Cloudy Bay is always good.

A Gavi is nice and you get a decent one for under £10. My favourite is Sancerre but it’s pricey so a rare treat.

Try viognier!

Recommend Albariño or picpoul de pinet

I asked this exact question a while ago and someone suggested a Picpoul (de pinet) and I got one in Aldi and was delicious (it’s not there at the moment but other supermarkets do have it).

Pouilly Fuisse or Pouilly Fume, both very very dry.

Im enjoying the arrogant frog Viognier at the moment (£9 in Sainsbury’s)

Gavi or Vernaccia - both lovely

I've had a nice Gavi from Lidl for less than £8.

I really dislike sauvignon blanc - gripey.

I like: chenin blanc, unoaked Chardonnay, viognier, white burgundy, white rioja

It is a Chardonnay but pumped full of sugar to give it body and balance.

It is succulent but it is not really a good wine. That residual sugar means it doesn’t have to be as well made.

Another vote for Arrogant Frog Viognier well chilled.

Gavi di Gavi or Falanghina are my next favourites after Sauvignon Blanc

Chablis is chardonnay, just named after the region it's made in rather than the grape variety.

Aldi Limestone Coast Chardonnay - it keeps slightly changing the name and branding but it’s an Australian Chardonnay. At the moment branded Koolaburu or something. About £6.99 these days. The best wine ever.

Dry Riesling, Chablis, maybe look at English wines if you're feeling flush (similar climate).

Ooh, this is the very post for me! I used to work in the wine trade (IWST Advanced Diploma holder right here) and am a big white wine drinker.

I will drink Picpoul until it's coming down my nose, but I appreciate that some find it a little bland.

Spanish whites are brilliant (Albariño, white Rioja etc) but there are also a lot of terrific Portuguese whites, including Vinho Verdes, which have a lovely light appley flavour and are often lower in alcohol, making them easy 'drinking' wines.

I am a HUGE white Burgundy fan, although a lot of people have been put off Chardonnay by the sort of cheap, heavily-oaked stuff that flooded the UK in the early 2000s. I used to absolutely delight in convincing the ABCs (Anything But Chardonnay) that they did actually like Chardonnay, they just hadn't met the right one yet.

I haven't even started on Austria or Germany yet...

Aldi and Lidl have absolutely splendid European wine lists and they are incredibly affordable: my go-to supermarkets for wine!
