I’ve inherited a very good knife and a little bit of money and I’ve used the knife today and it’s so sharp it’s life changing. It’s been a joy to chop everything and it’s made me wonder what I’m missing out on. What’s the thing you have that’s expensive but worth every penny?

Boiling water tap
👌🏼
worth every penny

Do bought me a pair of le chameau wellies and they’ve changed my life. I walk the dog everyday in a really wet, muddy field and they’re totally waterproof, warm and comfortable. I’ve heard they last a long time too so I think cost per wear possibly better than cheaper ones

Yes to Le Chameau wellies - I have the wool lined ones and they are a game changer.

Bose noise cancelling headphones - I use them every single day, I’d hate to be without them now.

ShyTed · 25/02/2024 01:54

Also - air fryer i am quite drunk right now and just made myself t sausages and chips 👌🏼

blueshoes · 25/02/2024 02:06

Semi-permanent makeup - saves me so much time getting ready. In fact I am always make-up ready.

MariaVT65 · 25/02/2024 02:27

PARKING! (Fuck the bus)

Nursery

Air con unit

Any private healthcare needed for my kids eg private physio for my 1 year old

My DH would say plame seats with more leg room (he’s tall) and turfing the garden.

MariaVT65 · 25/02/2024 02:29

Hmm. Thinking in 7 months when I can get rid of my sterilising tank and prep machine, may be time to get an air fryer!

FabFebHalfTerm · 25/02/2024 03:24

@Whatistherightanswer

obviously sad to hear that you're in the position of getting an inheritance.

this is only a very cheap thing, but it's been a game changer. I got mine off Amazon, but you can get them in other places, it's called 'Any Sharpe' & it sharpens knives brilliantly.

@fabio12 what make is it? A Ford?

Maybe this thread is a bit beyond most people's expectations!!

@strugglingnd

Really? There's tons of cheap stuff on it.

besides, people don't have to open it!!

ChocolateCinderToffee · 25/02/2024 03:56

Robovac, wool duvet, dishwasher

MelCakey · 25/02/2024 04:42

Yes same here! Electric veg chopper sounds like a life changing item and I want one asap!!! Wow - truly, the things I could do with those saved hours!!

Newchapterbeckons · 25/02/2024 04:44

Taking the time in the autumn and spring to plan and buy 8/9 outfits from top to toe. Including bags and accessories to ‘match’
Game changer for me, I always look effortlessly stylish, dressed comfortably and spend no time at all thinking about what I will wear. Leisure and work wear.

MixedCouple · 25/02/2024 04:46

Juicer
Dyson hand held vacuum
I second the decent knives
Proper rain coat
Proper boots for walking

Ooh this is a good one!

Maybe not to buy everything - but to plan out the outfits in a group for each season

I'm now off to muse.....

recklessgran · 25/02/2024 05:47

Scoville oven trays and pans.
Indestructible and never stick - wish I'd found them years ago.
Fleecy dog coat with legs - game changer especially with all the rain we've been having lately as no more muddy dog in the house.
Ditto magic mats and runners at all outside doors for the same reason.

readingismycardio · 25/02/2024 06:15

Dyson v15
Kitchen aid mini chopper - anything from purees, to chopping veg, to sauces, to spreads
Cosori airfryer
Regulat mani appointments
Good pillows
Iphone & mac & apple watch
No polyester clothing (as much as possible)

I still have to replace my knives and cutlery, though!

BeanyBops · 24/02/2024 18:32

Didriksons winter coat. Has revolutionised my winter experience - I'm very rarely not warm, dry and protected from the wind! Such a game changer!

Oo which one did you get? I've been circling the Alicia long parka but still undecided....

Tatonka · 25/02/2024 06:40

A cleaner

Perfectlystill · 25/02/2024 06:42

ReadingSoManyThreads
Had to google what a trivet was but yes it looks like that’s it- is a big thick ceramic one and the second the pot comes off the cooker I can put it on it!

ihatethecold · 25/02/2024 06:55

Ninja frying pans, best pans I’ve had
Hypnos super king mattress
linen sheets from Piglet in bed
Phillips Hue light, absolutely love this lamp.
Mac book air

weekly food/meal box Delivery , The green box, means I’m eating low carb with lots of vegetables including. So easy and I wouldn’t be without it.

Airfryer has been a game changer in this house

Good quality thermos food and drink flasks. A bigger outlay but have saved a fortune.

Good quality windproof cyclist thermal layers. Keep me toasty dog walking.

Decent walking boots and proper wool thermal socks.

Not a physical thing but Appliance insurance. Worth it's weight in gold

Oh god yes a thermos cup. My daughter ice skates and my brew is still warm 90mins after I’ve made it. I’m still agog !

A heated steering wheel!!! What kind of car do you have? I get terribly cold hands when I drive.

We have a VW Tiguan that has this feature

SometimesIchangemyname · 25/02/2024 07:12

My Reisenthel shopping trolley. It’s sturdy and so well made. With the trolley I rarely use my car to shop. I can pick up potatoes and tins and whatever and it’s a breeze rolling it home. I do live 5 minutes from a Lidl so that helps.
It’s been well worth the initial investment. 15 years of constant use! Doesn’t look like a pensioner’s trolley. I get a lot of people asking about it. I have the Carrycruiser in bright red.

SometimesIchangemyname · 25/02/2024 07:14

Totally agree re the little Victorinox knives. They are brilliant things and in constant use.
