To be angry that Scarlet Blake is being called a woman.

Scarlet Blake has been found guilty of murder. He also tortured and killed a cat.

He is not a woman.

This shouldn't be reported as a woman's crime.

Another one of Scarlet's relationships.

Described in court as a "girlfriend" but given the context and the lies promulgated in this case, a person of unknown biological sex.

ArabellaScott · 26/02/2024 15:27

Looking at comments on social media, lots of people think Scarlet is a woman. There are questions about why women are becoming more violent.

I'm surprised that Blake's minimum sentence to be served is only 24 years. It seems very lenient for the murder of a stranger, and Blake is clearly a sadist who gets sexual pleasure from killing. If he hadn't been caught after this murder, I'm sure it wouldn't have been his last.

Might be the American. Also Trans

The thread has been put under the "moderated flair" rules for "AMAs, 'debate arbitration', Q&As, but mostly related to anticipated Content Policy problems given our experience of such in the past".

"The flaring means some, or all, comments will be immediately hidden. Whether they are approved to show or not depends on the aim desired during the submission"

Which doesn't sound like very free comment to me.

Just had a look! Gaps all over the place where messages have been deleted 🙄

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/02/2024 19:13

The TV reporting is less explicit from what I've seen. One BBC report on Friday didn't mention the trans identity at all and just called him a woman.

DamasceneRose · 26/02/2024 19:15

Not a single message on that new Reddit thread yet, @Ereshkigalangcleg . I’ll be amazed if anything meaningful makes it past moderation.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/02/2024 19:18

On the older one, the main thing that's got through is someone saying that they are relieved he's being held in a male prison, snd then someone asks (possibly disingenuously) why a woman would be in a male prison. Why indeed.

I see that almost all of the 40+ comments underneath were deleted… There are clearly plenty of TRAs on Reddit who are ready to report “hateful” (factual) posts.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/02/2024 19:48

Yes, Reddit is ridiculous and misogynistic.

The victim was one of triplets. So sad that the family are still showing this man the respect of his preferred pronouns when he couldn't even respect their brother's life.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-68401335
Mr Carreno's two brothers read a statement to the court and said the extent of their grief was "impossible to express".

"We were triplets, born together, grew up together - we were best friends. Jorge lit up any place, he was always spreading joy. He was, above all, a good person," they said.

"Scarlet Blake has shown no remorse for her actions, making it even more difficult to process. She has taken the life of Jorge for her own sexual pleasure. It is deeply disturbing to know."

Reading a tribute to the court, Mr Carreno's mother, Carmen, added: "Jorge was not only an exemplary child but also an exceptional being.
"This loss feels like a traumatic, devastating blow, leaving a void impossible to fill. Going through the pain of losing a son, a brother, under such tragic and unjustified circumstances, is a trial no family should face. Today his absence leaves a deep wound in our hearts."
In his closing remarks, Mr Justice Chamberlain said the Carreno family had sat through the trial "with impressive dignity".

I must thank you for this thread @ArabellaScott

I cannot believe I was so naive, but when I read about this I was shocked it was perpetrated by a woman. It wasn't until I saw your thread that I realised that of course it is a man. Yet another violent sadistic one. There's plenty about. Look how many kill their partners in the UK every single week.

I am sick to death of our media and politicians lying to us.

Crime statistics should only be recorded by biological sex and I couldn't give a single shiny shit if that hurts the feelings of some cellar dwelling TRA who hates women because they can't get laid. Women are at risk from men who commit more violent acts. The only immorality around that is the people trying to obscure the facts around male violence without considering the impact on their victims.

And no I absolutely will not be kind to anyone who dares to appropriate womanhood or puts women at risk by suggesting men should be in their spaces.

DuesToTheDirt · 26/02/2024 20:56

@Thisisnotarehearsal I just don't believe the press any more. If I read that a woman has done something vanishingly unlikely, like indecent exposure or sexual assault, then unless there is conclusive evidence that it's a woman, I assume it's a man.

I'm sorry it needed to be pointed out.

If you are angry, channel it. Write to every news outlet, Ofcom, Ipsos, your MPs, local papers. They will do fuck all if we stay silent.

This bullshit is corroding public trust and damaging our ability to effectively risk assess and safeguard. It has to stop.

It's male violence. It's a lie that this man is a woman. It matters.

It is! I also think it makes a very difficult topic about gender identity even more philisophicaly difficult. It was a savage act of brutality carried out by a deeply troubled individual.

UtterlyOtterly · 26/02/2024 22:07

Many of the comments on the Oxford Mail website are pointing out he's a man.

DuesToTheDirt · 26/02/2024 22:47

@UtterlyOtterly I just looked at some of the Oxford Mail comments, and many of them are complete nonsense.

"How do you know this person has not fully transitioned, and therefore is correct to refer to her as 'female' or 'woman'. This is why they call this person a her, as she clearly must identify as a female. If it was a male person, it would not be transitioned fully, and not registered as a sex change, and still be called a 'he' or 'male'."

"So you say murder is a man's crime? Are females not enabled enough to commit murder then?"

"I really do not see how crimes have their own gender?"

"I know quite a few lesbians who would easily overpower a man."

Hmm
Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/02/2024 23:05

JK Rowling's tweet about it is however getting them to rage on Reddit!

UtterlyOtterly · 26/02/2024 23:05

DuesToTheDirt I agree, there are some batshit comments on there, probably from the usual trolls.

But there are quite a few pointing out it was a male crime.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/02/2024 23:14

"All she had to do was keep her mouth shut, but oh no she just keeps tripling it down"

Why would she want to keep her mouth shut? Confused
