Not aibu just intrigued. This thread was done on here ages ago and it was so fun. I have two:

Pasta is gross, I'll eat it but its not delicious as people make it out to be its cold slimy dough.

I'm sure she's nice but Beyonce is overrated.

People who say, "give your head a wobble"

I can't bear that phrase for some irrational reason!

I think it's regional.

Carwashandthemoog · 21/02/2024 08:35

I adore everything about the rain.

Love walking my dog in it (mainly because no other fucker is about which suits my introverted-self just fine!).

I also love listening to it when in bed or stuck in the car.

I just love love the rain and actually prefer it to a sweltering hot summer day.

Most of my family/friends think I’m nuts.

Beebopwasthebest · 21/02/2024 08:41

Expensive take away coffees should be banned. It's like an addiction now rather than a treat, so expensive if you add it up and a massive part of the UK litter problem.

Actually all drinks in plastic bottles should banned due to littering. Bring back water fountains/free water in paper cups in shops.

I judge adults with the palate of a child… by which I mean those who don’t like hot drinks, olives, any vaguely interesting seafood, wine, the more adventurous vegetables etc. Screwing your face up at an avocado is very childish.

You will love me. I'm vegetarian.
I never drink hot drinks.
I do not like wine.
I do not like avocado, it tastes like sick.

We will be great friends.

Plastic bags should be banned too.
There's no excuse not to bring your own bags to shops now.

I love it when strangers (including men) call me sweetheart or love or any other terms of endearment. I find it sounds affectionate, warm and friendly. The only thing I don't like is being called 'mate' by men when they say it in an aggressive, condescending or racist way (to me or dh).

LoyalMember · 21/02/2024 09:06

I hate people who aren't even that old who dress like dowdy old frumps. Male and female. I went to my wife's niece's Birthday Party recently and there were couples there who were younger than me in shapeless Asda jeans and sensible shoes. Come on, people, have some respect for yourselves.

Carwashandthemoog · 21/02/2024 09:19

LoyalMember my husband’s cousin and her husband dress like that. Since their 30’s (now in their 50’s) they have worn beige ‘slacks’ and pale blue tops. They actually match and it’s actually embarrassing going out with them (yes, I know I shouldn’t admit to that, I’m obviously a terrible person lol!). Their 18 year old son is just as frumpy.

I always look scruffy and probably ‘frumpy’ too but I don’t care about clothes or what other people think of my clothes. I do respect myself though. 🤷🏼‍♀️

My ex became an alcoholic (hence ex) so I’m very sensitive and judgemental about alcoholic. In my eyes anyone who drinks more than one small sherry at Christmas has a raging drink problem😁(I am jesting about the sherry in case anyone takes umbridge)

Edited

I'm sorry if your ex was an alcoholic.

I just think it's funny when people go on threads and say they only have a drink or two drink at Weddings as if they are far superior to people who like a few glasses of wine every weekend.

maryhadalittlegoat · 21/02/2024 09:31

I like it when people shorten my name even though I never use the shortened form myself

Ha me too. I used to care a lot about clothes, fashion, style but having lived through some great stresses over the years style is bottom of the pile. I very much respect myself though.

KimberleyClark · 21/02/2024 10:36

Stemless wine glasses are ridiculous. Caressing the stem is all part of the sensual experience of drinking a glass of wine.

I thought it was to prevent your hands warming the wine?

People who think Yorkshire is the best place on the planet but haven't actually lived anywhere else. This seems to be the theme on the local news. Never encountered it anywhere else Grin

You haven't met people from Cork or Kerry in Ireland so !
They absolutely believe their county is the best.
They might be right

Yep, loads of people love him/them, that’s why my opinion is the unpopular one. But seriously, “To die by your side, well the pleasure, the privilege is mine.” Why? Why would being mown down by a bus be such a heavenly way to die? I wanna die in a nursing home, in my nineties, because I was ogling the nurses after sneaking some whisky and chocolate cake and my heart just couldn’t take it anymore 🤣. Please, help me understand the appeal of the dreary lyrics. 😂

Edited

It's tongue-in-cheek, self-knowing, sixth form romanticism. Suburban Byron.

It's the story of someone reaching for moments of grand poetic glory (to die by your side) in the mundane reality of everyday Manchester life (a double-decker bus).

(I loved The Smiths as a teenager. Of course, Morrissey is a terrible white nationalist now, which rather spoils the memory...)

rainydaysagaindrizzle · 21/02/2024 11:03

@LadyEloise1 lol. Yorkshire is a nice place but dam I don't qualify for an Australian visa Grin

People who like cats make them their whole family.

Oh I'm the opposite, I absolutely hate it so much! I work with a lot of different regions and the only ones I can stand are the Scottish call me pal, and the midlands call me duck, anything else is unbearable 😂😂

ChristmasTreeMagic · 21/02/2024 11:16

@NonPlayerCharacter sorry but I still disagree with you regarding John Lennon. He isn't even in the same ballpark as Oscar Wilde 🙄
He most certainly fancied himself that he was though..I read an interview that he gave about 'reading ' Finnegans Wake - he said he read a page or two & 'he dug it' that James joyce was his creative brother 😂🙄🙄AS IF

Not a fan of Morrisey either, and think his music is dirge! See also Adele!
