Pretty much what the title says. This is obviously very light hearted and is a discussion I've had and wanted to gauge others' opinions.

Cleaning up after dinner means:

YABU = putting things in the dishwasher or washing up. That's it.

YANBU = as above but also giving the hob and worktops a quick wipe over and leaving the sink clean (not full of food scraps). So leaving the kitchen clean and put away.

Wash pots (no dishwasher) will also collect any glasses/plates hanging around the house. Clean/disinfect sides, hob and dining table. Sweep kitchen and dining room floor. If I include tidying and hoovering the lounge after DC are in bed takes about an hour to fix downstairs at the end end of the day.

For DP however he simply washes up and walks away job done, takes 15 minutes.

Noone cleans the hobs every day, what a colossal waste of time

I do! Otherwise it's manky from dropped bits of food!

Since it’s only me and my meals are just reheated in the microwave, it’s only a matter of cleaning one plate, knife, fork and spoon, the microwave plate cover and the two containers the food came in, and returning them to the community kitchen.

I clean as I go, and wash up before I sit down to eat so the kitchen is clean and you would never know I'd been cooking at all. I cannot leave things lying about, it drives me mad!

I re- wax all the wooden worktops daily and once a week rebuild the entire kitchen extension.

I can't believe you only rebuild your kitchen once a week!
