And that’s the crux of it. Aibu is a welcome space away from the faux interest and #bekind of the rest of the internet. I don’t particularly want Aibu to turn into FB with everyone chasing likes and affirmations. It’s soulless and dull. Nobody actually gives a shit about a complete strangers happiness at buying a bag and it’s irritatingly hollow.

I don’t think I was nasty but I did poke some fun because it is ridiculous to be looking on an anonymous forum for that affirmation. I don’t really have much of an issue with those who did sharpen their claws because I presume, like me, they appreciate Aibu for what it is and don’t really want to encourage more posts like it 🤷‍♀️

But why ‘of course’? It’s her money, she can spend it on what she likes, and if she wants to show of her handbag who cares? No one needs to engage if it’s irrelevant to them, or distasteful.

They sometimes post in AIBU too, and I no more engage in those threads than I do the camping section. The only reason I would engage in them is if I actually did care, or maybe cared about repeatedly insisting how much I don’t care I guess.

Then they’re free to move along? Not everything has to cater to their sensibilities.

Sure, but equally if you leave shitty comments about someone being happy then it should come as no surprise that others will believe you bitter and jealous. That too comes with the territory.

new bag, socks, bra = don’t care.

turning a forum not utilised for likes and affirmation into an knock off insta page = do care so will push back on users attempting to do this and hopefully deter others from being tempted to do the same.

I too have just left an airport, but my table looked quite different to yours. I would imagine mine represented my vacation quite well. A large pizza slice on a paper plate, a huge wedge of vanilla cheesecake, a Coke and my bag of choice was a shopper I got from Target for 5 cents.

I thought they would be? But they aren't. I live a few hours away from any decent city (and even then you wouldn't find ALL the designer brands) so for it's a matter of convenience.

Oh God not this again. Not everyone is struggling in this current climate. Maybe OP works for a charity we don't know. One is not responsible for other people's struggles. Someone has to buy the designer don't they? Otherwise they wouldn't be in business.
