I’m reading this as facetious so apologies if I’ve got it wrong… but if the OP will get a little twinge of joy when she looks at it then she HAS put the money to good use.

The way to keep ourself out of recession is for money to keep moving. OP has presumably paid income tax on her money and has now paid a hefty wack of VAT. That handbag has trickled down to income for the fabric wholesaler (farmer of the cow, if leather and so even the feed merchant for said cows), hauliers, factory workers, the company that makes the boxes, the retail assistants & even the company that refills the water fountain in the staffroom for the retail assistants.
I’d rather that than keep the same money in savings and be lucky to make 50p interest.

Jealousy is uglier than any bag could ever be.

I do like the American SW tho - rocks, big skies and great crafts and art. Hope you've also packed some sturdy shoes so you can hike in a National park or two.

Well I thought it was duty free, but no. It was exactly the same price as online/in-store. So I'm assuming I did pay VAT. I'll check once I get out of bed.
