Karen’s Diner/Katie Hopkins - cancel?

It’s my eldest’s 30th this year, and as a surprise I’ve planned a day out for us on March 17th. We’re going to Hello Kitty cafe, Priscilla the Party and ending up in Karen’s Diner in Islington.
Some of you might know Karen’s from Social media. You basically get insulted and it looks very amusing.
I see from their insta, they’re doing some kind of collaboration with Katie Hopkins in their Manchester and Birmingham restaurants I think.
I am horrified and have left comments to that effect.
I actually feel that I want to cancel, and it’s a shame as it’s something we’d wanted to do for ages.
I however, cannot give my hard earned ££ to an organisation that is giving a platform to a racist right wing Trump supporting bigot.
Am I being unreasonable to cancel our reservation??

Well if you don't get people disagreeing you won't need to wonder about fascism.

It's my real name and I'm getting to the point that I don't like to tell people that. It's bad enough that this sort of name baiting still exists but to know that there is an actual business where this sort of behaviour is encouraged - I despair.

This. I remember when a couple ran to the DM complaining about a Frankie Boyle show. Apparently he’d make a joke about disabled people and they were angry as they had a disabled child. I’m guessing they were fine with his racist and homophobic jokes though, which is why they were there in the first place…

Is she talking about how she enthusiastically supported Brexit which kicked off the ‘small boat’ issue? Or has she forgotten all about that and is blaming the government for the issue saying its not being right wing Brexity enough?

Indeed. There have however been lots of people who HAVE believed/said exactly that this past few years that KH has challenged vehemently.
An example of this would be when she was touring NYC during the pandemic, after the city had mandated Covid passports to dine inside restaurants.
Lots of people were loudly in support of this policy. KH, however, had identified an unfortunate consequence of the fact that uptake of the jab among African-Americans at that time was low - so there was a clear disparity in those sitting comfortably 'inside'... and those dining in the cold 'outside' on the street.
She commented on how utterly vile this was - which it is. Yet she's a fascist and a racist apparently 🤔

This! 👏👏 She certainly has an acerbic style of delivery but much of what she says is spot on.

I don't know off the top of my head. I would assume those condemning her would be doing so on the basis of having actually watched her content for themselves. Only then can they really make an informed opinion.

Can’t see the appeal of Karen’s diner at all. I’ve seen clips on SM and it was so unfunny. Forced laughter by the customers and the insults weren’t amusing at all (and im happy to watch a decent comedian take the piss out of people when done well!). Teaming up with Katie Hopkins is even more of a reason to cancel. Vile person.

And likes to make fun of a man who has just died in his 50’s, leaving his wife and 2 teenage children, purely because his wife spoke out about his ordeal on tv. I wonder if KH could work on a breakfast show and care for her severely ill husband. She is the absolute lowest of the low. She makes me feel sick.

Yes, it is still there. I think it is under new management because although they gave me the bill before I asked for it, no one was rude, just no frills. Place was packed so the food has probably improved.

Her views tend to be polarising and often quite far from my own but what she does highlight to me is how important Free Speech is, how lucky we are to have it ( just..) in the UK. And that I approve of.

Maybe less daytime drinking for you. I’m not saying I agree with everything that she says. But she’s pretty spot on most of the time.

Why do people who literally hate KH read everything she says and follow her on Twitter?

if someone really annoyed me i wouldn’t read what they post.
Another forum I’m on people hate Nigel Farage yet know everything about him, watch him on GB news etc etc. then go on social media & moan about him. It’s like an obsession.
