My husband still thinks everything is because of Covid

Sorry, I didn't know how to word the title.

His attitude is making me want a divorce. Ever since Covid he's adopted views which I completely disagree with and I think he's verging on conspiracy theory.

I just mentioned to him this evening that Chris Hoy has cancer.

Instantly he said "that's because of the Covid vaccine."

WHAT???

I'm actually so angry because he genuinely believes he's right and I'm wrong.

Everything that goes wrong is because of the vaccine.

Wwyd in this situation?

Which way do you work lovely? Let me Hazzard a guess.. you do your own research right?

Perfect28 · 17/02/2024 10:16

You'll note how I'm not engaging in any of your arguments. That should show you how I regard them 😊

Garlickit · 17/02/2024 10:17

the replication crisis, which has exposed significant flaws in much of scientific research

In order for findings to be accepted, they must be replicable. That's not a bug, @Lea3, it's a feature.

There is a research 'crisis' going on. It's about hundreds of studies being uploaded to open platforms every day, far more than can be reviewed in a timely manner. That's led to thousands and thousands of unchecked papers being widely available online, where they are read by people who don't know how to verify the findings. Only a tiny percentage of readers look for the peer reviews, and an even smaller percentage of them check the reviewers' credentials. Hardly anybody cross-checks the cited precedents, methodologies and logic for themselves.

That's how you can find earnest papers proposing or supporting the most batshit of theories 🙃

You said ‘we live in a free speech country’ .

I’m saying you can indeed say what you like, but there will be natural consequences of that.

Someone can say to me ‘I think vaccines cause autism’ and the consequence of that is I will think they are an idiot and decide not to spend time with them.

Spewing idiocy means people will not want to spend time with you.

I’m not shutting anyone down.

Plus we do not actually live in a 'free speech country'. That is a common misconception about the UK. Article 10 of the EHCR protects freedom of expression, but ironically a lot of 'freeze peach' nuts are the very people who want us out of the EHCR! There is no First Amendment equivalent which is specific to UK law, and the Conservatives would love to curtail our rights to protest.

I did, yes - it's evident that you've exhausted your ability for substantive discourse. Ad hominems and appeals to authority failed, so now you resort to patronising remarks and emojis in order to try to goad.

Really sad to see an esteemed scholar behave this way.

The deterioration in your spelling and grammar (and double replies) suggest that you may be vexed in some way, but I'd have thought that an esteemed scholar such as you would thrive on discourse.

Perfect28 · 17/02/2024 10:33

Are you actually ok? At what point did I say I'm a scholar? 😂

I'd say he's right look up Dr Campbell. The covid jabs weaken your immune system and seem to be causing turbo cancers and heart issues in young people and middle aged peoeple. My 3 children just lost their father to cancer he had the jabs and wishes he hadn't. He was diagnosed with bile duct cancer that's usually seen in old people and it had already spread.

You're mischaracterising it: this isn't about fringe studies being "uploaded" to various platforms. This is about prestigious journals publishing studies which claim significant effects, which have subsequently been found unable to be replicated.

You're brave, on a forum that are clearly in denial. Where is astra zeneca now? No longer term testing of this vaccine. Unusual considering they take 7 years minimum and are experimental. On the other hand no, not all cancers are caused by vaccine.

Larmani · 17/02/2024 10:49

Accelerated cancers are linked with Covid boosters

Andthereyougo · 17/02/2024 10:56

I find it weird that some people have all these unfounded opinions about the Covid vaccines but never have an opinion on the Polio or tetanus vaccines. Maybe because they realise they could have become disabled by polio or died from tetanus but don’t like to mention that ?

Patrickiscrazy · 17/02/2024 11:04

Yawn. Sorry, OP. Commiserations. It's hard and draining to live around people like this. ☕🍩

Are they? Could you link to the studies? I had a Google but couldn’t find anything.

Larmani · 17/02/2024 11:15

Don't be daft! It's suppressed of course. Look for Doctor John..

Obviously they don't want to scare the people who had lots of pointless boosters. I'm happy to say I had only the one NON-mRNA jab...and no others. Had one mild Covid (pretty much just a bad cold) and nothing else, whilst everyone I know who had multiple jabs had several Covid attacks...most pretty severe...and more than a few have now been diagnosed with various cancers (some young people too!).

I'm so sorry Chenners to hear about your husband and your children's dad. It's heartbreaking.
I think it's very normal to question what may have contributed to a cancer that's unusual for the demographic of the person that has it.

This reminds me of this meme I once saw.

That's perfectly understanable to me: it's natural that when people are afraid of something, they're prepared to take chances on potential solutions, even if they believe those solutions may carry their own risks.

Before the vaccine, approximately 1 in 200 cases of polio led to paralysis. Far more serious than covid. Also, polio and tetanus vaccinations have now been proven effective and safe for decades.

When the potential consequences of something are likely to be mild for the individual, they're more inclined to accept the risk rather than opt for a solution that's seen to pose its own dangers.

Hence the constant updates on death tolls etc during the pandemic.

Larmani · 17/02/2024 11:44

There we have it. No denate. No arguments presented. No evidence...just attack any other opinions by attacking the messenger. Classic head in the sand. Search for Doctor John.

Exactly the same as 'climate change'...just go back through alarmist headlines since the seventies and you will see forecasts of disaster that have never come to pass.

Those who blindly follow the narrative of politicians who have everything to gain should have their intelligence questioned. Just follow the money.

Larmani · 17/02/2024 11:45

Aplogies for typo - debate 😂

Samlewis96 · 17/02/2024 11:58

See I wouldn't lock down. I worked out and about 7 days a week during covid delivering food etc. To all the people at home. And never yet had covid. As for jabs I had the first 2 to be allowed to travel.

However I do not really care if people locked down/ broke rules/ had jabs. As for jabs causing stuff ithink it's too early to know either way.

Anti vaxxers have been saying vaccines cause cancers since my DD was little and when I first looked into it - way before Covid so that’s nothing new. I was given all these pamphlets to read by friends who were card carrying members of an anti vaxxer support group when I was pregnant and I remember those claims.

And I remember when the Covid vaccines first came out, some people said we would all be dead in two years! And yet, we are still here.

Merryoldgoat · 17/02/2024 12:04

I’m not blindly following anything, but I want proof and evidence before believing something.

’Dr John’ isn’t a medical doctor, has repeatedly misinterpreted scientific data, and makes money spreading misinformation.

There IS data linking Covid-19 infection with accelerated cancers. You know, actual studies.

How on earth is only one retired A&E nurse privy to this secret explosive information?

so people ridiculing the poster's husband of being stupid and she should divorce him? What a lovely bunch of people hey

Yep. That’s very much what I think. I couldn’t be married to someone that unable to think rationally.

Thing is that a lot of today's problems ARE caused by the lockdowns, etc., such as staff shortages, price rises, materials shortages, shops closing, etc.

But cancer certainly isn't! People got cancer before covid so I don't understand the logic (there is none) of the OP's hubbie thinking the vaccine caused cancer!
