Kids really do humble you

This is meant as a light hearted thread so please share your stories (if anything to make me feel better Grin )

DS is 3 and non verbal (genetic condition and possible ASD) and we were watching an animal thing on YouTube practicing words and actions but he can't speak properly so for example he'll say whaa for whale, caaa for cat etc anyway we were watching and he was saying these sorts of words and doing the actions for the animals when a big fat panda bear came on stuffing it's cute face with bamboo and as clear as day DS says "mummy" like what the heck my little dude, don't do this to me.

I'm hoping he was saying it out of context but I was proud he said an actual word but also very offended Grin

It gave me a good chuckle.

Has yours or other kids humbled you or just embarrassed you for fun?

Talking to DD5 about the importance of exercise and I said that I liked to go to the gym to exercise and she says “Mummy, you don’t actually go to the gym though do you?”. Humbled 😂

On holiday with parents and my DC when she was 4.
Been swimming me and DC in one changing cubicle and my mum next door.

DC in really loud voice - mummy why do your boobies have orange eyes?

Could hear my mum snorting and gasping for air in the other cubicle.

I laughed so much I cried and then remembered I had to open the door and leave and pray there was no one outside....

Not so much humbling but so funny at the time

All the time! Today DD (11) who is a moody, hormonal pre-teen picked out some god awful new curtains for her bedroom. They looked like something my nan would've had in the 90s! I told her they were a bit old fashioned for a young girls room, she turned around and glared at me and said 'well you're just old full stop.' Safe to say she didn't get the curtains! 😆

Very loudly in the swimming changing rooms my dd asked why my boobs were so down.
My ds was in the car and said "I love you" my husband said "I love you too" to which ds responded I wasn't talking to you, he was talking to his Thomas train.
In a public toilet I did a tiny silent fart when having a wee, dd starts shouting "errr it stinks in here, what is that terrible smell, is that you?" oh the shame

My very mellow 7 year old DS was furious when I answered his question about who I love more, him or the kittens. He thought I was being very unreasonable to love him more than the cats.

@Miner that's gorgeous 😍

@Mothership4two I was a child in the 70s and didn't see friends mum's tits.

Danikm151 · 16/02/2024 22:41

My 3 year old was sitting next to me the other day, he pulled up my trouser leg and ask “mommy why are you so fluffy?”

in my defence it is winter so no point in shaving 😂

Flicking through magazine with DS4 peering over.

Picture of JLo. "Mummy!" (Why thank you DS)

Picture of very pretty model in perfume ad. "Mummy!" (Oh, DS you little charmer, don't stop)

Picture of Miriam Margolyes as Professor Sprout. "Mummy!" (Well that told me.)

YOUSEECOLOURS · 16/02/2024 22:50

Climbed over the bed guard in to my 3 year olds bed at 4am when she woke.... And she sleepily said 'mummy, you have a big bum'

When DS was about 4

Wobbling my belly "wobble wobble.. mum, do you have a baby in your tummy? Hahaha.. nah, it's just candies!" 🫣

Countrygirlxo · 16/02/2024 23:14

My SD (than aged 5) once said to me after she'd seen me for the first time without make up. "You look better with make up on."

I was singing a nursery rhyme to DS when he was about 3 or 4. His words to me were "I love you mummy, but I'll love you even more if you stop that noise!"

You’ve reminded me of singing a nursery rhyme to cute little 2 year old DD who humoured me for a couple of lines and then said witheringly “Why are you making that noise? With. Your. Mouth?”

Mothership4two · 17/02/2024 00:47

@Ulysees

@Mothership4two I was a child in the 70s and didn't see friends mum's tits.

The "what can I say it was the 70s" was tongue in cheek. I was about 7 or 8 and we lived next door so we basically lived in each other's houses. They were also quite hippy dippyish and I know went to a naturist lake on one occasion (my parents said I couldn't go). She wasn't wandering about constantly naked but I saw her (above the belt) in the bath or getting changed occasionally. Really wasn't a big deal at the time.

My point was me saying my mum had old boobs

DysmalRadius · 17/02/2024 01:08

Me to my youngest: Careful that balloon doesn't whack the lampshade.
Him: That's what dad said.
Me: Did he? Well, great minds think alike.
Him: yes, and sometimes dad too!

Brutal. 🤣

northernmamax · 17/02/2024 01:28

Last night my two year old daughter said my boobies were on my belly 🙄🤣
