Just been watching the news about Biden's memory. He really needs to step down IMHO.

He’s an excellent President doing an incredible job.

yes he’s old, but try getting trump to speak sense on issues that matter. Not possible. Trump seems like he has no memory issues because all he talks is horse shit. He’s conditioned the world to expect horse shit from him. Don’t need to make sense when that’s all you got = horse shit.

JubileeJumps · 10/02/2024 05:26

It's not ideal but someone has to stop Trump. If trump is reelected he will end democracy, destroy any remaining women's rights and roll back any environmental legislation to the detriment of the whole world.
Boden is a forgetful old man but still on the ball in many ways and 100% whereas Trump is the polar opposite.

LlynTegid · 10/02/2024 06:57

It is sad to see anyone with memory loss. Not the first President as towards the end of his second term Ronald Reagan had similar issues.

If only the alternative was not Donald Trump.

Janetime · 10/02/2024 07:22

I don’t understand enough about American politics, but surely it cannot be simply only trump or Biden?

biden clearly has significant cognitive impairment now. Plenty of people in their 80s are not impaired and fully functioning, Biden is not one of them, and where as a slow decline was apparent before, it is very clear the man’s memory is rapidly declining, and as such he is not capable of being in office. Not for much longer and arguably shouldn’t be there now.

and I don’t even know where to start with trump.

are they simply unable to field another candidate other than Biden? Surely the two choices cannot be an elderly criminal sex offender or a man with signficant cognitive impairment?

megletthesecond · 10/02/2024 07:27

Yanbu. I think he's gone downhill a lot since he was elected. He was ok a few years ago.

If the Democrats don't shape up fast with a better leader then Trump will get in again. Why isn't Harris stepping up?

Sux2buthen · 10/02/2024 07:36

Are people actually mocking the way others talk now? If that's the best anyone can do that's embarrassing.
This thread is pathetic

What does, "fuck- simple of y'all" mean?

Apparently it's evolved from German, or something.

Julianne65 · 10/02/2024 07:52

This could be an interesting thread if people stopped derailing it with childish insults.

That’s what I thought and tried to turn it back to politics, but seems it’s just a slagging each other off platform.

PSA: Brits saying "y'all" makes you look like absolute TWATS.

Which is correctly pronounced as "TWAHTS", by people who say "y'all".

It's also "peCAHHN pie", not PEE-can", bless your hearts. :)

:)

Go and polish your guns pet.

Superlambaanana · 10/02/2024 08:05

Yes I agree he isn't getting any younger. What will he be like in 4 years time? And what are the Democrats going to do if he falls ill or dies within the term - even if he was able to be President for 4 years, who on earth do they field next time if they haven't got any decent alternatives now?!

Tlolljs · 10/02/2024 08:07

MorrisZapp · 10/02/2024 00:01

Pecan pie is so 80s. I remember the excitement when the local deli in Glasgow started doing Mississippi Mud Pie. Oooh the glamour.

I bloody love Mississippi mud pie.

LOL

But seriously, aren't most people in the US mortified that the 2 best people they can offer up to a position that is pretty close to the most influential and pwerful in the entire world, are two old men . One who used to be with it ; and one who is a madman. I'd be ashamed to be American.

NewYearNewCalendar · 10/02/2024 08:18

Biden’s cognitive decline is obvious. Trump’s appears to be similar when he’s actually pinned down to a subject but it’s far less obvious because he’s always spoken in such a weird meandering way.

American politics is in such a mess right now. The Republican Party is scared of Trump, lots of people just keeping their mouths shut until he dies because they know he would destroy them if they spoke up.

TheDowdyQueen · 10/02/2024 08:19

I mean 2 Bush's. Almost 2 Clintons. Now 2 old farts - one can't remember what day it is and one who is a paranoid lunatic. Where the hell is everyone else?

Grin. This about sums it up for me.

Both Trump and Biden are too old. And too mad, in their different ways.

delurkingtoaskagain · 10/02/2024 08:30

The decent Democrat alternatives don’t want to go up against Trump and risk losing. They are keeping their powder dry for four years’ time.

and MN where has the quote function gone?

Tinkerbyebye · 10/02/2024 08:34

In my opinion yes he is past it, and I also think he is just a front man now and someone, or a group of people, are being the puppetmaster

as to elections, Trump or Biden America's in trouble

@delurkingtoaskagain

its at the bottom left now along with thanks, report etc

FrannieSaid · 10/02/2024 08:40

Y'all know that the "equally bad" nonsense is straight up Russian propaganda, right?

RIGHT?

BarelyLiterate · 10/02/2024 08:51

Biden has done a great job. He is an excellent president, despite having always been prone to the occasional gaffe.

BUT he should only serve a single term, because old age has clearly caught up with him, and that process will only continue and get worse. The Democrats need to find another credible candidate for this year’s election and for them & Biden to campaign together.

Michelle Obama would be an obvious choice and would be an outstanding candidate, but she has always said she didn’t want the job & had no intention of running. Could the party change her mind?

Trump for President ! 🎉
I am a Trump supporter

Awww bless

CurlewKate · 10/02/2024 08:55

If I have to choose between someone who's had an excellent trust term but is a bit forgetful on occasion and Donald Trump then I know who I'd choose.

Maddy70 · 10/02/2024 08:56

SummerFeverVenice · 09/02/2024 23:11

Yes, because imho I have watched Kamal Harris purposely sidelined, likely due to her sex and race. She is a very intelligent, experienced and capable professional.

This. I would love her to be president but becuaee of these two factors in backwards USA shes unelectable

Naunet · 10/02/2024 09:05

FrannieSaid · 09/02/2024 22:48

Y'all are already FAR behind, with pandemic response and Brexit... but, sure, lets see how that plays out. :)

Yeah but at least we don’t have to pick between two creepy men with dodgy histories of perverted interactions with their own daughters.

drivinmecrazy · 10/02/2024 09:05

The live TV hustings between these two will be interesting.

It's difficult to see Biden inspiring confidence with the American voters if they went head to head sadly.
I had always assumed that he would step down at the end of this term with Kamala Harris running for president.
I wonder what happened to this plan.
I assume that the electorate is not ready to accept a woman, let alone a woman of colour, as their president.
Very sad if this is the case
