To not vote Labour because of their abhorrent views on the female sex?

1000 replies

Lion400 · 05/02/2024 18:43

Starmer cannot represent women, he can’t even define us. Questioning a trans person is a hate crime, but misogyny is not. Sorry Labour, you’ve lost my vote. Have they lost anyone else’s??

‘On trans ideology, the vast majority of voters, and certainly a majority of traditional Labour voters from working class backgrounds, tend to cast a sceptical eye on the tenets of an ideological movement that asserts that biological men must be accepted as women – and be offered similar rights and access to women’s spaces and sports as women – simply by asserting their new status’

Transgender ideology has created the biggest medical scandal of our generation

Vulnerable young people who transitioned before they were ready are paying a high price for this disastrous project

Well what is being gay if it is not being exclusive same sex attracted?

I wonder if you mean the LGB Alliance when you say 'anti gay institutions' which is laughable really.

Or do you subscribe to the theory that lesbians can have a penis?

If you mean something else then please do explain.

Edited

You're clearly showing you're really not well informed on these issues, and I'm not going to educate you. As people so often say here, do your own research.

Can you really not understand that some epithets are not considered acceptable to people for various reasons? For example outdated terms when referring to people of colour etc.

What’s wrong with the term same-sex attraction? Have I missed something! How can that be anti-gay? Are there connotations I’m unaware of?

The only thing I can think of is it could be seen as trans exclusive.

There is a push by the genderists to change the language to same gender attracted. What we have in fact is heterosexual 'gay' relationships etc.

Lesbians being akin to sexual racists for discounting trans women from the dating pool etc.

Oh my dear god, for using language that correctly describes what being gay is I'm not 'well informed'.

And I could do with being educated. The only people who object to the same sex attraction definition are genderists. I don't subscribe to your belief system.

it is homophobic to say that gay people should include people of the opposite sex in their dating pool.

@hotinhereandthere no I’m asking you to explain. You aligned me with anti gay and homophobia and I’m asking you to explain why. Back up your assertion. Unless it doesn’t hold up in daylight? 🤔

From the Oxford English Dictionary -
Homosexuality Definition-

Characterized by sexual or romantic attraction to, or sexual activity with, people of the same sex; involving or relating to same-sex desire or sexual activity.

Same sex attration is a term used in certain church circles basically to say that while some people 'may' experience same sex attraction, there is no such thing as someone being inherently gay, which then opens up possibilities for conversion therapy, i.e. 'praying the gay away'. Survivors of these abhorrent practices can testify to the extremely damaging pscyhological and emotional effects of this.

Equality Act 2010 defintion -

12 Sexual orientation
(1) Sexual orientation means a person’s sexual orientation towards –
(a) persons of the same sex,
(b) persons of the opposite sex, or
(c) persons of either sex.

No where in this definition is attraction to person of the same gender mentioned.

Sexual orientation is a Protected Characteristic.

Article about the cotton ceiling/ harms to lesbians by mangling language around same sex attraction -

This is an important reason why gender ideology – the belief that gender identity, whether someone identifies as a man or a woman, should replace biological sex in society when it comes to sports, single-sex spaces and data collection – has divided people who are gay, lesbian and bisexual. Taken to its logical conclusion, it redefines same-sex attraction as same-gender-identity attraction. But this is fiercely resisted by those who say this simply does not accord with the lived experience of their own sexuality.

If a lesbian only desires same-sex dates that’s not bigotry, it’s her right | Sonia Sodha

At Allison Bailey’s employment tribunal, breaking the ‘cotton ceiling’ was equated to racial integration, an idea that is as wrong as it is dangerous

I suggest that anyone considering voting Tory because 'they know what women are', should investigate comments about women made by

  • Rees-Mogg (regards abortion for rape victims or victims of incest as a "second crime' yet his investment company has interests in the morning after pill which he profits from)
  • Raub (doesn't know that Misogyny only applies to women, and is on record referring to feminists as 'obnoxious bigots'),
  • Johnson (his lifestyle says it all, but his comments about Islamic women's clothing managed to be both sexist and racist)
  • and (in the interest of Trans inclusively) pay special attention to Jamie Wallis Tory MP for Bridgend. Currently the only trans MP and someone who used to run a website offering female students (your daughters?) to old men to be fucked for money.

Do I believe Labour would be better than this? Oddly enough I do.

RTFT. Is it full of women saying 'yay Tories'? No, it's full of women saying the Tories are venal self serving bastards, but why won't Labour commit to protecting women's rights and child safeguarding.

Surely you would be better to organise and put pressure on Labour to rethink their position? Obviously its frustrating that trans activists have got in first. But otherwise who are you going to vote for the Tories?

I tried, unsuccessfully, to arrange a meeeting with my local Labour MP (about five/six years) ago to discuss issues around reform of the GRA and the proposals for Self ID. I even offered to arrange the meeting, get a group of constituents together and so on.....but she declined to meet us, telling us that Self Id was Labour party policy and as such she had no compulsion to meet with us.

Her office manger was rude and disrespectful, telling us " you are wasting your time, she is not going to change her mind".

Every time she speaks in parliament or at the Women and Equalities committee she fails to represent the voices and concerns of her constituents. She has the Mermaids logo, still, at the top of her twitter account. I cannot stand her. You think I'd vote for her?

Is that like 'transing the gay away '? Like the GIDS staff used to bleakly joke they were doing, when putting almost 100% of the children referred to them onto a pathway of puberty blockers followed by wrong sex hormones?

newnamethanks · 07/02/2024 09:35

Yup I'm voting Tory as they're so 'woman friendly'. I know this because of the number of sexual offences Tory MPs stand accused of. They definitely know what a woman is for. Let's have lots more of the graspers and gropers, years and years more. Hurrah for them.

This is so one sided though. You need to also bullet point what labour are saying and doing. Someone posted some telling quotes earlier. It's not a case of good versus evil. Its a case of deciding which abhorrent party will do the least long term damage to women's rights.

newnamethanks · 07/02/2024 09:46

One-sided? 14 years of Tory woman-friendly evidence. What more could you ask for.

Justifiedcheese · 07/02/2024 09:47

@literalviolence

It's the Tories. Most of whom are pretending they "stand for women's rights" in a transparent effort to gull the gullible. And you fell for it.

ZeldaFighter · 07/02/2024 09:54

Yes, YABU.

Women's rights are important but the NHS is important to everyone, as are schools, Council services, infrastructure, criminal justice, blue light services etc etc

If the Tories are marginally better on women's rights, they are abysmal on everything else. Broken Britain is their fault. Brexit was their baby.

Please spoil your ballot rather than vote Tory.

newnamethanks · 07/02/2024 09:55

What happened to the Well Woman drop in clinics? And Sure Start? Which party has run down the NHS, privatised as much profit as it can from it, leaving the remnants to be fought over by those who need it most? Who needs it most ? Women. Thanks Tories we know you have our best interests at heart. It's evident in everything you do.

No. you don't understand what people are saying. when we draw attention to the misogynistic and aggressive anti women stance of the Labour Party, that's not defending the Tories. I've not seen anyone say that the Tories are friends of women on this thread. The question is, which of the parties which are no friend to women (because Labour isn't either and it would be naive to think they were) will do the least damage? that is a matter of opinion and perhaps also vantage point but you'd need to be gullible as hell to think that the labour party are pro female equity or have a functioning moral compass.
