To not vote Labour because of their abhorrent views on the female sex?

1000 replies

Lion400 · 05/02/2024 18:43

Starmer cannot represent women, he can’t even define us. Questioning a trans person is a hate crime, but misogyny is not. Sorry Labour, you’ve lost my vote. Have they lost anyone else’s??

‘On trans ideology, the vast majority of voters, and certainly a majority of traditional Labour voters from working class backgrounds, tend to cast a sceptical eye on the tenets of an ideological movement that asserts that biological men must be accepted as women – and be offered similar rights and access to women’s spaces and sports as women – simply by asserting their new status’

Transgender ideology has created the biggest medical scandal of our generation

Vulnerable young people who transitioned before they were ready are paying a high price for this disastrous project

Apart from in the case of primogeniture, where there is an exception. Its obviously not a watertight draft

Anyway people can't change sex so your statement makes no sense 🤷

of course there is, can't have women getting rights by deception.

The Labour Party made sure that was the case didn't they when they enacted the law.

Is that one of the amendments they are seeking? Thought not.

Clavinova · 06/02/2024 18:04

DuncinToffee
Labour party introduced it, Conservatives ran with it

It was Labour who actually put it in their manifesto;

2017
Corbyn said: “Discrimination has gone on too long. The Gender Recognition Act does not allow trans people to self-identify their gender and forces them to undergo invasive medical tests. This is wrong.

“Labour recognised this in our manifesto, pledging to update the act. Theresa May told Pink News that ‘changes need to be made’ but failed to include anything on this in the Conservative manifesto.

“So, I say to her, Labour will help you keep your promise. Bring forward a bill to update the act and improve trans rights and Labour will back you. You can give your MPs and the DUP a free vote and Labour will make it law.”

The Conservatives have not done anything to ensure that women do not suffer as a result of changing the laws or practice relating to transgendering.

The Conservatives have not done the simple act of protecting safety in women's sport (no funding for any sport that does not so this as most sports receive lottery funding).

It was a Conservative MP that delayed making up skirting a criminal offence.

It is under the Conservatives that justice has been delayed and the chances of a rapist being convicted are almost as rare as being hit by a bus.

It is a Conservative government that has increased poverty, more likely to harm women who are the majority of low income families, and limit any escape from domestic violence or coercion.

It is a Conservative Prime Minister who because of his inaction in March 2020 led to 20,000 avoidable deaths, whilst mostly men, denied women the opportunity to grieve properly, as the mainly men in Downing Street partied.

The argument at the next general election should be who to vote for other than the Conservative party.

@lifeturnsonadime tbh the tories are scraping the barrel with the culture war. And funnily enough today they’ve formed a ‘popular conservative faction’ within the party led by Rees mogg, Liz truss amongst others designed to fight wokedom in the UK. Obviously when that’s sorted all will be good….

Have they? You know more about the tories than I do.

Labour could put an end to a lot of this. Not hard to commit to protecting women and children and doing it in a way that it's clear they mean it!

(For avoidance of doubt it is the fact that they are simplifying the procedure for men to be legal females rather than revoking it, when they have seen the harms to women that I am referring to).

hotinhereandthere · 06/02/2024 18:11

I find it really disturbing how transphobes are allowed to run riot here, saying offensive things like 'female man' and constantly referring to trans women as 'men', the complete denials of the validity of transgenderism - there was even someone recently who called for trans women (or was it trans men too, can't remember) to be publicly derided and ostracised and so on. This is why it's hard to take any of these 'legitimate concerns' about women's safety seriously when you're so obviously just dealing with old-fashioned intolerance disguised as 'feminism'.

The truth is not transphobic.

Correctly sexing humans is not transphobic.

Hiding the truth harms women.

Gender critical beliefs (or sex realism) are protected in law.

Of the 126 fines, 53 fines were issued to men and 73 to women

hotinhereandthere · 06/02/2024 18:13

It's not that simple. Things rarely are.

Of course it is.

There are only 2 sexes.

Most of the time it doesn't matter what a person wears or calls themselves but there are times that a person's sex matters more than a person's gender expression.

As JKR says a person can wear what they want and love who they want but humans can't change sex.

There are times when society needs to be divided by SEX to protect women because women have been abused and disadvantaged through time due to our sexed bodies and perceptions about our reproductive capabilities. Males who identify as trans women are male and should not be considered as female because they are still male no matter what they wear or what extreme body modification they have undergone.

This is not because they are trans, I couldn't care less what they wear or what they call themselves, it is because they are MALE.

This is why the lie perpetuated by the GRA is so harmful. It has legalised a position that some men are legally women. This harms women.

It was also the Conservatives that made it much harder (impossible for most) to get legal aid for domestic violence.

@lifeturnsonadime what would you do if your own child came out as transgender ?

EffieeBriest · 06/02/2024 18:25

@lifeturnsonadime what would you do if your own child came out as transgender ?

My daughter is autistic and was gender non conforming when she was younger (pre-puberty) because of sensory issues.

She wore boys clothes and wore her hair short. She was often asked if she was a boy.

She asked me if I thought she might be a boy because of that line of questioning. I said I didn't think that there was a wrong way to be a girl and it was fine to wear what she wanted etc. She was a bit secluded from the ideology as she was out of school because school couldn't support her SEN needs.

Now she is 14 still plays sport traditionally for boys (not football), but now is starting to wear her hair longer and wearing girls cut clothes. She's gone through puberty and is no longer questioning. She thinks JKR is evil and I can't have conversations about genderism with her as it gets heated.

So that's what I have done.

If when she's older she says she thinks she's a boy then I'll continue with the no wrong way to be a boy line and hope she doesn't go onto want body modification to avoid being a girl.

lifeturnsonadime · 06/02/2024 18:32

@EffieeBriest what trans ideology has done to autistic girls is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about this issue.

I've seen many girls, peers of my daugthter and a bit older who've been convinced they are boys. Some of them now later teens are going down the wanting the double mastectomy route.

It's just awful.

Did you not get the memo? No debate is over. Now you are expected to have some substance to your argument, rather than just calling people who disagree with you bigots and transphobes.

I imagine that might be difficult if your argument makes no sense.

It was also the Conservatives that made it much harder (impossible for most) to get legal aid for domestic violence.

Just to add a couple more:

It is the conservatives who have legislated to remove the rights of part time and agency workers to the same paid leave and sick pay as full time workers, which disproportionately affects women.

It is the conservatives who have failed to implement the legislation on buffer zones for abortion clinics, leaving women still open to harrassment by forced birthers.

It is under the conservatives that more women have been prosecuted and jailed for procuring illegal abortions than in any of the past 20 years.

Conservatives. They know what a woman is. 🙄

Yesterday on the other thread I said Starmer is either stupid or a liar to say 1% of women have a penis, and you said:

Odd definition when a "lie" is a legally accurate statement that would be fully defensible in court

But now you're saying people can't change sex.

It does seem a bit like you want it both ways (a bit like the Labour party, I suppose).
