To not vote Labour because of their abhorrent views on the female sex?

1000 replies

Lion400 · 05/02/2024 18:43

Starmer cannot represent women, he can’t even define us. Questioning a trans person is a hate crime, but misogyny is not. Sorry Labour, you’ve lost my vote. Have they lost anyone else’s??

‘On trans ideology, the vast majority of voters, and certainly a majority of traditional Labour voters from working class backgrounds, tend to cast a sceptical eye on the tenets of an ideological movement that asserts that biological men must be accepted as women – and be offered similar rights and access to women’s spaces and sports as women – simply by asserting their new status’

Transgender ideology has created the biggest medical scandal of our generation

Vulnerable young people who transitioned before they were ready are paying a high price for this disastrous project

I’ve only ever voted Labour before. They’ve lost me on this one.

So you prefer the Conservatives?
Jesus wept.

I'm not sure why you are posting stuff about Maria Miller again - we all know she is a TRA activist, as are a couple of other Tories ( Caroline Nokes, Crispin Blunt) Difference is that for Labour gender ideology is party policy - not so with the Tory party.

Stop trying to distract from the issues with Labour and why women feel they cannot be trusted.

nothingcomestonothing · 06/02/2024 17:34

I think too many GC posters hang around on weird bits of the internet (like the Antipodean site) and have absorbed a load of lunacy from there. And I think because some conservative groups have played an absolute blinder trying to conflate gender politics with "the Left". As a result there's a load of half baked conspiracy theories flying around, being given airtime by places like GBeebies and the Daily Express.

Again with the ' silly airhead women have been fooled by the right wing'? Don't you ever stop to think about your attitudes to women, that allow you to assume that if women disagree with you it must be because they're gullible idiots who can be swayed by the likes of Trump or Johnson? Seriously?

Intimating that women are stupid rarely leads to persuading us you're right, just fyi.

BIossomtoes · 06/02/2024 17:37

lifeturnsonadime · 06/02/2024 17:12

No they don't.

The result of the legislation they introduced means some men have used the GRA to become legal women and can say that their sex is female.

They can say that they don't conflate sex and gender but that is the result of the Act and they should repeal it if that was not the intended outcome.

It’s there in black and white. 🤷‍♀️

RantyAnty · 06/02/2024 17:39

Like the torys care about women or anyone but the wealthy.

BIossomtoes · 06/02/2024 17:37

Where?

It's not in the primary legislation.

Are you disputing that the GRA changes a person's legal SEX?

PieAndLattes · 06/02/2024 17:40

All this nonsense happened under the Tory’s watch. All the fucking nonsense we’ve had to suck up over the last 14 years - from the transgenderism row to the decimation of the NHS to austerity to Brexit to fucking up the economy - all of it. We’ve been lied to, gaslighted, and treated like gullible peasants, so if you think I’m voting for another 5 years of that you need to give your head a wobble. It’s disgusting what they’ve done. They’ve brought us to our knees.

Correction, the Labour Party introduced the Gender Recognition Act and the Equality Act which has enabled some men to be deemed legal females.

It's obviously escaped your notice Adam but this is a thread about Labour's views on this.

Goodness me.
For the third time (I think) it is in AIBU therefore its a debate on the premise of the thread.

We can't debate if someone is unreasonable not to vote Labour if we don't know the other options.

You can't dictate this is a thread about Labour's views when you can't answer a question. Even more ridiculous when you are demanding other people answer the question themselves

AdamRyan · 06/02/2024 17:48

Apollo441 · 06/02/2024 16:45

Are you seriously saying that the only women objecting are a minority who are purporting to be feminists?

Well there is your problem right there.

No apollo I'm saying that around the same time Corbyn was getting rid of women, the Conservatives were also dismissing womens concerns. Maria Miller is conservative.
Hence why this isn't a left/right issue despite what some posters would have you believe.

AdamRyan · 06/02/2024 17:49

Lion400 · 06/02/2024 16:53

Is this an AIBU thread, or is it an I’m stating something and everyone shall agree with me thread?

Ask life 😂

AdamRyan · 06/02/2024 17:54

RebelliousCow · 06/02/2024 17:12

So Badenoch is "mulling" rather than having any form of plan.
The article says nothing about Labour's position and contrary to what you wrote they said this:

LABOUR said today it welcomes government plans to review the Equality Act, potentially defining sex explicitly as “biological sex.” “Clarification is a good thing,” the party said, adding it would wait on specific proposals.

https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/b/labour-welcomes-government-review-equality-act-over-defining-sex-biological

Stop making stuff up. Its very tedious.

Please show me evidence that "gender ideology" is party policy. I think you are either out of date or making it up.

I think you need to read back the wording of your original post. You were clearly stating aspects of it and not questioning. It very much sounded like you were the spokeswoman for women and I don't need someone to tell me my opinion thanks.

lifeturnsonadime · 06/02/2024 17:58

DuncinToffee · 06/02/2024 17:43

Labour party introduced it, Conservatives ran with it.

Everyone ran with it.

Now we can see the harms, why are the Labour party making it easier for some men to be legal women (or women to be men) ?

Why doesn't Starmer apologise to Rosie Duffield for the way she has been treated?

Why isn't Starmer clear about how he intends to protect women and children (whilst simplifying the process for making some men women) ?

Clavinova · 06/02/2024 17:59

Are they going to firm up legislation, for example, which guarantees that women always have access to single sex toilets and changing rooms?

Keir Starmer doesn't seem to think changing rooms need protecting if you listen to this clip;

Not the "silly airhead women". Just a few "GC Ultras" (to coin a phrase) who are obsessed and very hard line on this issue, to a point they believe conspiracy theories and misinformation.

I know most GC women aren't like that. I am one and I follow the debate. Just on threads like this, we get the equivalent of Uber Brexiteers posting utter bilge.

Drives me mad when people post utter unfounded rubbish then claim "you just don't like women talking" when you point it out.

Edited

Apart from in the case of primogeniture, where there is an exception. Its obviously not a watertight draft

Anyway people can't change sex so your statement makes no sense 🤷

lifeturnsonadime · 06/02/2024 18:01

Something doesn't add up about the Labour Party position.

Why simplify the GRA to make becoming the opposite SEX an easier process if your intention is to protect rights based in sex?

What benefit is there to a man in becoming a legal female if it has no meaning and he is not treated as a female in law?

No one can answer this.

Looking at other countries too who went with it

It wasn’t something I was aware of until recently, thanks to FWR posters who knew more

And stuff like Isla Bryson made people aware

The GRA underpins it and maybe be twenty years old but each year men become more emboldened

Not according to Starmer, less than 1% of women have a penis.

You can't have it both ways Adam.

The labour party created the legal fiction of the female man.

Now they want to make it easier for them.
