Wow. What a shock

In the nicest possible way, I'm sure he's got a much better chance of recovery that 99.9% of the people diagnosed with the same cancer.
It's a shame, I hope he recovers. As I would any other person.

Cloudbuggi · 05/02/2024 19:17

Money doesn't stop you dying of cancer. Look at Steve Jobs, alongside all the other extremely rich people who have died of cancer.

Daphnis156 · 05/02/2024 19:18

Has Harry tried to grab headlines by rushing over?

Didn't Steve Jobs treat an early stage cancer with alternative "treatments" rather than actual medicine?

What is wrong with you?

FFS. Ever had a parent diagnosed with cancer? DH and I have had that pleasure 9 times (yes, really, no that doesn't include basal cell) and it's very normal to want to visit.

Steve Jobs was in the tiny minority who had treatable pancreatic cancer, but he chose to swerve conventional medicine and died as a result.

LakeTiticaca · 05/02/2024 19:22

I'm rooting for Charles, of course I wish him well but after listening to ITV news wheeling out "experts" to repeat themselves for 1.5 hours, Emmerdale better be on, or else!!!

MyopicBunny · 05/02/2024 19:22

That isn't the King's fault...!

I didn't say it was his fault but he and the firm could do more to aid the inequality and of young children losing their parents if they really wanted to. It's worse than ever atm.

I bet Charles won't be relying on his beloved homeopathy!

NerrSnerr · 05/02/2024 19:24

I wish him and his family the best. I imagine that if he made a statement saying he was going to use the NHS people would complain that he was making the wait longer for others as he could go private.

I know someone who had cancer treatment privately recently as they're pretty wealthy- that's a normal thing for many people and I don't begrudge them. If I had the money I'd do the same.

Harry can't get this right. He comes over alone he's hogging the limelight, comes with his family she's hogging the limelight and if he doesn't come he'll be a heartless bastard. The anti Meghan and Harry folk will be happy they've got more bollocks to shout about though with their made up theories.

the80sweregreat · 05/02/2024 19:27

I hope that they leave it be soon and let them get on with it. We don't need daily updates after today.
(Apart from the daily mail etc who will be quick to put the boot into Harry once he rolls up I suppose , I actually don't envy him )

MyopicBunny · 05/02/2024 19:28

Nobody begrudges him. The point that people are making to the pearl clutchers on this thread is that the king will have a much better chance of survival than most people would. I certainly don't wish him ill and I know how awful cancer and the effects of treatment are.

Nor would it be a six month wait under the NHS for cancer.

Edited

It took 5 months for my first cancer in 2016. It took my husband taking me to a&e in the end to even get the ball rolling. The radiographer in a&e did and ultrasound, he gave me a printout of his findings and told me to take it to my gp ASAP because he couldn't do anything to help.

the80sweregreat · 05/02/2024 19:29

The DM will probably blame H and M for the fact that his poorly : I did read a comment saying this..

Flopsythebunny · 05/02/2024 19:14

I guess having to wait months for treatment for aggressive breast cancer can be unpleasant?
More and more people on my breast cancer group are in this position and it's getting worse

I’m so sorry. Having had a parent die recently from cancer my advice is to keep on at them, bug them make sure they know you are still waiting. I wish I had done this. Best wishes

Palomabalom · 05/02/2024 19:30

He’s 75/76 years old and the body is in a fairly swift descent at this point, especially with the discovery of cancer. Let’s hope he has a good quality of his life remaining and that he has some good years left. However at this age it’s difficult to know with certainty what the prognosis is.

Diskneedisney · 05/02/2024 19:32

Cloudbuggi · 05/02/2024 19:17

Slightly different as he refused conventional treatments first and then when he wanted them it was too late.

Charles praised his medics for a swift diagnosis, a privilege afforded to so few nowadays with people literally dying on waiting lists. Fortune favours the fortunate

Atethehalloweenchocs · 05/02/2024 19:33

If it is to do with his prostate, lots of men live with this for years, and we know he will get the very best of treatment. Not nice, but harder for the people sitting on waiting lists who cant afford to go private.

MidnightSerenader · 05/02/2024 19:33

Saladcreamdreams · 05/02/2024 19:07

There's a prediction that Harry will become king.

Charles dies, Kate and William decide to live as quietly as they can to give poorly Kate a calm and stress free life. Harry and Megan move into Buckingham Palace

😂

There’s also a prediction that the sky is going to fall on all of our heads this afternoon. Doesn’t mean it’s going to come true.

And anyone with even passing knowledge of the rules of succession knows that particularly ludicrous prediction also won’t come true!

Amusing, though… Grin

vodkaredbullgirl · 05/02/2024 18:03

He has prostate problems, bound to be cancer.

No…seems to be an incidental finding. Discovered when he had his prostate surgery.

frostyfeet · 05/02/2024 19:36

QuestionableMouse · 05/02/2024 18:02

Got a credible source for that?

My god - if you’re on mumsnet you can Google BBC! Not sure how some people on here manage to write their own name sometimes

I thought Charles was quite into woo stuff like homeopathy?

Nah, he needs to work on getting back in the will .... pronto!

Not much point in trying. He won't get the throne.

QuestionableMouse · 05/02/2024 18:05

I don't own a TV!

Eh no doubt he'll have the best if everything. I feel more sorry for normal people that I do him tbh.

I feel sorry for anyone who has been given a cancer diagnosis. Always a worrying time for everyone.
