STOP the OT rubbish and talk about what the thread is about - it should be in the Royal forums

I understand our king has prostate cancer. Whilst no cancer of any form is not good news, prostate cancer often is slow evolving and by all accounts the docs were aware of his enlarged prostate - they caught VERY, very early

Wishing our King Charles a speedy recovery!

Very sad for him and the family... and I don't mean this to sound insensitive but I have wondered from the start given his age etc. Why they haven't just gone straight to William - of course I know it's his birth right but still. Hope its nothing too serious as they are not staring what type of cancer it is

Williams children are still young, maybe they felt it best to not put him under that kind of pressure just yet. It would also put pressure on George too.

He’s doesn’t have prostate cancer - it’s been said multiple times!

I don't own a TV!

Eh no doubt he'll have the best if everything. I feel more sorry for normal people that I do him tbh.

This

A fair statement

Agree

SweetBirdsong · 05/02/2024 20:23

Yep, very shocked here too. Poor man. I hope he will be OK. He is 75. Sadly, I don't think he will see 80. (Hope I'm wrong!)

Willmafrockfit · 05/02/2024 19:48

we dont know what cancer, it could be a mole

The statement refers to a schedule of treatment. To me that signifies chemotherapy or radiation. It could be any form of cancer.

It’s not Prostate

Its not?

I heard the news on the radio about 18-20 and they were talking about "prostate" and he's been in hospital for that.

Galatine · 05/02/2024 20:30

vodkaredbullgirl · 05/02/2024 18:03

He has prostate problems, bound to be cancer.

I have had prostate problems for many years but do not have cancer. Google BPH, and stop commenting on medical issues you have no knowledge of.

It's not. The statement said it was picked up whilst having the treatment for his enlarged prostate, but is not prostate cancer.

the80sweregreat · 05/02/2024 20:30

It sounds as if he had this op for an enlarged prostate and then something else has then been found. He must have had blood tests done and scans and things , so they might have found it early.

He was in hospital for an enlarged prostate. That’s when the cancer was discovered but it’s not in his prostate

I think Edward looks ill too. This is so unsettling

Yes.

Edward has looked increasingly frail for a long while.

I wish him well and I hope he makes a good recovery.

I do think people need to stop banging the drum on this thread about how amazing the NHS is for cancer though based on one person they know. It's been well-documented the UK has some of the worst survival rates in the world for some cancers, and there are many people whose cancer treatment got chucked out of the window during Covid. It's not fair on those suffering from shit access to healthcare in the postcode lottery to say we all get amazing healthcare in the UK. Some people really do wait 6 months or a year for diagnosis before that fast treatment they always trot out in the NHS PR. The wait time to diagnosis is what kills a lot of people because cancer is easier to treat with better survival rates when caught early.

I can understand why some are annoyed about this. They are basically being told their life is worth less than someone else's due to structural inequalities they can't do anything about.

None of that is HRH's fault though and I really wish the best outcome for him.

Edited

This is very well said and sums up what I couldn't quite put into words.

Same here (I'm in the NE). DiL has had confirmation of breast cancer, poor girl, but things are moving very quickly as regards treatment programme.

We are all praying for her - and if anyone on here (of any faith, or none) would join us, I'd be so grateful to you.

Many thanks.

Haven't RTFT but has anyone managed to get a dig in at/blame Meghan/Harry/ both?

The first thing I did when I saw this thread title, was hit google.

No need even to Google. The BBC has it's failings, but if I want confirmation of a major news story, I go straight there.

As for whether the King is a force for good, the Prince's Trust, which was entirely his own initiative, initially funded with money he earned though his service wth the Royal Navy, has helped thousands (tens of thousands?) of young people.

His passionate interest in environmental issues has been helping to raise awareness for decades, since long before most people had heard of climate change.

He loves gardens, music and art, all of which are good things, and commissions new work.

Totally agree.

Daily Mail comments pages have blamed Harry and Meghan for ' stress they have caused him '
I'm sure one of their journalists will have a dig at them both eventually in the coming weeks
Depressing , but I can see it happening
