There were 5 cars ahead of me, and it was 3pm

All this malarkey for some crap, rubbish food. Surely it would be quicker to, you know, go inside the restaurant, and order.

NachosAndCheese · 29/01/2024 09:24

I order on the app and collect.

They frequently get the order wrong it’s really irritating but at least I can check it.

You could do this thing called parking the car and getting out for your order. Most of the country had dry and in some cases mild weather for January.

There will sometimes be people who have lost the ability to be quick in placing an order and being decisive, and so pot luck if that happens to be a person in front of you.

Mmmhmmm, yes. I could. But I could also just drive through the lane and remain in my car... and not have to find a space, get myself and kid out of car, pay for parking, cross the carpark, over the double crossing and and into the store to order on the screen, to stand around waiting to then walk it back to the car ...

I am proud to say I have never been to MacDonalds in my life.

That makes you proud....... ?

No- not sad. They sell factory farmed, over-processed shit-for-health crap, their packaging causes huge amounts of environmental damage and they treat their staff like rubbish. I'm proud not to be a customer

oh but isn’t it so yum! 🤤

It's no quicker. I've timed it. Even if there's a drive thru queue and it's empty inside I always walk out after (sometimes way after) the car I would have been behind. But thanks for the cuntish sarcasm. Really adding value there.

Why does every fast food thread attract people who just have to come along and tell us how awful it is?

I don't get it - what are you all hoping to achieve?

Medals 🥇, that's what they're hoping for 😂.

@TTontostitis

They are a brilliant employee.. my ASD 18 year old Grandson is at Uni and wanted a part time job.. they employed no problem.. once he declares his ASD...we know that many employers don't want to know.
McDonald's is well known for giving people with disabilities a chance.

❤️ I love this.

Oh yes, real malarkey... Slowly Driving a car forward 150m and having to stop 3 times. Ask for food, pay for food, be given food, and the drive off ..

Definitely more hassle than finding a space, getting the child out, walking them to the ticket machine, paying, walking back to car, walking back across carpark, over the double crossing, into the store, ordering food, hanging around waiting for the food, carrying food back and holding child's hand back across the double crossing, through car park, getting child back in to seat and driving off. What a fool I am....

Actually, McDonald's are known for being pretty damn decent employer

It is. Our youngest is there part time (2 years now) and it’s been a very positive experience. Their restaurant was really depleted by staff sickness this weekend, may explain some of the queues.

KarenNotAKaren · 29/01/2024 09:59

YANBU but this is the norm in my local Maccy’s. It’s why I now go to the bats and order on an app for them to bring it to me. Still takes ages but not as long

KarenNotAKaren · 29/01/2024 10:01

I’m pleased to hear it’s a good employer for young people - my niece worked there and was getting harassed by a colleague to go on a date with him. She reported him and they binned him off immediately - which is refreshing to hear!

kisstheblarney · 29/01/2024 10:07

Plmnki · 28/01/2024 22:17

In that time you could have made something healthy at home at a fraction of the price.

Depends if

  1. OP had food in
  2. If OP was near home
  3. If OP felt like food prepping

Also once she was in the queue she didn't know or would take that long, so presumed it would be quicker? Hence the post asking AIBU.

Oh god now I'm craving McDonald's for lunch, thanks for that OP 😫

😂

PatFussy · 29/01/2024 10:46

It's always been like this at my local drive thru. There isn't another one for miles so people from the surrounding areas all drive in. The carpark is pitifully small as well so quite often you wouldn't be able to park and walk in anyway!

OnTheBoardwalk · 31/01/2024 22:27

I was hungry so went to my local McDonald’s. Whilst I was waiting 20 mins me and and 12 other cars were sent to park up to wait for our food

if we leave the queue does that mean the franchise looks like it’s smashing it for drive through targets?

the fries tasted like sawdust and the cat refused my left over burger. I did use to like a McDonald’s

It's no quicker inside! You place your order at the screen, then wait, and wait, and wait, whilst the Deliveroo and Just Eat drivers come and go in front of you.

The last time we went inside (because there was a horrendous queue of traffic backed up at the drive-thru), we were stood waiting over half an hour after ordering.

You're in the same queue for food whether in the drive thru or inside the place - the delivery orders take priority and everyone else keeps getting pushed back.
